NK Inter Zaprešić stunned Dinamo Zagreb with an impressive result on Friday.
The two teams drew 2-2, but Dinamo was forced to come back from being two goals down in the first half.
Inter struck early in the game with a long-range brace in the sixth minute scored by Dejan Čabraja.
Ilja Nestrovski was once again in the spotlight of Zaprešić with his 39th minute goal to put his team up by two goals over the Croatian champions. It was Nestorovski’s league-leading eighth goal of the season.
Nestorovski has since been selected to join the Macedonian national team for his first cap in their effort to qualify for the European Championship.
Junior Fernandes cut Dinamo’s deficit in half with a penalty scored in the 45th minute, but it was Armin Hoždić, the Bosnian National Team’s newest member, who scored the tying goal for the Modri in the 49th minute.
The goal was Hoždić’s eighth goal of the season and is tied with Nestorovski in total goals.
Dinamo may have underestimated its opponent, but the teams deservedly split the points.
Hajduk Split easily routed NK Istra 1961 at Poljud 3-0 on Sunday.
All three goals were scored int eh first 30 minutes of the match, but started off rough for the Istrians.
Renato Gojković scored an own goal against his Istrian club in the seventh minute and it was all downhill from there.
Jefferson would go to double the lead for the Bili in the 10th minute and Mijo Caktaš would score a penalty in the 30th minute to give the final 3-0 scoreline.
The match had ended in a Pula defeat, but that was only the beginning for veteran coach, Igor Pamić.
Pamić, who has been the HNL’s longest-tenured coach for a single team was fired Monday morning after leading Pula for four years, six months, and six days.
It has been reported that disagreements and lack of chemistry between him and new American owner Michael Glover led to the sacking of Istra coach.
Glover released a statement on Monday stating:
“Unfortunately, our head coach failed to accept that kind of relationship within the organization. To ensure that NK Istra 1961 continue to grow and be successful, we decided to make changes in the leading positions in the training team. Days like today are difficult, but necessary in order to attain the objectives and to meet the obligations towards the fans. I appreciate the contribution of coach Pamic our organization and wish him all the best for the future.”
Sporting director Robert Rubčić will be manning the helm temporarily while a new coach in hired.
With the Hajduk win, they sit only one point behind Dinamo Zagreb.
HNK Rijeka had no trouble defeating winless NK Zagreb on Sunday evening with a score of 4-1.
Rijeka ended the match with 10 men after Filip Bradarić was sent off after seeing yellow twice, but it made no difference in the score, and Zagreb are still in search of their first victory.
Moises scored Rijeka’s first goal in the third minute, but the team was unable to score a second goal until Odhise Roshi dobled the lead in the 80th minute. From there, Josep Radošević scored in the 83rd minute and Bekim Balaj scored Rijeka’s fourth goal in the 85th minute.
Zagreb’s hopes for a point were dashed, but Gabrijel Boban showed that he still believes in his team and scored the lone consolation goal in the 88th minute.
Rijeka are now only one point behind Hajduk Split while it appears Zagreb is destined to remain in 10th place.
RNK Split registered a 1-0 away win against NK Osijek thanks to a 78th minute goal from Draen Bagarić.
Bagarić bagged his fourth goal of the season to secure his team the win and remain in fourth place on the table.
It was also the first match for Split with new/old head coach Goran Sablić in charge. Sablić started his second stint with the Reds on a high note and continued it on Monday by signing Ukrainian international, Artem Milevskiy.
Milevskiy, or known as Mile Whisky to fans of his former club, Hajduk Split, mutually terminated his contract with Hajduk Split in September.
The striker has had history with discipline and drinking problems, but has found a new home in Split and has joined the Reds as reinforcement to find a chance to compete in Europe.
NK Lokomotiva and Slaven Belupo began the match week with a 1-1 draw on Friday in Zagreb.
Franko Andrijašević scored for the Lokosi in the 64th minute but Musafa Ejupi scored his sixth goal of the season in the 87th minute to steal a point away from Lokomotiva and secure his team’s fourth consecutive draw.
Bonus 2.HNL
NK Zadar’s quest to rejoin Croatia’s top league has been a tough one, but a win on Saturday didn’t hurt them but kept them just above the relegation zone.
