The Champions League group stage concludes this week with games Tuesday and Wednesday. There wasn’t much of a surprise with which teams would go through to the knockout stages , minus Manchester United, however, our very own Dinamo Zagreb lit up Twitter opening night when the Croatian champs defeated Arsenal 2-1. But the Modri couldn’t do damage against Olympiakos, losing both games by one goal, to once again finish bottom of the group. Luka Modrić, Mateo Kovačić, Ivan Rakitić and Mario Mandžukić will all be part of the knockout draw for February games as Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus will all easily advance.
Darijo Srna and Shakhtar Donetsk fell short as they were given a tough group; paired with Real Madrid and PSG. Shakhtar will play in Europa League after the winter break.
Mateo Kovačić scored Tuesday night in Real Madrid’s 8-0 thumping of Malmo, cleaning up the trash in front of the net in a game which saw Ronaldo score four times in 20 minutes. Real Madrid topped the group and will be a seed going into the knockout round. Mario Mandžukić did not play in the Juventus’ last group game as the Italian champs fell 1-0 at Sevilla, which will see them finish second in the group.
This post will be updated throughout the night…

My b
Russia is assigned to play friendlies with group H. Russia has nothing to do with Croatia’s group
@ petar the kockar
I think all the teams play a home and away friendly with russia except ukraine
Big international clubs like Inter and RM shell out huge dollars to sign the kid and at 21 YOU declare he is over-rated….thanks for today’s laugh.
Here’s a news bulletin, development in professional sports is not linear.
Anyone could have scored a goal with a down and out Malmo who were down 6:0 at that stage junk time goal. Kovacic is overrated.
i have a question for wc qualifiers do we have an extra game vs russia as a friendly and if we do like the other teams in our group would does russia and ukraine play each other
Ho Ho Ho … MATEO !!!
Kovacic is 21 years old and is integrating with all his world class teammates ?
BEAST.
Ofcourse Modric has paved the way for him.
Bale and Kovacic should both give a significant portion of their wages to Luka as they both benefit from his genius. Actually the whole team should chip in the pot to honor the majstor.
Kalinic on fire for Fiorentina.
We have a critical mass of players in their prime and a pipeline of young talent to choose to fill out the squad.
If we choose the inform players for France 2016, we should have our best team since 2008. If we make a run at the Euros then we lay the foundation to have legit shot the World Cup 2018.
I am happy we have a tough draw for World Cup qualifying. That will force us to be sharp and competitive. Also we force all the other teams to give their best.
Competition is the only path to excellence.

C. Torcida is the dumbest fan base 😀
AJMOOO DINAMOOOOOOOO ALEEEEE
haterz gonna hate and ainterz gonna aint
I guess it was the right way to go.
He kicked it only a foot away from the keeper, so it could’ve been saved. But he did well to kick it behind the defender who was stepping in the opposite direction.
He could’ve gone wider, so it would be totally out of the keeper’s reach, but that defender could have potentially stopped it.
Either way, it’s good that he scored despite it being the seventh goal of the match. It will boost his confidence and keep him playing in that deep rotation.
How did he fuck it up. He scored. Placed the ball between the crowd.
Kovacic scores himself a Champions League goal:

C. Torcida
What say you?
no, you win the award for the dumbest ass on this site ziva
We had a discussion on the fortified basement a few days ago discussing fan bases. We came to the consensus that Alabama football fans are the dumbest fans in the US in terms of jock sniffing, hero worshipping and having their livelihood based on the results on their team.
How about Cro?
@armada
you are correct, GNK Dinamo did well unlike your shit ass team rijeka who failed to make it, now that is really shitting the bed
@ Ziva
A hearty congrats is due to Europski Dinamo. Showed some heart in a few of these games and managed not to shit the bed for the entire campaign. Svaka cast!
Even though Europski dynamo finished last, this time around was a much different story as they were competitive outside of the Bayern game.
Yes, they had a fluke result against Arsenal, but this wasn’t like previous years where all 6 matches were blowouts.
