It was an easy stroll in the park for FC Barcelona, who will be playing for the Champions League crown June 6th in Berlin. Bayern had to overcome a 3-0 first leg deficit, and even with the Bavarian side scoring inside 10 minutes, Neymar’s two first half goals would end the tie to put the Spanish champions-elect through to the final. Bayern would win 3-2, but it was not enough to flip the aggregate, which ended 5-3 in Barca’s favor.
Ivan Rakitić got the start and played 72 minutes with a sloppy first half where numerous passes were poor leading to interceptions by the defense. It wasn’t his best game but Barca didn’t need to be at their best on this night.
Will it be Real Madrid or Juventus who face Barca?
—————————-
Even after a 3-0 thumping of Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals last week, Barcelona still have to go through Munich to reach their season’s end goal of playing in Berlin. The Champions League Final will take place June 6th in Berlin, Germany at the Olympistadion.
Barring a collapse of epic proportions Tuesday night in Bavaria, Barcelona can limp into the final where they would meet the winner of the Real Madrid/Juventus tie. They play their second leg Wednesday.
Ivan Rakitić was rested at the weekend and is expected to get the start against Bayern Munich. This current Barca club is on track to capture the European treble: win Champions League, win the domestic league (La Liga) and win the domestic cup.
With only two matches remaining in La Liga, Barcelona hold a comfortable 4-point lead on second place Real Madrid. The Catalan club will face Athletic Bilbao on May 30th and is on line to play in the Champions League Final a week later.
Looks like some silverware is coming to first year Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitić.
@armada……negative. No chance. Let the fan boys answer that one. He’ll I think we have guys on the site who would blow another man if it meant Cro winning the World Cup. Wearing a jersey with another man’s name on the back is a few steps removed from a blow job to a player.
Does it makes sense playing him that game. He would be with no game action in about two months.
Well Modric will hopefully be inspired to get ready for the qualifier against Italy, since that’s the only big game left for this season. What a dud by Madrid.
@ Ziva
What are your thoughts on Sandra Perkovic?
Would you take one for the domovina and motor boat her if that meant she would win gold again at the next Olympics?
Becasue they may be tired and emotionally drained and not up for a game being played in front of no fans. Tough to get yourself back up for a game that really means little less a week after playing in one of the most important matches in your life. Its not uncommon to sit a star player down for such a reason.
Kum Kovac’s call. I’m just throwing out the possibility.
ziva of course. Why wouldnt you start them. Let em play
@Ziva Yeah I think it should be considered to sit whoever wins. I think Kovacic can slot in for either and do a decent enough job (see game in italy) plus it might give a slot in the midfield to pasalic/badelj. Either way, this game is basically meaningless.

Gonna get nasty in Mujo land. Croatia has to make sure we stay clear of it. No fucking refugees over our border.

question for you guys……..
Assuming Real wins today and both Modric and the folically challanged Rakitic are starting in the CL final, would you consider not playing the winner against Italy?
We’ve seen it before where a team (club or country) has sat a player after coming off a big accomplishment. Whoever the winner is will be celebrating and partying for 2 days and then have to show up in Split for training. No way you can get up for a game in an empty stadium after being on such a high.
@ Bobby V
Do you know Steve Zungul posts on this site?
Let’s worry about getting in the knockout stage first.
Mandzukic UCL champion in 2013
Modric UCL champion in 2014
Rakitic UCL champion in 2015
Croatia NT Euro champion in 2016
That u-17 side features Alen Halilovic’s and Dejan Lovren’s younger brothers Dino Halilovic and Davor Lovren. Both are highly rated. now wouldn’t it be something if they appeared for Repka with their older brothers.

Interesting stats on Croatia’s success in Europe. I remember watching Slavisa (Steve) Zungul play indoor here in the States. Always leading the league in scoring.
Real Madrid will bounce back tomorrow – hopefully we will see Rakitic and Modric on June 6th in Berlin.

Croatia U-17 has gone 6 games without giving up a goal, finish first in their group and are now through to the quarter-finals, where they will face Belgium.
