Croatia picked up a massive 29–25 win over Slovenia in a penultimate group stage match at the 2026 European Handball Championship, keeping their semifinal hopes firmly alive.
The victory puts Croatia in a strong position, with a win over Hungary on January 29 set to officially secure a place in the Euro semifinals.
Tin Lučin led the way offensively with 7 goals, while goalkeeper Matej Mandić delivered when it mattered most, making 6 huge saves to help maintain momentum in Croatia’s favor throughout the match.
All eyes now turn to Thursday’s showdown against Hungary, with a semifinal berth on the line in what promises to be another high-stakes contest.

Tough match against Slovenia, we were leading the entire match however it was only in the last couple of minutes that the match was won.
Bad news is that one of our best players Srna sustained what looked like a hamstring injury? and could be out of the tournament.
No rest day and tomorrow we play Hungary.
I thought someone was saying we were kinda screwed on goal diff; so can we go thru with just a win now or.. ?
I noticed that post earlier too.
Just looked up the scores, looks like both Iceland and Sweden each tied in different games (so they both unexpectedly dropped points). So Cro is ahead on both in points, in 1st place alone right now (meaning GD doesn’t matter right now anymore)
Livakovic coming home (on loan) for 200k euros. Hopefully this means he’ll be in form for the WC.
Good news
