Happy New Year CroatianSports.com nation! It was a great 2025 where we saw:
- Our beloved Vatreni easily qualify for the 2026 World Cup
- Croatian handball take 2nd place at the world championships
- Vitomir Maričić break the world record for longest breath hold under water
- Ante Delija and Brando Peričić both record their first wins in the UFC heavyweight division
Can’t wait to run it back with you guys in 2026!

Sretna Nova ,Ante. Continued success with the site. Just to get things revved up for Toronto -Croatia and our big hosting event, Zapresic boys will be here end of March for a show and I’m sure you will see Toronto Croatians and all who join us putting together something special. I’m hearing the largest Croatian flag that will be unfurled that will be front and center throughout the WC game that we play against Panama. Remember, this area has an MLS team for years under Toronto Metro Croatia and those teams brought the fans and sometimes the refs never made it out of the stadium. Vivid memory as a kid.
HNL scouting sucks
That none of them signed Mateo Bondic before they did
How could all 10 teams miss him? lol
There is being a nose-picker and then there is being a NOSE-PICKER
Meanwhile Marcelo Ryan said no to Boban Bhahahahaahhahaahahha
*before USG did
I am all for change, but when it comes to Livakovic in 2026, if he performs well in March friendlies, I am of the opinion, – Innocent until proven guilty. After 2026, revisit, and open up the competition.
I am all in on Vuskovic live or die. He has already proven he can save our collective lives in 2026.
DALIC WE GOT A NEW STRIKER FOR YOU !!!!
Per Fabrizio
🚨🇧🇪 Union Saint-Gilloise have agreed on deal to sign striker Mateo Biondic in a move from 4th division in Germany… to Champions League football.
Agreement between the clubs done with Eintracht Trier, medical following soon. 🇩🇪
some footage
2nd goal in the 3-0 win
He’s built like a tank and is 6’2″ !

More footage
Winning header goal in 2-1 win last month
Crazy that there is English commentary for 4th tier Germany games

Can you imagine if he starts scoring in the Champions League for USG and becomes the starting #9 for Croatia at the World Cup ?
Would be out of nowhere and crazier that the Prso rise to fame
Dalic will love him
He’s only made 10 IG posts
All football related – no bitches, vacations, bubble tea crap etc
And
All 10 have a different Bible verse cited
Beautiful stuff
He played in the U14 Croatia team made up of German diaspora only – Igor, Franjo and Vidovic were on the same team – no doubt USG called Franjo to see what his character is like etc
USG still have to play Stanisic and Pasalic in the CL
Ante – don’t forget to include Biondic in the weekend cooler / list of upcoming CL/Europe fixtures !!!
Why not semper? He has a big built and is reliable in his saves.
Algeria was the BEST team in Group Stages @ Afcon
If they will the whole thing – Vladimir Petkovic moves up to 1st in line for candidates post-Dalic ? Surely he has to be ahead of Corluka and Olic FFS
Here is an eye test with notes from a professional football coach (who’s coached Estaveo 1-on-1, etc) on Vuskovic vs. Bremen – it’s a nice read and he includes clips and write-ups

@Crnkovic – I still don’t understand why you completely dismiss Dalic playing Vuskovic up front – he has the technique (Scorpion Kicks), he has the aerial ability, the one thing that could be better is “movement” attacking the space in the box – but I mean Arsenal paid 73.5m for Gykores who looks like he’s running with brick feet and movement is non-existent – not all “strikers” are Drogba mold (which you are describing) there are many variations (please google search “different type of strikers” and AI will provide a list of different types and player examples for each type) – I think a better comparison would be can he be a Fellani for us and why not ?
Here are all of Fellani’s goals for Belgium and for Man U – you notice that 90% of the goals he scored were from headers in the box where he dominated aerially ? He wasn’t a “striker” per se (DM and central midfielders – was a CB in youth), but his coaches played him there

