The semifinals of the Croatian Cup featured two close matches today as the first leg of the tie wrapped up this afternoon.
Dinamo welcomed Rijeka to Maksimir for a rematch after their league match on Saturday. Today’s contest started much the same as Saturday’s with Rijeka scoring early to go up 1-0.
Marko Lescovic found the back of the net in the sixth minute and his team was able to hold the lead well into the second half despite wave after wave of offense from Dinamo.
But the Modri’s perseverance paid off when Paulo Machado tied the game in the 70th minute.
Machado’s goal was followed in quick succession by a goal from Angelo Henriquez in the 80th to put the Blues up 2-1 once and for all.
Dinamo will take their 2-1 lead into Kantrida where there teams will face each other again on Wednesday, April 22.
Hajduk Split and RNK Split also played a rematch of their league match on Saturday.
The match between the two Split sides took place at Poljud, and the teams played to a close 1-1 draw.
Split went up thanks to a penalty shot from Ante Erceg in the 31st minute, but the lead was short lived due to a goal from Tino-Sven Susic only two minutes later.
The two clubs will be featured in another round of the Splitka Derby when they play the second leg of the semifinals at Park Mladezi on Wednesday, April 22.

interesting article 🙂
@ Dukic
Would actually prefer to see that now than a Rijeka-Dinamo final…

Hoping to see a Hajduk and Dinamo final. Excited to see what torcida has in store.
