Dinamo
Dinamo’s latest match was a 0-0 deadlock in the Eternal Derby held in Poljud. The Croatian champions are having a slow season for their standards, yet they are still in first place and have arguably the strongest roster in the league. A few hot streaks from players like Oršić and Petković (if he can regain his form), and Dinamo may just secure themselves yet another HNL championship. New signing and current most in form player in the league, Petar Bočkaj, has proven a great addition to this squad, as well as breakout star Josip Šutalo, have solidified Dinamo’s defense.
Osijek
Osijek sit in second place with the same number of points as Dinamo, but having played one more game. Osijek needs to stop drawing matches against weaker opponents, where they could be capitalizing on small points that will eventually add up. Osijek now have one of the strongest, if not the strongest, roster they’ve ever fielded, and this may just be their best chance at ever winning the league. The addition of star winger Kristijan Lovrić adds more attacking prowess to this team, however, the loss of Bočkaj is a massive one. If they could have held on to him, they might just have the best team in the league. Osijek loanee Dion Drena Beljo has been balling out this season with Istra, a shame for Osijek, who could probably use a powerful attacker like him to finish games off and avoid all these draws they’ve been getting.
Rijeka
Rijeka, who looked to be entering first place with an easy win against last place Dragovoljac today, absolutely bottled the chance, as they fell by the score of 2 to 1. Funny thing is, Rijeka loaned a ton of their unused players and young talents to Dragovoljac, essentially shooting themselves in the foot here. This could potentially be very very costly for the Armada as every point matters from here on out. The positives is that star goalkeeper Nediljko Labrović has been back to full fitness and looks just as good as he was to start the season, and Robert Murić has proven himself to be one of the most dangerous players in the league. Rijeka play Gorica and Istra next, before they face the Modri on April 9th. Six points is a must from these next two games.
Hajduk
Hajduk currently sit five points out of first place, after having drawn Dinamo at home. Hajduk need to buckle down and grind for every point they can get, because they don’t exactly have an easy schedule remaining. They face Dinamo twice, including on the last matchday of the season, they face Osijek and Rijeka once, as well as a game against Lokomotiva and one against Gorica, who have proven to be great spoilers this season. Recent additions have strengthened Hajduk’s squad, but now they need to find a formation and a solidified eleven. There seems to be a ton of rotation and relative uncertainty in who to play and where to play them. There aren’t many games left, so Dambrauskas needs to find a solution because any mistake from here on out may cost them the season. If Hajduk can play nearly perfect in their remaining ten matches, they might just be lifting the trophy on the final matchday.
Who do you think will be Croatian champions at the end of the season?
Osijek used the proceeds from the sale of Bockaj to get Lovric so they were never going to have both.
So last 8 of champions league
3 Spanish and 3 English teams
I read online that Real doesn’t have to play as hard teams in la liga
Maybe some of the lower teams aren’t as good as bottom end English
But somehow Spanish teams always do well in CL…
Pongračić starting for Dortmund alongside Emre Çan. Does he jump Lovren in the rotation?
Skoric is going to jump lovren;)
Seriously tho I think dalic will hang on to him for too long
If we play 3-5-3
Who are the cbs?
I think Dalic would either do:
Gvardiol-Vida-Lovren
or
Gvardiol-Caleta-Lovren
Ok right here right now
Trade oblak for luka for one tourney
Let’s say both would be in form
Do you take it?
Obviously luka is king
But I say we take oblak. Call up raketa and do what we can with our already above average midfield
Anyways on a serious note, wtf is this drone or rocket news flying into Zagreb???
I just heard, I’m slow on the news
You know that your goalkeeping is bad when you’re willing to trade away a generational player for one, lol
It looks like a drone was launched from the war zone, somehow got its signal jammed while in flight, and lost its way (eventually running out of fuel and landing in Zagreb).
Nobody know who launched it. It’s Russian-made, but they are still used by the Ukrainian army. So it could be either side.
