A wonderful first half goal followed by a superb defensive performance sees Dinamo through to the next round of Champions League qualifying! In the 20th minute, Bartol Franjić finished a beautiful ball from Luka Ivanušec to put Dinamo ahead 1-0. Legia’s scoring attempts were not nearly enough, as Dinamo’s back line seemed to have the Polish attack on lockdown the entire match. Lovro Majer played very well in the midfield, making up for Josip Mišić and Bruno Petković’s silent performances. Dinamo will now face Moldovan side Sheriff Tiraspol in the next round of qualifiers. Dinamo will be heavy favorites entering the tie.
Winner goes to Champions League while the loser heads to Europa League.
So, I had to go get a PCR test before I come home in a couple of days. I went to the ZG airport and low and behold, Dinamo just arrived and were walking to the bus. I met Krznar and spoke to him for a few minutes and then I asked Majer if he needed a manager 😂…he then took a photo with me!
For all of you that know Denis who used to post here, I met him for drinks a few times in Dubrovnik. Very nice guy and he was super complimentary about Kvartuc!
Tomorrow I’m going for coffee again with veliki Joe Simunic. We are going to Viduka’s Café in Šestine…right close to the centre of ZG! He’s a really down to earth guy…it really is a pleasure to talk to a guy like him about players and some young up and comers. He said Biuk is a great talent…I hope he’s right!
U guys should start a Za Dom Spremni chant in that cafe
Semper joining Genoa…our youth goaltending is looking promising. Oblak could split games with Grbic and that’d be something. These guys are our future and can’t emphasize enough the importance of goaltenders. Throw Pandur in there as well. Livakovic, Kalinic and anyone else on the national team aren’t the guys to lead the way. Call the youth up for qualifying.
Grbić is heavily linked to Lille right now. Hoping he goes there as he will be their number 1. Labrović is also on a mission this year for Rijeka… has been phenomenal every single game except the 3-3 draw with Dinamo.
With that performance against Dinamo, I can’t see anyone wanting him. He looked like he had never played in goal before. What should have been a comfortable victory by 2 or 3 goals was a tie. I don’t think I have ever seen a worse performance in goal, not even in amateur soccer.
Nice speed by franjic tho, let’s hope the kid develops. Honestly thank God for Dinamo. Really if we didn’t have them developing these kids and just letting hajduk sell good Croat kids for 10 cents on the dollar for sure we wouldn’t have the ability to actually carry some depth in most positions
And some of the guys who say play on one club for sure develop a better connection early on
This can only be beneficial for the repka
And I am with all that want hajduk to become strong again. But really right not there isn’t much of a comparison is there
Croatian media is reporting that Juranović is going to Celtic for 3M euros. Not bad for Legia, who just bought him from Hajduk for 400K euros about a year ago. Maybe Hajduk needs to re-think selling their players for so cheap too early?
Was that juranovic’s guy to pick up?
Shitty if so, hate to see one of our own guys get burned
Then the Polak’s gonna lambast him
I would think so. Juranovic plays right back, and from the position from where he started, he shouldn’t allow an opponent to run past him while his team is defending.
Fantastic goal. When the play starts, about 17 seconds in, Franjic is about 10 meters on his own side of the the half. His mark is many meters ahead of him. As the play continues, and Franjic accelerates, his mark lets him proceed, until about 25 meters from goal, the mark realizes that he is in trouble and tries, too late, to catch. Franjic. Great through ball by Ivanusec, as it is very easy to overhit the pass when so much is on the line. And a great finish.
Bonus observation: The Polish commentator says “vracak” at the 30 second mark. Is this Polish for door, as in back door? Anyone married to a Pole for translation?
I banged many a pollocks in my day- they hot but dumb as nails. Comparable to having the engine runnin’ with no one behind the wheel.
P.S. pollock bitches love the guzica back door.
Seljak when you say “his mark” you’re talking about Jura right? Did anyone else notice Juranović just pull up like he expected the center back to pick up the runner(franjo)??
Yes, looked like Juranovic passed off Franjic to a defender. Or maybe just lazy, which reminds me of the Super Joe foul on Sulejmani. When Sulejmani picks up the ball, he is further away from our goal than Kovacic. But Kovacic just jogs back. And then Simunic applies the Chop Heard Round the World.
That goal was spectacular.
Nice ball through and goal
Keep those polaks quiet 🤫
Congratulations to Dinamo
Good work by Dinamo. Only need to beat Sheriff to get to Champions League group stage. Not a bad draw. Hopefully Rijeka can get a win, and Osijek can pull off a comeback.
I didn’t watch it but saw the goal
That was really nice play I think by ivanusec. Kid is doing his part to earn job for the repka
What’s the story with Bartol? Very nice finish on it

Nice quality play
No Dalic will continue just to sit him on the bench I’m afraid
Bravo Dinamo.
What a youth development. Gvardiol leaves as LB and then there’s Franjic (only 21) who plays just as good as Gvardiol as LB and even scores today.
Second half he had to play defensive mid and did amazingly well too.
Ivanusec created the goal: great action and pass. In my book he already surpassed Brekalo as right winger.
Great performance from the entire team!
Shitty we couldn’t play the Serbs. Would have been fun
Dinamo with a good shot at making it to champions league
Will they hang on to orsic Livaković ivanusec majer….?
First time I found myself cheering for Serbs.
I think Dinamo would have crushed them.
I really wanted to see that. Close the chapter on this fabled Dinamo Zvezda pre-war matchup by finishing them off.
Maminjo
Wash your mouth out young man
You’re beginning to sound like mamic
Well, dinamo held up their end but shitty serbs are too shitty to surpass Sheriff so sadly we won’t see us smash them : )
Saw Red star lose…to a Moldova club. Too good to be true for this to happen.
And in sad news today, Red Star are out.
Ugh. They pussed out. Didn’t want to risk losing to Dinamo.
The mess with Messi shows just how dysfunctional unfair and corrupt soccer truly is?
What a joke the game has become. I’m writing Elon hoping he buys Rijeka and rockets them into orbit just like the Arabs have done to PSG and Man city.
You can view today’s Legia Warsaw -Dinamo Zagreb second leg thru Facebook on the CROTV HD page – starts at 3PM EST
Thanks Bobby for the link.
Welcome!
Dinamo have honestly been way too shaky defensively this year. I think we should shift into a 4-2-3-1, with Bulat as the second CM instead of Mišić playing out of position as AM. Adds some defensive stability and creative output. At 19, Bulat is far more skilled and reliable than Mišić. Not to mention, a great leader on the pitch (Šibenik captain last season). Kid has had consistent minutes since he was 16, making him as consistent and experienced as someone in their mid-20s. Going all out attack won’t work, as they will punish us again like last game. Majer is more than capable of playing alone behind Petković. We also need to watch out for their wingbacks who were very effective last game.
I want to see:
Petković
Oršić-Majer-Ivanušec
Jakić-Bulat
Franjić-Lauritsen-KTC-Ristovski
Liva
What to expect:
Petković
Oršić-Majer-Mišić-Ivanušec
Jakić
Franjić-Lauritsen-KTC-Ristovski
Liva
