Dinamo lost their third consecutive 2-0 Champions League match at Maksimir against PSG on Wednesday.
Sweden’s Zlatan Ibrahimović scored the opener for the French side in the first half, breaking the scoreless tie that Dinamo held until the 33rd minute.
The modri used a 4-3-2-1 formation to attempt to shut down the daunting Parisian offense. Dinamo sent out their strongest back line as well as several defensive midfielders to protect goalkeeper Ivan Kelava.
Dinamo had their chances early on, with both Sammir and Duje Čop sending efforts in on goal, but they were futile.
Sammir sent in a free kick from the edge of the box that resulted in three corner kicks, but they failed to take advantage of any of the opportunities.
Jérémy Ménez supplied PSG’s second goal of the game and put the match just out of reach for Dinamo.
Bottom line, PSG is just in another class than Dinamo. Dinamo were outplayed and out handled throughout the 90 minutes and were unable to defend against the talented French team.
“They are just better. They are a class above us and it showed,” defender Domagoj Vida said.
Vida, who is normally the right back at Dinamo, played as a defensive midfielder for the first time in since joining the Croatian champions.
The team’s hopes of advancing in Europe are not done yet. Dinamo still have to play Dynamo Kiev at home, and visit Porto and PSG in the coming weeks.
16-year-old wunderboy Alen Halilović made his European debut dying minutes of the game in front of less than 10,000 fans who attended the match. Hopefully this will be the first of many European matches for the young forward.
@19Tornado65 well said
@ Anonynous I would never wanna leave craotia maybe when im old love my friends and our way of life just need to kill the commies and mafija and pay a working man and croatia will be fine
Why the fuck would any player anywhere in the world applaud another country’s national anthem? Stupid question by a reporter deliberately looking for shit to stir ( or am I mistranslating “aplaudirati”)
@19Tornado65
How bad is it in Croatia regarding the economy and jobs. I hear different stories from different people.
Yes i do lucky me lucky to have a job in Croaita
19Tornado65 – you work at pleso????? I’ll have a veliki makijato s hladnom mlikom 😉 the memories of leaving zagreb early and hungover irreplaceable!
@ Ziva i didnt mean that all i meant was if you cannot get pumped up for that gaem you dont deserve to be on the 23 man sheet. I think i know the players a little beter than you since i live in croatia and see them since i work at the ZG airport so DA!
Well, considering I know something about the players, I can tell you a majority of them don’t give a shit about Za Dom Spremni.
I have no issues with it. Hell, I’m an ustase apologist, but most of our athletes pay no attention to that shit. It’s the equivalent of an assistant coach walking into the University of Mississippi locker room and sqying when it for the flag (pointing at the confederate flag). Most of the players would look him with a strange look.
This is for ZIva http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxQYQLpZmOQ
@ Ziva well thats my opinion you have yours svak svoj kriz nosi you cannot say my opinion is wrong because its an opinion
Song to Play when we beat srbija 2013 march 13th http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njMFhNK4p30
@19Tornad65………I think half our team wouldn’t give a shit about a coach saying “Za Dom”. they’ll play hard that game regardless of any slogan.
@Anonymous…….pobro, smiri se.
@ Goldenchild because the EU wants serbs and croats to get along Politics, Fuck serbia and pravoslavni who live in croatia and say they sre serbs
If a reporter asked any Croatian the same question I hope he’d answer the same way.
Why would a Serb applaud or anthem?
THis is for Branislav Ivanovic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jAKZETDDKo
JEL’TE SRAM
Jel’te sram,
ili noću mirno spavaš
jel’te savjesti plam proždire i peče,
ili lijepo sanjaš
jel’te sram onih što su pali
i svoje mlade živote dali
za Lijepu našu za ideale,
a sad od njih praviš budale
i dok su oni na čuki stali,
ti i takvi zemlju ste krali
pjevali lažno Ustane bane,
a onda trpaj dok sve ne nestane
i njima ćeš dati orden i plakete
i jedan praznik da ih se sjete
a dok su oni vodili borbe,
ti si u miru radija pretvorbe
i to što si Hrvat zar daje ti pravo
da pljačkaš i kradeš? Čestitam, bravo!