Again – I’m comparing Vuskovic at striker vs. Budimir at striker – Budimir hasn’t scored one header goal for Croatia from what Anonymous can remember (and that includes him being in the box for over 100 offensive corners) – surely if we’re playing a big man up top – Vuskovic > Budimir on aerial ability – Budimir might be better for hold-up play – but he offers nothing in terms of pressing nor link-up play or anything else – Dalic plays him as target man in the box – but he doesn’t score goals from headers – so what’s the point?
Vusko should of course be prioritized as CB – but I personally think some creative thinking from Dalic on how to utilize Vusko aerial ability is warranted – and not dismissed bc it requires some effort to think how to maximize the ability of individuals in the squad (in fairness like he did putting Jakic at RB – who’s never played that position in his life before really)
I hear what you are saying Anon. Your logic is sound and your creative problem solving is a breath of fresh air.
What I’m saying is that people who haven’t played good level football (and also many of those who have but lack the intellectual capacity to analyse what they themselves are doing) don’t seem to understand what the actual mechanics are in a game of football. This has always been the case, but in recent years it has become exacerbated as a result of the technocratic bourgeois take over of football culture. Among the factors involved in this take over is the obsession with statistics. Because if things can be mapped quantitatively allows educated geeks (who have never played football, because football is a working class game) to express an expertise over the game. The reality is that the “eye test” of a person who understands the game is infinitely superior to any statistical model.
The hardest part of playing in any position. (Ok maybe not “the hardest” but rather the subtle key.) are the small small elements of body positioning, timing and movement and first touch which are uniquely useful for a player ONLY in that position. For example, let’s take defending crosses as a central defender. You can be big, powerful in the air, fast and with technique like beckenbuar, BUT you will still be a rubbish central defender if you do not have it in your muscle memory to position your body automatically so that you can see the attacker you are marking and at the same time the ball on the wing. This is a tiny detail, but it means absolutely everything. If you don’t do that the striker will lose you and they will score. It doesn’t matter how big strong fast good at tackling you are. All of that means zero if you lose your man. That is not something you can teach quickly. The game moves so fast it has to be automatic.
It’s the same for any position.
Striker:
The striker has to do something where his/her steps take the defender a step towards the ball and create the space to receive to the side of the defender. It’s like a ballroom sequence. It’s one step towards the ball, one step backwards, (lateral pitch wise) and a third step forward. This is how strikers make space. Then the touch has to be right for a striker. The runs and moves have to be timed perfectly. The runs have to be curved with the right arc. All these things have to be unconscious and instant. You can’t be thinking about it, there is no time, it has to be natural. Mario pasalic has those striker movements and touches. They come naturally to him. I can see it when he plays. It doesn’t mean he is GOOD at them, it just means he DOES THEM. a player who doesn’t move in that way can’t play in that position. It’s a simple as that. It’s got nothing to do with the quality of the player or their attributes. It’s about what their natural movements are.
Of course any player can play anywhere. If livakovic played as a striker in Sunday league he would probably be quite good. We’re talking about the World Cup here bro. Lmao
Mr. Small Feet has joined Borussia Mönchengladbach on loan
Please mark Jan 17th on your calendar’s as that will be Vuskovic vs. Kota Takai – the two Tttenham CBs fighting it out in the Bundesliga
Borussia Mönchengladbach journalist claiming they have a buy-option on Takai….
Hull lost 1 – 0 at home to Stoke.
Pandur will be disappointed with the goal, he really should have done a lot better.
If the team feels they are confident in Livakovic and he regains form backup should be Kotarski/Pandur
Sutalo/DCC center back pairing with a serious contender in Hajdukovac at Porto Prpic joining
Marco Pasalic/Orsic as offensive wingers and possible options in versatile wingbacks Juranovic/Bradaric
Stanisic and Gvardiol best be used as our wing backs they will provide the play we need forward and back… if we can successfully do this we can be dangerous with an ok Striker or lone forward
Modric Perisic Petar Sucic a healthy Kovacic/Moro and Mario Pasalic solidifying the mid with possible resurrection of a Vlasic/Majer/L.Sucic/Baturina/Fruk or a newcomer in Tomo Basic or croatian league under the radar star Jagusic
In attack veterans Budimir Kramaric a inform Petkovic and versatile Ivanovic with any Matanovic/Musa/Beljo with the latter 3 battling for a spot as they are similar in traits
This is the core Dalic is following so let’s see who else may pop up!
under the radar star jagušić
hahahah
Once he brakes out of the HNL and can become a star in top 5 league then I consider him legit.. till then under the radar my friend.. but typically you have to take someone from Croatian league to world cup and as most of us know he is probably the one to take at the moment…
is that what they said about dario simic
Kotarski should not have been given that chance in the first instance
Tell me guys
How does vuskovic not get heavy play time in March in the friendlies?
Like do we expect dalic to go with the semi proven vets like sutalo
Stanisic gvardi vuskovic and Jakic
Should be the starters against England, no?
Yes, absolutely all of them should start. Caleta-Car is the only other defence man I would entrust. The rest are shaky and inconsistent. Sosa and Jurnaovic get no minutes.
We need to implement a new strategy with new lineup combos. Vlasic as an attacking mid over anyone. You don’t sit someone who’s been hot all last year. Kovacic is injury prone too.
I’ve said this so many times. Introducing a new goalkeeper is what we need. Argentina did it after Romero, Spain did it after De Gea, England did it after Hart. This is a different scenario because Livakovic still has time but no minutes. We kept Pletikosa way too long and should’ve introduced Subasic way before. He played on,y two tournaments. You have to take gambles even for a short tournament like the World Cup.
Happy new year brothers and sisters
Surely pandur is our most in form guy
Everyone knows tho it will be livakovic and maybe he will catch that form again for a month….
Back 4 should be solid enough defensively
It’s going forward like others have said that may be something else
Stanisic vuskovic and gvardiol are all for sure dangerous and can move the ball well to our midfielders and push forward as needed
As long as we have budimir or someone to crash the net with the height off the back line like vuskovic it can get dangerous for others to mark all the threats
Perišić many know has a dangerous header and has a knack for his little header flick he does too
I don’t know how dangerous vuskovic headers are at this point but his height will surely trouble defenders
And then what double on him while you have gvardi lurking
I think if we can deliver good crosses we will be a serious threat from set pieces
This is the way we get goals I feel this go around

