Dinamo Zagreb take on England’s West Ham United today at 12:45 ET to open their 2021-22 Europa League campaign. Coming off a legendary run all the way to the Europa League quarterfinals last season, Dinamo hope to exceed their expectations once again, this time without the likes of Lovro Majer, Joško Gvardiol, and Kristijan Jakić, due to their summer transfers. Dinamo should be aiming to come away with one point tomorrow, which would be a fantastic start to this year’s campaign.
Nikola Vlašić is expected to make his first start for West Ham at Maksimir as a central attacking midfielder. West Ham supporters all over social media are ecstatic to see Vlašić make his first start for the Hammers – especially since it’s against his former rival club Dinamo Zagreb. If anyone is going to tear up my Dinamo in Europa League, I’d want it to be him!
I’m hoping for (and expecting) a 1-1 draw between Dinamo and West Ham. We all know what happened the last time a London side visited Maksimir. Let’s hope to see the same Thursday night in Zagreb.
Pjaca deserves a call up shame tv serviser ruined him in estonia friendly i like him as a player should get a call dalic i expect Ivusic juranovic lovren gvardiol sosa modric kova broz vlasic budimir perisic v slovakia. And dalic might change something v cyprus rests modric plays pasalic kramaric
Honestly, I think if he didn’t injure himself in Estonia… He would have still injured that knee somewhere else.
Remember, he’s blown both knees, plus he’s had a leg muscle injury and even some other injury with his fibula that took him out for a few months too.
The guy is a tank, but injury prone too.
Brekalo and Pjaca starting for Torino this afternoon – 2:45EST
Pjaca didn’t start but a nice game winning goal as a sub!
Yea, he subbed in for Brekalo, and then scores lol.
Poor Josip. Not the best year for him.

Switching to defense; Someone mentioned that Vida is injured and may not be called up for October. And Lovren hasn’t started the past couple of games for Zenit (does anyone know why?). Given the Dalic pander to the home crowd affect, I think it’s possible you see Skoric start the Slovakia game, which would be crazy to me.
Maybe Pongracic gets a chance too. DCC not accepting a transfer is going to hurt his development. Terrible timing for us too as this would of been the perfect time to transition to the youth CB’s, as we all know Dalic won’t change that back line unless his hand is forced.
And to pile on Livakovic, he needs to go. He’s borderline 3rd goalkeeper for the NT.
Lovren has been bad for Zenit this season. There was an article talking about all his errors so far, suggesting that he should be benched. It looks like it’s happened now and he’s lost his starting spot.
Sadly, you might be right about Škorić starting.
Ćaleta-Car is being benched for discipline, and Vida (I believe) is injured.
The logical choice to start would be a Gvardiol and Pongračić partnership.
Pongračić is getting games in, and he’s looked good.
He’s likely a better player than Ćaleta-Car.
If Stanišić gets some more games in, he could also be a candidate.
I think our CB choices need to be these three guys, plus Ćaleta-Car (when he finally plays regularly).
No…the back pass was 100% francuz’s fault, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that Livakovic sucks.
Finally watched the game this morning. So that shitty backpack is on Livakovic, huh?
That’s one way to look at it.. Not the right way, but one way.
How he handled the poor back pass is the issue
I haven’t seen churches burn either, but it’s not like I drive across the countries counting every church.
I go based off the statistics.
Link: []
In France, there were 877 attacks on churches in 2018, two-thirds believed to be arson.
In Canada, there was a huge spike in the summer (68 in response to Indigenous burial sites being found) but still… It’s not an excuse to burn down churches (especially native ones), nor is it an excuse for the media to ignore it.

This was meant to be a reply (not a new comment).
I don’t want to derail this thread though.
Keep the Livakovic hate coming! 😉

Don’t get brainwashed into becoming a liberal by these loser “liberal” fascists, keep it conservative like the real Croats in Croatia, the nationalists, and don’t worry about these libtards, they can burn our churches but they can never take our faith. “God will revenge.”

