1- @ Maminjo to respond on one of your comments I agree that Vušković should get playing time in march he’s earned it.
I watched his last game that was the best game I’ve seen him play. I am surprised how much he’s improved in terms of his quickness since September. I think he should get a real chance to earn a staring spot in WC in march friendlies. I’m pretty sure from what I seen he’s lost a few pounds as he’s quickness and movements were sharp.
I can admit I may have been wrong.
If gvardiol doesn’t play in WC and if sutalo doesn’t wake up from his depression and bounce back soon I think the only player that makes sense to par him with would be pong.
2- There’s no way Jaga starts in WC will he be in squad should be but I don’t see him getting much playing time. I like the kid but I can’t see it. He would need to really shine in march if given chance to be one of first subs in WC.
3- I watched Real Sociedad last match I think sucic is turning a corner. Offensively nothing crazy to report the odd nice pass which he will always do here and there. But that was the best game I’ve seen him play in terms of tracking back and effort club or national team. When he got subbed off you can tell the crowd gave a little extra appreciation coach was pleased as well. Read that coach says he’s training well and deserves opportunities. Now he will need to produce offensively start demanding more of the ball and be more aggressive if he wants to lock a starting spot and actually be a good player. But I don’t think the club is going to sell him this winter if I had to bet I think both sides want to make it work. Overall the month of January hasn’t been bad for playtime co pared to previous 4 months.

Pongracic still scares me. I don’t know how well he’s doing at Fiorentina right now. I know early in the year he was being torn apart by fans there, but my worry is largely around his losing record with us.
I think we need to try out Erlic (even though he’s not some highly skilled CB). Seems dependable.
Ideally, Sutalo turns it on in the latter half of the year, but we’ll see what happens.

Yea I know. Jaga is just my dream of us mimicking the way Como plays, with Baturina and him slotted behind a young striker up top (maybe Matanovic). But this is probably something for the future when we don’t have Krama and Perisic anymore.

His career will be fine. Lots of our guys temporarily regressed at this age. I think Rakitic in his second season at Sevilla is a good example (when he lost his starting role and came off the bench at age 24). Perisic at Dortmund was another notable one too (also around the same age). Kova was another one rotting on the bench at Real at that age too. Krama at Leicester as well. Lots of examples.
Problem for Luka Sucic is that the competition got rougher. Jagusic is looking very good, and Baturina took a big step forward. Petar Sucic is already a mainstay, and Kovacic will still be around as the wily veteran for a few more years. Not to mention, there will be other youngsters that come up over the next couple of years (Vrbancic for example).
If Luka doesn’t take a step forward like the rest, he will end up like Lovro Majer. Useful piece, but largely just for depth.

The “speed/agility stuff” is also being worked on with Josko Vlasic.
Will Vuskovic be “perfect” by the WC ? Nope – but he’s going to keep getting better and developing from here vs. some of the late 20s CB vets are only going to get worse from here. Anonymous has eyes on WC 2030 and nothing else. Will Croatia 2030 be better-off playing Luka vs. England in 2026 or one of the vets instead – the answer is obvious
Anonymous watched the 1st half vs. St Pauli – Luka did well – in particular when he received the ball – he tried to move around/change angle/open space before he passed it – to try to move the game forward – haven’t really seen this from him before – so that’s more work he’s been doing
However – who cares how he performs about St Pauli – they suck and he wasn’t really under threat by their attack – the real litmus test is coming up Saturday vs. Bayern/Kane – we need to compare how he did the first time vs. how he does Saturday (the first game was crap bc all the HSV players were getting used to playing w/ each other and nobody knew what their teammates were going to do)

Similar to the logic v-a-v Vuskovic – I think Jagusic should get minutes in March – to start with – but Dalic needs to have eyes on 2030 and he should be given more minutes at the WC (vs. less) as that experience will serve him well (think Euro 2008 disaster vs. Turkey)
Who cares if Croatia loses all three games in 2026 without Josko if it means Croatia has a real chance to win it in 2030.

Anyone can list anything on Stubhub – even when they don’t have the tickets yet – it’s very common – scalpers list tickets for event X at price Y – bc they know/think they can source for a price lower than Y – so they aren’t taking inventory/price risk – if their ask gets hit – than they go ahead and try to buy the tickets (for lower than Y)

I just read an article about fans being in Toronto for all the games. By far we will have the biggest crowd and make a statement. The amount of Croats in the GTA, Peel and Hamilton will be well over 50,000 come game time. I’m sure lots in the states too especially in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Lots of dispora in the east coast. Not sure about the west.

With Iceland unexpectedly beating Sweden by 8 goals it puts us in a difficult situation. We need to beat both Slovenia and Hungary and hope that Sweden or Iceland drop points in their remaining matches otherwise we’ll miss out on the Semi-finals on goal difference.
Yep. Need to win both plus make up GD. Hopefully they can beat Slovenia and then stack the goals vs. Hungary who will be eliminated by that point.
Unfortunately, we cannot make up the goal difference because if Sweden, Croatia and Iceland end up with the same points it is the head to head goal difference that counts.
We lost to Sweden by 8 goals and beat Iceland by 1 goal and Iceland beat Sweden by 8.
Meaning Iceland has +7, Sweden 0 and Croata – 7.
