Croatian captain Darijo Srna is back home in Croatia at the moment after the tragic news that his father, Uzeir, passed away Sunday. The news was delivered to Srna shortly after Croatia’s 1-0 win over Turkey. With the team traveling to St. Etienne this week in preparation for the Czech Republic match on Friday, Srna was given permission to leave France in order to attend his father’s funeral on Monday.
Reports out of Croatia say that Srna will rejoin the team later this week and that he will be ready to play against the Czech Republic in Croatia’s second Euro 2016 group stage game on Friday.
No matter what the age or circumstance, it’s never easy losing a parent. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Darijo Srna at this time as we hope he finds strength through his family back home.
Serbs are also jocksniffers of the Greek, always remember that, oni vas vuku guzicom za nos.

I understand Srna is a professional who has been playing for many years for club and country , a true veteran.
But will this effect his play? I know someone said he’s gonna flop or go beast mode. He has a lot of emotions because he knows it’s his last tournament, hopefully not the last time he is going to put the blue jersey on ( most likely we will be wearing our blue jersey vs Czech Republic, and our checkered jersey against Spain ). He played well against the Dirty Turks. But I hope he will be ok emotionally. What do you guys think?
highly doubt ziva is in france
Props if he comes back to play.
Is Cacic a Muslim?
I’m not trying to start any shit, I’m just curious.
@Poglavnik
Anonymous sent that message loud and clear with his “WE.”
I got the message. Didn’t need you to chime in.
@Lazio
Speak for yourself.
No. WE don’t miss him. He’d be pointing out that we shouldn’t get too excited after one solid game (fair statement), claim he was right somehow (he always covers his bets to always end up being able to claim being right), and then he’d have dozens of negative and mocking posts, including ones making fun of Srna’s Dad passing.
I think we all miss Ziva and his antics, we never knew what we had with Ziva until he went to France, let’s not kid ourselves we all miss the guy!
Ziva’s absence made CroatianPerson85 turn to drink for crying out loud!
Thank God živa isn’t here (hopefully the Turci or Rusi got him). He’d be making yet another one of his tasteless (and humorless) jokes at the expense of a person that just died.
On the opposite of that note… Classy post Ante-B.
Cacic is the Tata figure I’ve been preaching to you guys all along.
Remember – no bandwagon bullshit from me.
No fucking way Kovac flies back with Srna. He’d be too busy trying to figure out which restaurants in Paris to take his wife to.
Didn’t Čačić’s mom recently pass away?
I’m sure him and Srna connected because of that and probably took the flight together to his father’s funeral.
Well said Ante
For me Cacic hasn’t had one missed step.
In 3 weeks he passes Ciro! 😉
@Ante B
I accept your apology
Nice post ante b
I’ve been saying it for a while I believe cacic is practical and humble man
Kovac stimac thanks for what they did for the repka had too much ego
Bilic had some for sure but loved the team more
Two things gonna happen srna falls apart or goes beast mode
I say beast mode
My prayers go out to the Srna family. I will respect his decision either or. I want him back and it looks like he will come back.
Need to get this off my chest and it’s about Cacic. Trust me, read this to the end. Actions speak louder than words. When I first heard Cacic was appointed coach, I knew Mamic had a role in this. You do too. We can debate that forever but there’s no amount that could be said to disprove my theory. However, despite all of this and some minor issues I had with him with the Turkey game, seeing him at the funeral of the team captain’s father, sorry, all of his ‘faults’ evaporated. Maybe I’m bias because I’ve been through that situation. Despite being a Mamic guy, he has completely regained all of my trust and showed himself to be a great person. For the remainder of the tournament, he has my full support. Svaka mu cast, kapa do poda. Bravo Cacicu! U najtezim trenucima si se pokazao kao covjek.
Also, I can’t believe I’m saying this, svaka cast to Davor Suker! Apparently they wanted to ban Lijepa li si and he said absolutely not, put his foot down and fought for it. Now if you think I’m going to completely absolve him and Mamic for everything, no chance. I’m not a saint 🙂
RIP 🙁
My Condolences to him and his family.
Nase saucesce kapetan Srna!
Cacic, pusti Srnu u miru…daj Luki armband u petak…
Za Srnu!
Amen. For anybody who is not familiar with uzeir’s life story, there is a good article by johnathen Wilson in the guardian worth reading. Worth knowing just what has made our captain…
