Dinamo Zagreb have allowed eight goals in the past two matches. I didn’t even bother looking up hen they last time that happened; surely not since the Prva HNL has been implemented.
The disastrous week began on Wednesday during a make up match at Rujevica against Rijeka. A blunder by goalkeeper Dominik Livaković opened up the scoring for Rijeka after Livaković passed the ball directly to Heber, who easily beat Livaković’s poor attempt at recovering is mistake. The goal tied the match at one goal apiece and it was all down hill from there.
Livaković later made a public statement apologizing, take full blame for the 4-1 loss. He stated nothing was right after he conceded the first goal, but Livaković did not mention Dinamo went down to 10 men in the 27th minute after Marko Lešković was sent off with his second yellow card.
Dinamo faced their second-constitutive 4-1 loss on Saturday at the hands of NK Lokomotiva. It is the first time ever NK Lokomotiva has defeated Dinamo. Since achieving first-league status in 2009, Lokomotiva had suffered defeat 26 times and drew once to the Modri, but the Lokosi blew Dinamo out of Maksimir this weekend with goals from Lirim Kastrati and Lovre Majer. Dinamo’s lead at the top has been reduced to six points.
It was the miracle at Poljud on Saturday when Hajduk Split stole three points from NK Istra 1961. The two sides fought to a tough 2-2 draw through regular time. But Hajduk somehow found a win in the 94th minute thanks to the effort of goalkeeper Karlo Letica.
The final play of the match was set to be a free kick from Hajduk only yards from the penalty area. This prompted the six-foot-seven-inch goalkeeper to place himself in the mix in the opposing penalty area. After a poor clearance attempt by Istra’s defense, a second ball was set in and met by the diving head of Letica, who scored the winning goal in the 94th minute.
Hajduk is now six points behind Dinamo on the league table.
Rijeka continued their winning ways after victory on Wednesday with a convincing 3-0 defeat of Inter Zaprešić. Heber scored his 12th goal of the season, putting him on top of the league’s scoring table where he is tied with Dinamo’s Soudani. Eight points now separate Rijeka with the top of the table.
Another installment of the Slavonski Derbi took place on Sunday between NK Osijek and HNK Cibalia. The match ended in a 1-1 draw between the rivals.
Man U forums are lighting up with anger regarding mgmt not paying for Perisic.
Dinamo Zagreb is the richest club in Croatia stop comparing Hajduk Split to them. Even Celtic in Scotland lost 4:0 away to a average team just a anomaly very rare.
Yeah, you also could say Hajduk has been folding for 20 years or more.
the only way Hajduk win is if Dinamo folds….its up to Dinamo, not Hajduk!
Nobody laughing at Bobby V now when I predicted Hajduk Split would win the league after saying they were much the better team back in August, and, despite losing Vlasic to Everton, they still have a chance!
Croatians LOVE conspiracy theories
@Ante Montacic doubt Dinamo and Loko was fixed, Cvitanovic is just a bad manager
Dinamo has lost 3 of their last 4 in the HNL.
I think it was 2005 when something like that last happened.
The irony in losing to NK Lokomotiva 1:4 at home would have bben a rich man picking the correct score betting. Also PSV in Holland lost 5:0 to a bad team all fishy fixed results. Once in a life time for Dinamo to lose in the HNL like that.
Letica is being looked at by Real Madrid for a serious first-team player. Meanwhile, the hyped Livakovic is not living up to his name.