Livakovic is just an average goalkeeper and will never play for a top European Club. He is good on the line, poor in the air when dealing with crosses and he is a disaster with his feet. In today’s football keeping possession is important and goalkeepers play a vital role in this. The fact that he cannot play with his feet is the main reason why no big European Clubs want him.
I hope that Dalic sticks with the winning team and leaves Ivusic in goal for the upcoming matches against Cyprus away and Slovakia in Osijek, home ground of Ivusic.
Yea, I think it bodes pretty well that we play Slovakia in Osijek.
Dalic loves to pander to the home crowd, which is why he called up hometown-hero Mile Skoric when we played Wales in Osijek during the last qualifying cycle…even though Skoric almost cost us a goal in the end.
I can’t see Dalic resisting the opportunity to play Ivusic in front of the Osijek crowd.
Even though it’s for the wrong reasons, I really hope he plays Ivusic.
Livakovic is shook little boy.
No way you go with that scared one leg whiff.
Ivusic was what we have been praying for. Size AND presence.
Grbic playing now as well.
We need our goalies ZDS style.
Ivusic made some saves that you need to win big matches.
Dinamo had a bizarre day at Maksimir?
That back pass to Livakovic on the second goal was bad, but holy shit, he actually tried to kick it and whiffed. Even his apologists around here must be concerned. He should officially be considered a non-starter for the NT.
I meant on the first goal. The second goal was awful as well though.
I find that Livakovic attempt to clear that backpass very disturbing.
Yes, it was a bad backpass…but Livakovic could have slid with his legs or dove to smother it before Michail Antonio got to it.
The only reason why Antonio was even able to maneuver around Livakovic was because Livakovic went to kick the ball…giving Antonio the space to move around him, and a clear path to goal.
Had Livakovic dove or slid at the ball, he would have beaten Antonio to it…but even if Antonio managed to get to the ball a half-second earlier, it wouldn’t have mattered because Livakovic would have been right in front of both Antonio and the ball and he would have smothered both the ball and Antonio (giving Antonio no space or opportunity to maneuver around him nor chip it over him).
Livakovic either has very poor fundamentals for a keeper…OR
Livakovic is scared to death of any sort of contact.
I have a feeling that Livakovic is a bit of a pussy, and willingly opted to kick the ball just to avoid contact (even though it gifted Antonio a more than 50% chance of getting around him).
After the goal, Livakovic looked at Theophile with his arms out (giving him a WTF look)…but Livakovic is usually a reserved expressionless guy. Makes me think his reaction was mostly theater, just to deflect all of the blame onto him when the cameras were panning onto the two of them.
Totally agree Maminjo livakovic pulled a Lovren …hands in the air pointing and trying to deflect all blame like good old dejan does after a gaffer!
Livakovic is learning from the best, lol.
Gotta dump both these guys.
Liva and Lovren out… Ivusic and Pongracic in.
Livakovic is done – he looks bloody nervous all the time- just never seems comfortable in the net- I’m sure he is a great kid but his game is leaving him now and maybe for good
I think he’s afraid of contact.
It would explain why he refused to slide or dive at Antonio for that first goal.
It would also explain why he is scared of high balls and never wants to challenge anyone for them (and just chooses to stay on his goal line).
Juranovic scored a pk for celtic. They bought him to play left back. Even if hes a rb
Petkovic je prevara the guy needs to quit football or go to a shrink leave dinamo
Theres a reason he didnt leave dinamo since 2018 2019 season nobody wanted him rennes didnt. Lille got grbic for a cheaper deal.
Im not blaming him for 8 goals at euros that didnt do him so well either.
Ivusic played 2 games like a veteran not saying ivusic is yashin but its hard to lose number one for cro just think pletikosa 2014 when he kept suba on bench that season suba was top 5 french leaugue goalkeeper
Livakovic blows. He will never play for us again.
Livakovic sucks.
He no longer deserves a call up for the repka.
Rebic now with 1 goal and 2 assists in 2 games. Just like Krama, shows up for club then he’s missing during international duty. Any reason why CC isn’t starting today? Only following West Ham game.
CC is benched by his club for not leaving so he might be on second team until winter.
Rebic je debil no comment on him.
Livakovic what a joke i tryed defending him but so many mistakes that second west ham goal lol
CC is in the dog house
Before the goal I was going to say why do they have foreigners on defence
Surely we can find a quality young defence prospect to get experience and development in bigger games
I see Petkovic as a zero factor for HNS. It will be a case where U21 kids will be passing him and then the options will be better at the striker position. So we hope. He’s a limited player that had his shots – more than one and just never rose to the magnitude of the moment-I’m sure he’s a nice person with lots of people wanting Bruno to do it but he just seemed lost in the headlights-
spot on. tons of chances. he’s also in his late 20’s already. hope he proves us wrong and does shine, but I think he’s a ‘bridge’ piece until a younger player steps up and takes the #9 role for us. seems like in the short term it might be #9 by commitee (Bruno, Budimir, Krama, Colak, etc.) until we have better options.
Petkovic is a slow poke. It was laughable seeing him play at national level against top teams. He’s big, slow and not able to keep pace with the big dogs. Only good enough to play in Eastern European leagues or even MLS.
I read an article about Petkovic the other day. Apparently Bjelica, Mamic and Dalic all had issues with the fact he’s been considered a striker or forward and yet his goal contributions are very low…his overall career goal scoring record is 0.21 goals/game (41 goals in 195 games). As far as I know, thats worse than any forward I’ve ever checked this stat on. Bruno’s National Team contributions are a little better, he’s at 0.32 goals/game.
Here’s the interesting part of the conversation we should all be interested in. This past week, Damir Krznar has decided to take the pressure off of Petkovic and he explained to the media and all fans that Petkovic is really not a natural striker/forward, he’s a true playmaker that holds up the play extremely well, he’s a fantastic passer, he can dribble and beat 1-2- 0r 3v3n 3 players at a time…and…he draws a lot of attention onto himself which allows for open space to his teammates.
Petkovic will now be wearing the #10 uniform for Dinamo. I believe this was done so the expectations of him to score like a #9 are less and we have a true understanding of his role.
How will this affect the his role with our National Team?
my bad, I said Petkovic will be wearing #10, I should have said he will be playing the #10 role!
How great would it be if Vlašić scored
I want Dinamo to win, but I want Vlašić to score a hat trick
That would be as COMMON as someone trying to burn a church down.
Why are you mocking the fact that churches are being burned?
Are you not a Croat?
Again maminjo. I reside in the so called nations you called out. I haven’t heard or seen of church fires. Out of curiosity, and it’s none of my business, may I ask which nation you reside in?
I haven’t seen churches burn either, but it’s not like I drive across the countries counting every church.
I go based off the statistics.
