Much braver and better performance tonight from our Vatreni. Good changes by Bilić to bring on a natural six to protect Kova and Modrić with Jakić, who had a good game. Vlašić and Šutalo were good as well. But the two sitters that were missed by Matanović in the first half and Perišić right before his second yellow kept Spain right in it, and the World Champions showed they're … [Read more...] about Brave Croatia Loses 1-2 To Spain At Poljud

Oh man. That was rough. I don’t care that we lost to a better squad in England…but you can’t concede 7 goals to anyone on Croatian soil. You just can’t!! -horrible defensive display where every goal came from tap-ins in front of Livaković. No one being marked  -Modrić/Kovačić cannot play together against the world’s top teams…they are too slow -we are clearly not … [Read more...] about England Hand Croatia Worst Defeat, 7-0 In Nations League

But don’t you worry, Bilić rolled out a C-squad against the World Cup champs consisting of Pongračić, Smolčić & Mišić. Modrić and Baturina did not start.  Unpopular opinion: this was a “throw away” game to keep the Vatreni fresh for two huge matches this week against England and Spain on Croatian soil.  October 3rd: vs. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿England in Rijeka October … [Read more...] about Spain Defeat Croatia 4-1 In Nations League

Croatia faces World Champions Spain on Tuesday, September 29th, in Seville following a shaky 2-1 victory over Czechia. Defence Saturday's match was truly a tale of two halves for the back four. The first half was remarkable -- one of the most stable defensive halves I've seen Croatia play in a long time. Gvardiol and Vušković cleaned up very well at the back and the … [Read more...] about The CroatianSports.com Recommended Starting XI For Bilić vs. Spain

Croatia defeat Czechia 2-1 in a weird one from Prague to open up their Nations League campaign!  Modrić scores a beauty from the top of the box. Czechs come down moments later to equalize after Gvardiol/Vušković make a mess of clearing the ball. Then Marco Pašalić heads home a header in the 77’ that barely crosses the line following a Perišić cross. Czech equalize … [Read more...] about Croatia Defeat Czechia 2-1 In A Weird Back & Forth To Open Up Nations League Campaign
