Following an ugly loss against Egypt in their opening match, Croatia were back in action on Sunday picking up their first win of the 2023 World Handball Championship after taking out their frustration on the USA and winning 40-22. For those not familiar to handball, this is the equivalent of the Vatreni beating up on Andorra (USA is making their first appearance in the tournament since 2001) and thus not too much can be taken away from the match…but a win is still a win.
Croatia will be back in action on Tuesday, facing off against a Morocco team that has lost their first two matches and should be dispatched with similar ease to the US. Anything less than a 10-goal win would be considered disappointing. With a win, Croatia will ensure they advance to the second group phase, where they already know that back-to-back World Champions Denmark will be waiting for them on January 19th in what will be a must-win match.

Rakitic with the winner today. Sevilla and Real can’t survive without Modric and Rakitic.

Saw the above in the CroatianSports twitter feed. Excellent assist by Moro for the equalizer in Bologna’s 2-1 win away at Udinese. He also played the entire game. Hope he’ll build on this and continue to get playing time..

I wonder if Dion Beljo will get the start against Dortmund this weekend.
Augsburg generally play with two strikers (Niederlechner and Berisha) and both have injuries.
