NK ZADAR 0 – 0 GNK DINAMO ZAGREB
Zadar could be celebrating as if they were victorious, because well, in a sense, they were.
The team that has barley hung on to first-division status for several years in a row has shut down the mighty Dinamo Zagreb in front of 3,000 at Stadion Stanovi.
Dinamo created chance after chance, owning the possession, and controlling the game, but what happened?
Well for one, the DID score a goal; a goal that should have won the game for them. But it was quickly called off by the assistant referee and ruled offsides.
Dinamo players hopelessly protested, but the call would stand, keeping the teams equal, which is how they would finish.
They certainly did not look like equals, though. Zadar barely had an scoring threat all game, and Dinamo keeper, Oliver Zelenika had little to do through the 90 minutes.
Zadar goalkeeper, Mladen Matković, had his work cut out for him, and did well for himself and his team, and ultimately, for the loyal fans of NK Zadar.
Dinamo missed an opportunity to climb further a head on the league table, and only sit one point clear of second place, which is occupied by three teams.
Zadar on the other hand should be quite pleased with themselves; keeping the top-scoring team scoreless for only they second time this season, and currently happily rest in mid-table obscurity with few teams threatening below them.
Zadar: Matković – Šimurina, Jerbić, Neretljak, Vasilj – Bilaver (od 36. Gržan), Sarić (od 63. Surać), Begonja, Hrgović – Terkeš (od 57. Ivančić), Tadić
Dinamo: Zelenika – Pinto, Šimunović, Addy (od 87. Leko), Pivarić – Sare, Ademi (od 79. Pamić), Antolić (od 65. Čop), Sammir – Fernandes, Soudani
HNK RIJEKA 1 – 1 HNK HAJDUK SPLIT
The Adriatic Derby was certainly the marquee match-up of the weekend. It has also certainly heated up in the past few seasons, more particularly this season, on the heels of Rijeka’s emerging dominance.
Stadion Kantrida hosted a real treat on Saturday that showcased everything that Croatian soccer has to offer: talent, excitement, and of course, passion.
Rijeka’s Ivan Tomečak had the first scoring chance in the game, but just missed the mark, and missed an opportunity to go ahead.
But only several minutes later, glory struck and from none other than Leon Benko who volleyed a high floating cross into the back of the net.
His left-footed strike was perfectly timed and beat Lovre Kalinić on his far side, hitting the post, and into the net. Benko had to reach high in the air with his leg and struck it perfectly to get the 10,000 fans at Kantrida on their feet.
The first half ended with Rijeka on top, but Hajduk came back with a big goal from Jean Evrard Kouassi in the 90+ 58th minute to tie the match.
Both teams went to share the points, and unfortunately missed a chance for one of them to take over the top position in the league.
The fans were entertained with the exciting game that was played in front of them, but for many, that was not enough.
Armada and Torcida were at their bests this weekend and clashed with each other and police after a flare was tossed at some of Rijeka’s more casual spectators.
Flares then began being tossed from one group of supporters to the others. Soon, members of Torcida and Armada momentarily abandoned watching the game and went after each other in full force.
Police were soon involved and had to break apart the groups so the match could continue.
Hajduk and Rijeka will surly continue their efforts to climb to the top of the table. Rijkea will now face Dinamo next weekend, and Hadjuk will participate in the Split Derby and take on their noisy neighbors, RNK Split.
NK LOKOMOTIVA 5 – 0 NK OSIJEK
Lokomotiva broke the spirits of NK Osijek on Satruday beating them in Zagreb with a score of 5-0.
All five goals were scored by five different goal scorers, so no matter which player Osijek tried to stop, there was another one there to step up and help his team.
Ivan Lendrić made his debut for the Lokosi, and scored his first goal with the club in the 30th minute to put his team in the lead. The 22-year-old Split native spent his youth and with Hajduk, but joined Lokomotiva this season.
Lokomotiva youth product, Karlo Bručić scored only three minutes later to double the lead.
Osijek was able to escape the first half down by only two goals, but Lokomotiva picked up right where they left off when the second half started.
Goals by Petar Misić, Ante Budimir, and Damir Sovšić came easily for the home team as they walked their way to three points.
The three points keeps them tied for second place with Hajduk and Rijeka, all three teams only one point behind Dinamo.
Osijek used to flaunt their defensive strengths last season, giving up the second least amount of goals, and owning the second most shutouts in the first half of the season last year, but this year, Osijek have given up the most goals in the past 11 weeks than any other team this. With 28 goals against, Osijek will need to tighten up their defense if they want to make it in the prva liga.
NK HRVATSKI DRAGOVOLJAC 0 – 0 NK SLAVEN BELUPO
The two clubs played to a scoreless draw on Saturday, to no one’s surprise.
