DINAMO DEFENSE LEFT BUTINA HIGH AND DRY TUESDAY NIGHT IN SLOVENIA
Dinamo Zagreb came into their second leg match with Slovenian champs, Koper, on cruise control. With a 5-1 win in Zagreb a week prior, it looked as if Dinamo would only have to show up and kick the ball around for 90 minutes to get through to the next round. Boy, were they in for a surprise. With Mario Mandžukić’ departure to German club Wolfsburg earlier in the week, Dinamo had absolutely no firepower up top for this match.
Koper scored early in the first half off a corner and went into halftime with a 1-0 lead. Dinamo still looked to be in good shape but were scored on again in the 54′. The boys in Blue really had to sweat out their Champions League season in the 77′ when Igor Bišćan was sent off for a foul in the box. Koper scored the penalty and were up 3-0 with 14 minutes left in the game. If they would’ve scored one more, Dinamo’s European campaign would have ended before it even began. Luckily, the Boys from Zagreb held off the Slovenian champs to go through 5-4 on aggregate.
Dinamo will now play Moldovan champs Sheriff Tiraspol on July 27th with the return leg in Zagreb on August 4th. Sheriff are a tough and tricky club and should have no problem with Dinamo if they play like they did this past match. Dinamo desperately need a striker if they want to stay in European competition this season. Will they make the proper transfer before this tie gets underway?
DINAMO ZAGREB-KOPER GOALS
Yep seen them both play and whilst they are not outstanding they can develop into good keepers. Butina is 37 and was also rumours linking him to the match betting scandal. So i wouldn't mind seeing the back of him at the end of this season.
No need to sign a keeper. for the level we play at Loncaric and Keleva are fine. Loncaric had a solid game against Ajax. He'll be ok.
Have you guys ever seen Loncaric or Keleva play. Butina is way better than both of them.
Do you think DZ lost because they didn't have the attacking authority that Mandzukic brings?
I have no problem with Loncaric or Keleva eiather! Give them a chance and give that old goat the boot!
Two guys who i wouldn't mind us signing for defence is Mytlldland's Kristjan Ipsa and Slovan Liberec's Renato Kelic who is the Croatia Under 19 captain.
Re: DinamoDennis
I have no problem at all with Loncaric or Keleva. I do not believe we need a new keeper. Loncaric is injured at moment so we can't make the switch till he gets fit again. I'm not a fan of Butina either, but if we go out of Europe i couldn't care less if Butina stays in goal for HNL1 matches.
Mandzukic isn't that hard to replace. He only used to score us 15 a season. I think give Kramaric a try and get Vrucina and Bosnjak in and try to spread as many goals around the team and that is probably our short term answer. If we sign foriegn i bet we sign shit for lots of money.
It's wishful thinking gentlemen. In order for any proper transfer to be made, Zdravko Mamic cannot only think about making his pockets fatter. His next 'Golden Goose' is Badelj. Just wait and see.
To answer your question–no, the proper transfer will not be made. Who will take Mandzo's place? Some Brazilian most likely. I hope I'm wrong.
If Dinamo plays like they did in Slovenia, then they have no business in Europe. If they played like they did in the first game, then ok.
How about a new goalie? No one ever mentions that! Butina is brutal! Just look at the second goal! What was he doing ? He is a very very low class keeper! Get him outta here!
oof lol i was hoping you'd miss this report..
The players Dinamo are going for so far not impressing me. More foriegn players and duds. We're even looking at the guy who used to be substitute to Papadopoulos at Panathanaikos now. If we look at what Papa did at Dinamo i'm confident Dodo can do the same and am sure Bosnjak for a year will do better. We should wait to see what's on the market as in my opinion we are panic buying.
In my opinion when a team goes over the point of 6 foriegn players that's when it become unproductive and is working against your countries interest. We do not need another foriegn player. The ones we have are fine, but Dinamo will soon lose its Croatianess and team spirit. If the players we bring in were significantly better fair enough but only Morales and Sammir these days really stand out. The rest arguably you could have a Croatian doing the same if not better job. The idea of another Suarez or Papa arriving concerns me.