I prisvajaš tuđe da bude tvoje
i sa dva prsta pozdravljaš heroje
i dok si kra’i uzima šta ti se svidi,
neki od pravih su invalidi
i nije im žao što su dali sebe,
al’im je muka kad vide tebe
i šta si sve steka’ u vrime rata
i napravija sebi palače od zlata
ali ne trudom i svojim radom,
nego krađom i debelim obrazom
ali kad istina dođe po svoje
i vidi da zločin sve to je
kad te pozovu pred lice pravde
ti se braniš: to mi Srbi rade
i kad te optuže s potpunim pravom
ti se tada pokriješ zastavom
i braniš hrvatstvom, bogom i vjerom,
što sveto je onim što su od zemljom
ma pokrij se ušima, i sram nek te bude
pravi borci neka ti sude
i u zatvor triba te strpat
pa se tamo pitaj:
kakav si Hrvat, kakav si Hrvat?

Any word on who is the replacement?
On another note. our national team has a friendly in Rijeka against the HNL All Stars novomber 14

Checkout Serbia/Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic’s response when asked if he was going to applaud the croatian anthem. What are your thoughts? Do you think he would like to and the savez is telling them not to or the other way around?
Hoćete li aplaudirati hrvatskoj himni?
“Imam osobni stav po tom pitanju. Nije bitno što bih ja htio, već što će Savez odlučiti. Vidjet ćemo u ožujku…”, za kraj će Ivanović.

Ha, just read that teams like Manchester and Real want to offer almost 15 million euros for the kid. Where do they come up with this stuff?
In other HNL news, Osijek and Lokomotiva lost today to Zagreb and Inter respectively. If Slaven don’t take all three points from Istra this afternoon, we might as well give the title to Dinamo today, though, I think we gave it to them on the first day of the season… It was competitive for a while this year, and was fun while it lasted.
Thought you guys might like this one.

Cacic is getting fired. Lets mark that under No Shit.
Anybody listen to podcasts? I’ve been listening to Jay Mohr, Mohr stories. Dude is hillarious.
I wouldn’t say annoying. Afterall, you and many others respond to what I write. Now, I will admit, some of what is written here is a bit childish (on all sides), but there is only so much soccer you can talk about and some of these other random topics become more interesting, especially when there is nothing timely or topical going on.
And let’s not forget annoying. That is your forte.
Yes you are.
Well, afterall I am the self-proclaimed voice of truth and reason on this website.
You are confusing truth with self-proclamation. Annoyance is never a good thing regardless.
I may make rude, obnoxious and annoying comments on a consistent basis on this website……..but, they are true rude, obnoxious and annoying comments.
What’s not fair?
Not fair, dick.
You take a back seat.
I am the only one who is allowed to have a Napoleonic complex here
Hey, if by making rude, obnoxious and annoying comments on a consistent basis on this website helps you with your Napoleon complex, then more power to you persona.
Hey, if making some extra cash by being a jock sniffer is your thing, then more power to you.
@Colin O’Haravić
If Bobby Orr wants to keep signing cards, shirts, and paraphernalia for me along with Gretzky, Lemieux, and Jordan, then so be it. Can you say Cha-Ching!!!!
Apparently what I am doing is wrong because a person that does not even exist, a persona if you will, says it is uncool? The last time I checked money is cool! Especially easy money!
Keep up the great work on the HNL reports as they are fantastic!
Colin O’Haravić je kralj!
@Colin:
Nice observation about Maribor and Tottenham.
Maybe Dinamo will get lucky and draw Tottenham, if and when they get back into CL.
Hounding someone for an autograph and wearing a jersey are two completely different animals.
I have seen countless celebrities up close and personal in NYC and have never asked for anything or even acknowledged them.
I used to maintain the elevators at the hotel that the US Open players stayed at. It would have been nice to wish Ivanisevic good luck in Croatian, but I never saw him.
I also worked on the set of the Peacemaker as well as a commercial and I deliberately avoided the actors and the assorted cast of 1st class ass sniffers.
For years I worked at the Met Opera House, and would regularly see/be in close contact with the stars.
@Ziva:
What did someone ever do to you to make you feel this way? Let me guess, some drewling ballbag interrupted your dinner with some “lady” to get your Ivan Rukapivac.
@LA Croats:
Celebrities must be equally or more common than in NYC. Generally, it appears as if celebrities walk around NYC without any fanfare.
