The 2018 winter Olympics are upon us and Croatia will be represented by 19 athletes across four sports: alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, bobsled and luge.
CroatiaWeek has put together a list of Croatian athletes competing in their respected winter sports, which will be without a Kostelić sibling for the first time since the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway. During the 2014 winter Olympics in Sochi, Ivica Kostelić was the only Croatian to medal; taking the silver in the men’s combined alpine skiing event.
Alpine Skiing – Leona Popović, Ida Štimac, Andrea Komšić, Lana Zbašnik, Natko Zrnčić-Dim, Filip Zubčić, Matej Vidović, Istok Rodeš, Elias Kolega, Samuel Kolega
Bobsled – Dražen Silić, Benedikt Nikpalj, Mate Mezulić, Antonio Zelić
Luge – Daria Obratov
Popovic just biffed it hard in the slalom. Her arm got caught on a gate. Hope she’s alright..
Thanks Ante. Hvala bogu. I’m fed up with that guy.
Any potential medalists?
Istok Rodeš and Ida Štimac were good in the junior competitions, and these Kolega brothers are being trained by Kostelic’s dad.