Daniel Peretz (Bayern and NT keeper) going on loan to Southampton (“English second tier”) as wasn’t playing at Hamburg behind Fernandez
Why didn’t Liva go to Southampton ? Because he doesn’t want to face 15 shots a game in a better league – he wants to face 1 shot a game at Dinamo
Why didn’t Liva go to Hamburg who need a 2nd keeper now ? Because he doesn’t want to go to a club where he has to FIGHT to become #1 (because ever time he has tried to fight for #1 with competition he has failed – every single time) – he wants to stroll into Dinamo and be handed #1 position on a plater so he can face his 1 shot a game
Sad and beta behaviour by Liva
Croatia #1 LMAO
We don’t have any real good options at GK.
I don’t like that he’s not playing…but he’s still been doing well for us when he suits up.
It’s a weird situation, and I think that Kotarski messed up more than anyone here when he received a legitimate shot to become our number 1 keeper…then proceeded to play like a complete buffoon in every single club match afterward.
I guess Pandur deserves a shot now to see if he can usurp Livaković, but it’s likely that Dalić has been traumatized by the Kotarski fiasco and is afraid to try another new keeper again.
Apparently Liva is on 3m p.a. at Fene
That’s the hold-up – nobody wants to pay him the same wages
Liva needs to decide $$$ or NT – but he can’t have both
If he was serious about the NT – he’d already have offered to take a pay-cut to make sure he’s at a proper club and will face proper shots
Sadly looks like he’s just chasing the money
The funniest about Dalic – is he throws Kotarki in vs. Gibraltar – there was zero to be learnt from that game – he want to test him? Needs to go in vs. Monte or Czechia (at least) to learn something. I watched Kotarski closely vs. Tttenham and he really had a terrible game in the most high-profile game of his season – maybe he puts too much pressure on himself – not sure – but he didn’t shine when he needed too (in fairness to him the defence in front of him was at times abysmal that game too and he got exposed)
On Pandur – Sergej has been asking for another keeper to give Pandur competition (as they don’t have a legitimate #2 to push him) – so for all we know Pandur might be riding the pine soon too – they are trying to sign a keeper from Middlesborough as a free-agent
The keeper saga continues