Also, I want to say there is one exception to the “jock sniffing rule” It is only ok for a grown ass man to get another grown ass man’s autograph if that other man is Tupac. I would his autograph and ask him to take a picture just to prove that he’s still alive. I think that’s fair.
Based on the total of like 500 seconds he’s been on the field and already scored a goal.
Anyway, Tottenham drew Maribor today. Even Dinamo were able to beat them. By association; Dinamo>Tottenham’s B squad?
@Ziva I agree bro! Everyone needs to stop kissing this kids ass.Let’s see what he does in the next few year’s.
What makes you think Halilovic is better than 80% of the team. Based on what? The 15 minutes you have seen him play.
One more thing todays Dinamo best Lineup in my opinion for CL Kelava Vrsaljko Tonel Vida Joe Leko Ademi Sammir Kovacic Halilovic(who cares if he 16 hes better than 80% of the squad) Cop.
mamic ruined Dinamo and made it a business for him self BOLI GA ONA STVAR ZA DINAMO hes just here for money if we look at what Dinamo could have looked like from 2005-2008 season it had so many nice players yet uefa rules were harsher to get to Champions Liga back then this team is great for HNl not for CL also Cacic is a joke best dinamo coach was Josip Kuze in my opnion had good players and look at this Dinamo team that could have competed 2007 if mamic cared about Dinamo not his Bank account Butina Etto Carli Scifo Cale Vukojevic Pokrivac Mandzukic Modric Eduardo Balaban.
@ Anonymous
Depends on what context with Dinamo?
In the HNL, they are head and shoulders above the rest of the teams…
In Europe, they aren’t worth a damn…
Just admit it , Dinamo SUCKS
Yes! The dirty girl in the short shorts is back!
….from someone who should know on Halilovic’s intentions vis a vis the repka….
http://www.hrsport.net/vijesti/449226/nogomet-reprezentacija/jozak-porucio-alen-halilovic-ce-sigurno-igrati-za-hrvatsku/
Agreed……
Any grown adult who asks for a photo or an autograph of another grown adult should look in the mirror and ask yourself, why? Why am I jock sniffer?
Is it really worth being a jock sniffer for a stupid photo or autograph.
@ Sude Mi
Actually, I played basketball competitively into college and even then, if you stuck me in front of a Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson or any other legend, I wouldn’t of cared. Great, they’re legends and it would be cool to say I met, but wtf would have they done for me or my career? Maybe it would be different if Drazen were still with us and I could sit down with him and here his stories.
I’ve met multiple sport stars throughout my life, I just didn’t feel the need to have them sign something or act like a little girl in front of them. When I was a teen, I met Cam Neely at a Croatian wedding years back and I told him how much the Bruins sucked and that the Rangers were better. He bs’ed with me for a bit and got a laugh out of the trash I was talking. No need to have been like “OMG it is THE Cam Neely! Bruins legend! OMG let me get an autograph!!!” — LAME
@ARMADA87
Maybe that’s why you didn’t play the game at a high level?
You can think what you want about Zlatan politically, but over the last 10 years he has been one of the truly ELITE in the world game alongside such stars as Ronaldo, Messi, etc.
As a young up-and-coming footballer like Halilovic, that is something impressive, particularly given his young age.
P.S. Over-using the term “jock-sniffer” negates its impact; you and Ziva are certainly getting there….
@ Ziva
almost forgot about it haha thanks for the laugh this morning

@ Sude Mi
I wouldn’t give two shits whether I met Ibra or not. It would make my day to maybe meet a guy like Zvone Boban (not in a Ziva Istina, Jock Sniffing type of way) and just shoot the breeze with him and hear his stories, but there is no footballer out there I would really be like “omgomgomgomgomg I MET PLAYER XYZ”
@Armada….that photo could be used as the definition of jock sniffing and jersey chasing if you replace Halilovic with a random jersey-chasing fan. Still, that photo is not as bad as last year’s image of Kruno Jurcic with Mourinho.
Until Halilovic says he is playing for Cro, then I will believe it.
@ARMADA87
He probably did shit his shorts, wouldn’t you?!? LOL
Anyone catch this pic of Ibra and Alen lol kid looks like he is 8 in this pic and just shit his shorts meeting Ibra for the first time

U Maksimiru definitivno potvrdili: ‘Možete napisati da će Alen Halilović igrati za Hrvatsku’
http://is.gd/fUpzOY
Šime thinks everyone is stupid haha.
