In the midst of the World Cup action, club teams from all over Europe are gearing up for their upcoming seasons by dealing some of the World’s top talent.
The most notable of these deals is surely Barcelona’s acquiring of Croatian star, Ivan Rakitić.
The Swiss-born Rakitić spent the past four seasons with La Liga’s Sevilla, scoring 25 goals for the club, 12 of them coming this past season.
His performance caught the eyes of one of Spain’s top clubs and it was confirmed that he joined Barcelona on a 20 million Euro transfer fee.
The departure of Spanish legend, Cesc Fabregas, from Barca made room for the Croatian midfielder, who is expected to fit very well with the club’s style of play.
Rakitić is not alone in the transfer market this summer. Rumors are swirling around another Croatia star, Mario Mandžukić, regarding where he will he will be employed after leaving German club Bayern Munich.
Both Chelsea and Arsenal have shown interest in the Croatian striker, but have yet to seal the deal, leaving his options still wide open.
Croatian center back, Dejan Lovren had an impressive debut season in England’s Premier League and caught the eye of the likes of Liverpool while playing for Southampton.
Lovren started in 31 matches for The Saints and tallied two goals on the season. It also seems that Lovren has matured over the year and has learned to discipline himself better and did not receive a single red card, something he had a problem with while playing in France on Lyon where he was sent off five times during his spell there.
All three players are expected to start in Croatia’s second match of the World Cup against Cameroon on Wednesday.

These are professional sportsmen i doubt this is creating too much trouble, most likely NK and RK see this as a good way to keep them focused, no media means no one is doing pressers, no one can talk out of school etc etc, especially after the match where a lot of players had a lot to say, with no comment the stories all die a quick death, be they about refs, fifa or Ziva getting happy snaps of the players during rec time.
For a lot of coaches the media are like mushrooms, you feed them shit and keep them in the dark. The media shot themselves in the foot for a cheap headline and now have lost their pipeline, while Niko has a perfect reason to cut off the media.

@ Slavonac Even in the possession game Pranjic is too much of a liability, he just doesn’t look comfortable with the ball in the back line, whereas Vrsaljko looks very comfortable with the ball, pushing into attack, covering his player and if speed is something to go buy Sime has plenty, it may be a case of Niko throwing misinformation to fuck with the opposition. Croatia is in their own private camp, still focusing on Cameroon and still preparing for that game, the difference is when you have time away from the soccer portion and are relaxing with absolutely no outside life in a confined area where the only entertainment you have is each other…it can get a little dosadno. And still have Pranjic, Badelj as more defensive subs for our kids.
If we have a lead around the 70th minute, we could revert to a defensive counterattacking team.

i wouldn’t be surprised to see kovacic come off the bench. the bottom line is that in the amazon heat, you are not going to play the game without using midfield subs. so the question lies, do you put the “golden trainge” out there to start with rakitic, modric, and kovacic. or do you bring kovacic in later in the game with some fresh legs. i wouldn’t be shocked to see this. and after brozovic panicked all over the field on thursday, it doesn’t leave many options for kovac as to which midfielder to play