The two clubs have been falling behind the rest of the league, and have only scored a combined 17 goals in the 11 weeks of the 2013/14 season.
Slaven is in a “rebuilding stage” and new coach, Mladen Fračić, states it will only last “one month.”
Either way, the teams are slipping and will need to reenforce themselves if they have any aspirations of staying in Croatia’s top flight league.
RNK SPLIT 0 – 1 NK ISTRA 1961
Istra traveled to Youth Park in Split over the weekend and did the unthinkable by beating Split at home.
Sandi Križman struck in the 23rd minute putting his team in the lead, a lead that they would carry through the match and all the way home, along with three points.
Split did not go down quietly.
They took the second half as their own and gave everything they had to find an equalizer. Istrian keeper, Andrej Prskalo made save after save to keep his team in the lead. He made saves from corner kicks, saves from headers, and saves from point blank range.
Istra is showing that they are a team that can compete with anyone in the league, and are looking forward to more challenges down the road.
Split must now shake off the tough loss and look ahead to next week where they play their crosstown rivals, Hajduk.
Crap if were going back that far, we can’t forget Lamza, Jerkovic, Jazbinsek, and on Hajduk’s side can’t forget Matesic. I think the players are very even and not what homer hajdukovac said.
Cant forget about Žungul for Hajduk Split. Anybody that doesn’t know about him read about him. Pretty interesting story.
I think Soldo is a man worth mentioning for Dinamo, one of my favorite players out of Dinamo always consistent and ruled Stuttgart!
Asanovic, Jarni, Bilic, Stimac, Pletikosa, Srna, Rapajic, Vukas, sliskovic, surjak, vulic, Boksic, Tudor, vujovic
Player wise I’d say 50/50 talent wise. Vukas is going way back prob doesn’t count but the mans name is worth mentioning.
Best fans? Oldest maybe but not the best. Tend to compromise more with the club than any other club. Pride>compromise. Really good Italian style supporters.
Best players? Suker, Boban, Modric, Corluka, Dudu, Mandzukic, Zambata, Ladic, Prosinecki, Kranjcar, Mlinaric, Olic, Wolfl, etc.
Best history? Pre 1940s on par with Gradanski. During NDH and after, compromise/siding with the partizani. After 90, Dinamo has the best history. Also a European title. Hajduk doesn’t have one.
Best region? During the summer, for sure. For te rest of the year everyone lives in Zagreb.
Ouch.
Hajduk fans, just ignore the Italians and purgers, let them bitch and whine. Hajduk will always have the best fans, history, players, located in the best region of Croatia with the best people. Let others be jealous of us, and do not let it bother you. Turn the other cheek.
HAJDUK ZIVI VJECNO!
zivi bili pa vidili
You are delusional. You make me laugh.
Thank you for the entertainment.
Vidimo se.
U Boj – daleko iza devet sela daleko sam ja gdje su vuci, vile hajduci tamo tebe cekam ja

Mrs armada you Italian cunt! Samo bili
nije bitno is almost as big as I am
I would just love to see this guy say those things to Nije Bitno’s face. Id be like Jeff Van Gundy holding his legs while on the floor. U boj, pazi se, nikad golim kurcem u koprive.
Wow. Now Nije Bitno is teaching us Croatian. Fuckin joke.
Dude you are not the only one who knows the language so get a life. Others do as well but you are a bit of a narcissitc doucebag who has to broadcast it. Congratuations.
Also pussy do you really think it was a good one. It is called sarcasm. Look it up.
Go back to your sandbox and complain all you want about who started with the rocks and your justification of the flares. Be the little pussy you are.
Za dom spremni. (go to wiki and figure that out or ask your parents who failed you)
word……..anyone who has t use google to translate basic croatian, that can only mean one thing……….your parents/family/friends have failed you.
Look at it this way now you can steal my line and talk shit to a friend.
Nije Bitno, Ante B and a few others teaching cro on croatians sports since?????……..
I know its a good one and i got more, unfortunately ran out of time and have to split.
I just wonder who you had to call and ask what that meant. Mama, Tata, Dida or Baba???? I find it amusing that half of you guys come onto a Croatian site and run your mouths but when you get told in Croatian you have too google translate or or ask family or friends.
All in all, what i wrote earlier never supported Torcida and that’s why i told you what i did. Learn how to act a or you will told in Croatian accordingly.
Good one Nije. Now get some education. Take the emotion out it.
^^Propali Abortus^^
Your parents failed you a long time ago.
If you cant comprehend what i wrote then your parents have failed you son! Never said what they did was good.
Nije bitno you are the biggest jackass. Stop making excuses for your Torcida. Douche bag.
true……Ideal situation is being in a box that has HD TV so you can watch other sporting events, all in the comfort of wi-fi access and drink/food.