@Thegoldenchild,
I thought Dinamo had a shot against Dynamo. However, I didnt expect the stadium to be a ghost town. I have dinamo-1-1-Dynamo
Hey Ante B , no me , i root for all Croatian teams when they play other countries ! Take it easy on the name calling before U are sure who it is . Bog,Hrvati,i Hajduk !!!
No Sime, I can’t but I can say odjebi pederu. Di je tvoj klub? U pizdi materinoj
Ante B , can you say ZERO
@Ante
Improvement!
@Tornado
Aside from a little bit of a ridiculous comment, I still agree with your idea of Modric not working well with Real. So far, we’ve seen small spurts of good play but he needs to touch the ball a lot more doing games to be effective…that’s just the type of player he is. If you guys watch the games, just check out his body language now compared to how he used to play in his first couple years at Tottenham. The joy of things look to have dissipated a bit, and I thought Mourinho would actually benefit his game a bit….
We’ll see how things go for the rest of the year, but he doesn’t look tooo happy at the moment.
At least Dinamo is being consistent this time around. Three 2-0 defeats…not bad.
Ha, I’m just giving ya a hard time. 🙂
Man all i said was that stupid sites and shows such as fox soccer and goal.com are moran americans who dont know the sport nogomet was invented long before 2002 thats all im sure your knowledge of the game is great.
BUT, I actually went to church last Sunday, so that probably makes me the veliki-est hrvat of them all. Like my grandma used to say “hvala bogu da si hrvatskom” or something like that.
Svaka ti dala
I’m Amerikan.
@ Anonymous what i meant was true americans who started watching Nogomet 2002 and idiots who only know Messi Ronaldo and call manchester united manu which is wrong, i didnt mean Croaitan Americans we are all croatians not americans .
@19Tornado65
Americans should stay away from Nogomet they have no clue about the game….
Nice generality, how old are you? Wow, too funny.
Americans should stay away from Nogomet they have no clue about the game same goes for these fake americans who think they are EPL La Liga fans lol. Again Modric sve najbolje ali REAL NIJE EKIPA ZA TEBE, Ronaldo Di Maria Khedira Ramos Pepe Smece svi sebicni smecari jedino Casillas Valja
Ovaj Dinamo man i didnt watch i watch Real Borussija i am a hajduk and zadar fan i go to every zadar game, no baise BUT this Dinamo come on man, these players are not for LP, Cacicu Cacicu man, Vida hasnt played DM since his days in osijek man hes a CB And gps Kelava man he is just a eye wash all hype not a good keeper Subasic is much better, This team is a joke and its a shame you see other small teams compete atleast but Dinamo apsolute Joke i even think a in form RNK Split is 10 times better than Dinamo, Enjoy the Sold and Fake Kup and HNL you win you guys deserve it
Don’t see Dinamo stealing any points this go around either…
Good piece about Lewis Holtby, English-German Schalke player that Halilovic should read and understand!
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2222369/Lewis-Holtby–Schalke-star-coming-Arsenal.html
@19Tornado65
Apsolutno!
Doci ce i taj dan, odjebat ce narkoman!!
Pili smo pelina, pusili smo trave
Najvise volimo Mamica bez glave
Modric played well but Ronaldo Di Maria man its called passing the ball and Corluka has PHD in defense compared to izvikani igraci poput pepe i Serigia Ramosa!
My wishful thinking prediction was that Dinamo might actually win a game. Halilovic looks nervous as hell
Halilovic in for 180 seconds. What a shame.
@goldenchild,
What was your “wishful thinking prediction” ?
My “wishful thinking prediction” was a Porto – PSG 2 team parlay today. Hopefully, I dont jinx it these last few minutes.
Rakitic thinks that was a terrible header by PSG for the third goal
I wish my wishful thinking prediction was right. Oh well.
Formation is great, and they have had some great opportunities to attack but here are a few problems:
1. Compare PSG forwards attacking the defense to Dinamo. It’s night and day. Players know where to go, where to put the ball, and you feel like they are going to score. Dinamo look dangerous until they get to the final third, and then all the imagination is gone.
2. Possession: Of course Dinamo can only win this game on the counter, but try to hold the ball for at least a couple minutes. The more you can hold the ball, the more rest you get, the more impatient they get, and you can actually have a say in how the game is managed.
