Hajduk Split and Dinamo both came out with victories this weekend, leaving the top end of the table unchanged, but a slip up by Rijeka created a chance for Osijek to maneuver up to third place after taking down a tough Gorica side.
Despite the loss for HNK Gorica, they actually moved up the table, leapfrogging NK Lokomotiva on goal differential. The Lokosi fought for a 1-1 draw against Rijeka on Sunday at Rujevica. Both sides scored goals in quick succession with Franko Andrijašević scoring in the 45 minute and Myrto Uzuni equalizing in the 49th minute.
Dinamo put on a lack luster performance at home to Slaven Belupo and were victorious only thanks to Bruno Petković‘s fifth-minute penalty. Hajduk however, put on a little bit more of a display with a 2-0 win over struggling Varaždin.
Inter Zaprešić recorded a 2-2 draw away to Istra on Friday, which enabled them to surpass Varaždin in the standings. Antonio Ivanšić scored both goals for Istra, but the real excitement came in the 90th minute with Inter desperately trying to equalize from a free kick. With time all but expired, Inter’s goalkeeper Žiga Frelih stepped forward into the crowd and found himself in the right place at the right time and recorded his first professional goal. The 21-year-old from Slovenia spend his short career in the Slovenian first league before making the leap to Zaprešic this season where he has started in 10 matches.
Colina is a Dinamo youth product though to be fair. Just spent one uneventful year at Monaco before coming back to Croatia. In my opinion, Mario Vuskovic is the best from what little I’ve seen and read as mention by others.
TSN in Canada has Euro qualifiers on TV and online, but looks like no Cro fixture. Jebote.
HA! Armada had me for a sec XD
@Anon – Hajduk is playing well under Buric, but yes, I would say their recent success has been boosted a bit by Dinamo’s busy schedule.
As for “can’t miss prospects”, Hajduk has kept them hidden if they have any. A couple of youngsters that stand out to be include a few of their defenders like Josip Juranovic and Ivan Dolcek. There’s also 17 yr old Mario Vuskovic, but he isn’t a regular starter. Have read promising things about him. But number one I’d say is David Colina. Spent some of his youth in France and looks pretty promising for a 19 yr old.
Thanks u14!
@DannyJ not too many can’t miss prospects now that Palaversa plays in Belgium…I guess we could say that Michele Šego and Mario Vusković are up there, maybe Tonio Teklić too. Right now, most of the can’t miss youngsters are at Dinamo.
There’s no way a Hajduk Split u19 side could have the same success as the Dinamo u19s are having in the Youth CL the past few seasons.
OH I FORGOT! Hajduk does have a youngster named Jurica Bajić who plays for the second team. He’s 19, and has scored 7 goals in his 8 appearances in the 2. HNL. Haven’t heard much of him before the last couple of weeks, but he seems at least decent looking at his stats.
Does Hajduk currently have any can’t miss prospects??
Hahaha!
Is this Hajduk that good or benefitting largely from Dinamo juggling their Champions League run?
This guy Colin. Talk about the biggest anti-Croat, Mamic loving, Floridian POS on the site!!!
Thinks he knows everything about the 1. HNL. Piss off and hope your Rowdies get relegated.
Just laughs here! 😉 Trying to keep the drama going from the other thread! Hahahaha