Never sat in Zapad. All my degenerate friends keep buying tickets in Sjever, and to a lesser extent, Istok. Istok is bearable, but Sjever is a disaster. Next time I’m just gonna show up in a wheelchair and roll into Jug.
Pfffffft
VIP without free wi-fi and decent food and drink options is not real VIP. Surprised you’d be up for that.
This is why sit in the VIP section. Pay the extra money and avoid the scum in the cheap seats.
Ne brini Rijeko ima jos vrba
Every city and region has its own negative. Zagreb has Trg Marsala Tita, Rijeka has its Italian sympathizes, Dalmacija has the most statues dedicated to partizani and the petokraka that I have ever seen, and so on and so forth.
To the throwing of flares, my experience has always been if you’re man enough to light one in the tribine, be man enough to hold onto it until it burns out then just drop it.
There isn’t very many Italian sympathizers in Dalmacija but we all know that in Istra there is (Rijeka isnt part of Istra) but they def love the Italians more than Dalmatinci do and got a lot more mujos and serbs than Dalmatia. They don’t call it Reka or Fiume for nothing. Not liking having to post this about Rijeka cause its a Croatian city and wish there wasn’t all those talijani and srbi/mujos there ali jebiga it is what it is.
U boj read my post a lil better jackass!
Incredible the stupidity on this site. People trying to justify throwing flares. Pussies both sides and a fuckin joke.
By Italians you mean the Italian sympathizers in Dalmacija, then yes it’s something ‘Italians’ would do.
Hey Colin, who is in first place?
Seems like something Italians would do … Just sayin’
; )
They were throwing flares over there cause they were getting hit by rocks coming from those stands and then hiding behind kids and parents lol Armada putting their own people in trouble.
Looks like Armada were the picke and started throwing rocks first then hiding behind kids and parents lol. Video says it all people. Torcida just reacted to Armada (who started with rocks throwing and flare throwing first). I’m not saying 2 wrongs make a right and that Torcida is correct but they definitely didn’t start it and here’s the article.
http://www.index.hr/sport/clanak/snimke-dokazuju-armada-je-prva-gadjala-torcidu-kamenjem-i-bakljom-nakon-cega-se-sakrila-iza-djece/703632.aspx
I’ve been impressed by Istra this year. They had a few TOUGH losses that could easily have put them in the top five right now had the won. Even after losing a big player like Hrvoje Milic, they’ve seemed to be adjusting well.
and shoutout to our sister team, Istra
nice to see the Istrijani hanging in there for the most part and not in the bottom rung of the league
Normally, I can give props to Torcida, but after this last Jadranski derbi…? Who the fuck throws flares into the family section of Kantrida?
I hope Armada goes to Split after the winter break and burns that dump Poljud down to the ground and beats Hajduk 3-0.
SAMO RIJEKA – KREPAT MA NE MOLAT
Bobby V – Yeah, can’t forget the details, like a stadium. Keep dreaming though.
Cico – Ah, you caught me. You know how hard I try to keep homer glasses off when writing about Hajduk? I’m like one update away from accidentally remaking this site DinamoSoccerReport.com.
@ Rob I – Agreed. Throwing flares into the crowd is idiotic and shouldn’t be celebrated, but what’s even more idiotic is bringing your young son into the supporters section during a game like this. The dogs were not brought into the stands with the families and casual fans, but the were brought into the supporters section where that dad brought his kid (as far as I can tell from the pic).
I had a dream last night that Ihit the lottery, bought Zadar, bought all the best players in the World, and forgot to build a new stadium, so, they all quit.
Have to go back on the medication…..maybe even add some.
So, was it staged or not?
From the picture above, the guy is bringing his son to watch a game of soccer and all of a sudden his protecting his kid from police dogs and thrown flares
Dickheads throwing flares into the crowd is just fucked up
Passion is one thing, being a dumb fuck is another.
Good Job as Allways Dr. Colin , & Thank U for the updates ,But a few Homer oversites ! Zadar kept the (Top -Scoring) Arrogant Mamic/dinamo scoreless ? Wrong ! 3 Teams have More Goals then your gnk . One of them being the Most Loved Team in Croatia – U got it Our Bili – Hajduk !! # 2 , Hajduk scored in the 90+ minute with its (Last Breath) ? Wrong ! Peace Out ! P.S. Armada nice Beating U Guys gave Us Without 2 of Our Best Players- NOT !! 1-1 Baby in your House ! Iggy Rules !! Bog, Hrvati , USA , Champion L.A. Galaxy , Hajduk , i HNS !!!
Hooligans in general are embarrassing.
Gotta love these Torcida hooligans throwing flares at fans trying to watch a game. Shameful and embarrassing.