3. Defense: Fuck are we bad. I’m still going to go out and say that Simunic is the best all around defender on the team, which tells you what kind of trouble they are in. Trying to catch Ibrahimovic using offside traps is a horrible idea, giving PSG wide open lanes to shoot against Kelava is bad, and having Kelava in goal is the worst idea.
Kranjcar checks in
nice slide tackle by Simunic
why would it hurt. this could be the best thing for dinamo in the long term. yeah, it looks bad on TV, but who really cares or pays attention to that. At some point the fans have to send a message to mamic that enough is enough. This is a start.
By the way, is anyone watching Porto-Dynamo. Kranjcar is on the bench and due to his weight the chair he was sitting on collapsed.
@Ziva
At this point Id be impressed if he developed to be a Badelj.
Milan Badelj looks better and better to me every time i watch him play. I see him putting in a lot of good years for us.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Y1uJH6dlNMo
@Ante B, it still hurts to have to see this
I gots (invoking my black slang) me a question regarding Kovacic. Whats up with this kid? As I’ve said before with these young kids, its more hype to me than anything. I’m not seeing it on the field with him. I know he’s still young but he’s more of a Badelj type to me.
modric in for khedeira to start the second half for real. not playing well so far. still 1-1
Major points for the ZG publics staying home and far way from Maksimir. Mamic can’t buy our pride. Hvala Bogu it’s under 10,000
The real question is, can Dinamo just decline to play the rest of their games and offer up say a blanket 3-0 loss?
It’s going that way anyway and they can save on transport costs, etc.
“Good to see GPS Kelava is in his usual form.”
Yep, it’s all his fault. Whatever.
Honestly, I’m impressed we held them scoreless for 34 minutes. Like I said, just score a goal and that will be a victory in itself. I want to see Halilovic.
Horrible defending by Vida on the Ibrahimovic goal.
Good to see GPS Kelava is in his usual form.
@Davor…….I’d say about 5,000 people at the game.
At least Colin is on the board. Where are all the rest of the Dinamo fans?
I think Vida is lost in that CDM role. I prefer him as a RB. Dude is a beast at that RB position. PSG wouldn’t have scored that second goal with Vida at RB. Both goals came from that (Dinamo’s) right side.
Any fans at the game?
Yikes, 2-0.
aaaaaaaand a I type that, PSG scores. Was bound to happen.
I have really been liking the way dinamo is playing this game, tactically speaking. The formation is solid. There’s really only so much they can do, but they’re doing it. Vida at DFM is awesome. He’s usually playing as a wingback anyway, why to put him in the MF once in a while. Besides that, they’re still dinamo. Too much dribbling the ball and trying to beat everybody. They look nervous. So, how many minutes will Halilovic get today?
what happened to the “discussion” ?
Its like talking to the wall here at dinamosoccerreport.com
Dortmuuuuuuuuuuuuuuund
Vida is starting to play like Vukojevic
Dinamooooooooooooooooooooooooooo….
Kiev
Porto up 1-0. Nice goal
How do you guys watch listen on your iPhones?
Great, Modric & Perisic on the bench…
Dinamo gets my undivided attention now.
Ha, Ibrahimovic nearly put one in one a breakaway in the 2nd minute. Kelava got his fat self in front of him for the save. Gonna be a long 90 min.
Im in a pickle: Dinamo-PSG or Dortmund-Real ?
I like the Dinamo lineup. Lets see what Vida can do at DM. I like him there defensively, but offensively he struggles to make the perfect pass.
Oh boy…….this is gonna get bad before it gets worse.
Prediction: Halilovic comes off the bench late, and a few hours later PSG leave a big bag of Euro’s at Maksimir and take him back to Paris with them.
Sammir as the #9! Woot-Woot!!!
Vida as a defensive mid and Sammir as the lone striker. I’m digging this line up. lots of defense and lots of speed up top. Ibanez will be running up and down the line. This might not be as terrible as we all expect. I just want a goal. That’s all I ask.
here we gooooo – Kelava – Vrsaljko, Puljić, Šimunić, Pivarić – Vida, Brozović, Kovačić – Ibanez, Čop – Sammir
I’m on Team Colin!
Nice line up! Halilovic on the bench,,,nice.
“It’s the timing.”
yaaaaaaaaaa. dinamosoccerreport.com……. fu…… yaaaaaaaa
Konacnooooo
Hvala Colin, I knew someone would come through.
