In Luka Ivanušec’s last match in a Dinamo Zagreb shirt, the Modri came back from a 1-0 deficit against Czech champions, Sparta Prague, to rattle off three unanswered goals in a 3-1 1st leg victory. Goals from Špikić, Perić and the man of the hour, Ivanušec, will give Dinamo a comfortable lead going into the 2nd leg next week. They are now 90 minutes away from the Europa League group stage.
Croatian international, Luka Ivanušec, was taken off in the 87th minute in tears to a standing ovation from the Maksimir faithful. He is moving to Dutch champions, Feyenoord, in the next week and will play Champions League football this season.
Rijeka lost 2-1 to Lille on French soil in the 1st leg of their Conference League playoff round affair but it was not without drama. Rijeka caught Lille on a counter-attack in the 24th minute with 22 year-old Marco Pašalić chipping the keeper for the game’s first goal. Lille would pull one back to enter halftime ties up at 1-1. The match looked to be ending in a draw, which would have been a fantastic result for an HNL side vs. Ligue 1, however Lille scored a winner one minute from injury time to send Rijeka fans into heartbreak.
Only down one goal. Rijeka has all to still play for next week in Croatia.