Maybe Russia wants to test NATO’s defense capabilities, and launched it on purpose. Both Romania and Hungary are NATO members are were oblivious to this weaponized drone flying above their airspace for an hour. So, I guess this proves that NATO is a joke.
Maybe Ukraine launched it on purpose as a false-flag tactic, to make it seem like Russia is attacking a NATO member (to force NATO to get involved and fight Russian plane and setting up a no-fly zone in Ukraine).
Or…it was just an accident, and this 50-year old drone is just a piece of junk that malfunctioned and spiraled off into Croatia.
None of the above scenarios are good though. NATO seems incompetent, and the war is filled with unpredictable things that could cause spillover.
we have to ensure a consistent non-discriminatory | everybody has the RIGHT to the HIGHEST in international standards
I hope this is a turning point! | where the lives of innocent civilians are sacrificed in the wars of their masters |
yes in Ukraine BUT NOT ONLY since the last plenary tens of thousands of Afghani citizens have been forced to flee in search of food and safety
No TV coverage No emergency humanitarian response Not even mentioned in this!
What makes their humanitarian crisis so un-important! is its the color of their skin? | Is it that they are not white or European?
That’s the problems that come from a US invasion! to rob their country’s wealth _ all wars are evil and all victims deserve support!
Anyone see these bigtime saves oblak has been making..we’d be world champions and possibly European champions if he was our keeper lol the only former Yugo countryman I’d want – possible Zlatan obviously lol
Vrsaljko’s injured again?!? Too bad…he was just starting to get back in form.
I guess he’s done for the repka for good.
Thigh injury. It’s not his knee.
He should be out about two weeks.
OK, two weeks is not so bad. Hopefully he can re-gain his form.
It’s a coin toss with him.
We have Juranović, so we’re okay on that right side.
I consider Vrsaljko a bonus.
So is Russia league not playing?
If so another reason lovren shouldn’t play
Filip Uremovic quits Rubin
Temporarily though.
FIFA is allowing foreign players in the Russian League to suspend their contracts with Russian clubs until June 30th.
Uremovic’s contract lasts until 2024, so I doubt some notable club will bother signing him for a measly 2.5 months if he has to go back to Rubin Kazan afterward.
If anything, this will probably piss off his current club causing him to lose his starting spot with the team when he gets back. If he goes without a club in these next couple of months, then ends up back at Rubin (on the bench), then he probably loses any shot for the World Cup this December.
This is probably why guys like Lovren, Moro, and Jedvaj didn’t bother doing this.
But things are constantly changing, so maybe this gets extended.
Rijeka really surprised me this year.
Their team is much worse than Dinamo, Hajduk and Osijek’s…yet they keep winning key games against these guys. If not for that strange Dragovoljac loss this weekend, they would be in first.
I don’t know much about their new coach (Goran Tomić) but it seems like we have a potential talent there.
– He coached several years in China and had a good record despite coaching weak teams; Sven-Göran Eriksson poached Tomić to join him as his assistant coach at Shenzhen FC
– He did well in his short spells at Sibenik and Istra (despite their relegation-caliber squads)
– He was Lokomotiva’s coach when they finished second in the league (their best-ever finish)
Seems like this guy just punches above his talent weight when it comes to coaching.
Tomić is only 44 years old, and I’m sure his reputation will grow.
Good to see more and more talented potential coaches for us
It’s just great that Dinamo hasn’t run away with it
This is great for the league, young players to get that feel and chase for something and experience
At the end of the day, I feel Dinamo will show their experience
But you never know
I honestly don’t get it either and I’m a fan of the team. We have a few decent to nice pieces like Muric, Labrovic, Drmic and Smolcic (who’s gone after the season) and outside of them, just a mix of average players. I was really expecting Rijeka to fall down to the 4-5th range this year and be no where competing for the title. Kudos to Tomic for getting so much out of this group.
Best offense and maybe best coach in the league.