The match between Zadar and Hrvatski Dragovoljac ended in a 2-1 victory for Zadar, who finished the match with 10 men after Jure Jurbić was sent off for his second yellow card in only 36 minutes.
Goals scored by Lovre Čirjak and Daniel Šutić were enough to defeat Hrvatski Dragovoljac who also finished the match with 10 men.
Zadar sits in ninth place with 12 points while HNK Šibenik lead the league with 23 points.
“How many people who post here give it their all 100% of the time at work? Do people really give full effort at 4:10 p.m. on a Friday afternoon knowing the weekend is just ahead”
haha.. i give it exactly 30% effort 100% of the time and not an iota more !
http://www.index.hr/sport/clanak/pranjic-razumijem-nezadovoljstvo-navijaca-ali-nikad-nisam-igrao-za-mamica/846958.aspx
its coming out slowly
and just to build off my comments……..Kum Kovac lost the respect of some of the players. Remember, our guys are mental midgets and need to be babied. Once they lost respect for the coach, there was no increased effort to fight for the team. It happens…….Same in the corporate world. If you don’t respect your boss (you can hate your boss, but you can also respect a boss you hate), then the desire to go above and beyond is reduced.
There are, I am not denying that.
I’m just saying that it is not as simple as saying that whoever puts on the jersey will play hard for the repka. When shit goes wrong on the field, the effort may lag. When of the field issues impact a player, his effort may lag.
How many people who post here give it their all 100% of the time at work? Do people really give full effort at 4:10 p.m. on a Friday afternoon knowing the weekend is just ahead or do people really give a full effort at 2:15 pm on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and an extended weekend. Of course not. Same with athletes and national teams.
Well Ziva, there are always players willing to play hard for Hrvatska, I’d rather have those then a buncha prima donnas that don’t provide effort.
And who is this kid from the selo who is willing to bleed the checkers??????
The bosandzero?????? The same kid who took his sweet time in coming down with a final decision about playing for Cro. He was very coy when asked about who he would play for a few years ago, or do we forget that? He kept his options open – as he has the right to do so. But, lets not make it like these guys will bleed for the jersey. They have already proven they wont.
I have no doubt the bosandzero will play hard for the repka, but don’t kid yourself that he and some of our other mental midgets are going to play hard for the national team because they are some sort of patriot and love hrvatska. Some do, but others do so because it can increase their value and visibility for marketing and getting to a bigger club or fatter salary.
Ya know somethin’ Bobby V, ya took the words right outta my mouth!!! ‘Cause I’d rather take a kid from the Selo who’s willing to bleed the checkers, then a buncha prima donnas.
Now I’m really hoping we qualify directly to Euro ’16 in the next 2 matches, and not have to worry about a play-off. And that’s not just to protect my fingernails and sanity. But rather because I wanna see our young guns not get called up. I’d rather have them available against U21 Spain in a top of the table clash on Nov 17th.
Our best prospects vs their best prospects, and Spain being one of top talent producing nations in the game. It’s Two freight trains on a collision course. Let’s see how good is the talent we’ve all been talking about!
dont worry about effort…….with Kum Kovac gone, you will see more of it in the short term.
Good point. I’d take the U-21 squad and keep Subasic, Perisic and Kovacic to play out the rest of the qualifying.
I’ve seen enough of the lack of effort from the other prima donnas.
Well in other news, Croatia-u21 team won 3-0, maintaining their lead at the top of the group for the u-21 euro qualifications.
The team features some of our best midfield prospects in recent years such as Pasalic, Halilovic, Rog, Coric. And they all started! Pasalic scored a goal and set up another So if ya guys wanna see young guns, watch the u21 team.
Come to think of it, with all this freakin’ mess surrounding the senior side, I’m glad Halilovic and Pasalic weren’t brought in. It’s best to keep’em away from this, until the grown-ups sort it out. Kinda like how you don’t bring children to horror movies. 🙂
Dan Neovisnosti – Croatian Independence Day – October 8
The monkey noises don’t help our image. We got some backwards people in Cro.
You could be right Maminjo but I also think I remember something about them making monkey noises….
The thing that sucks about that banana incident, is that it was thrown by some Russian guy attending the Croatia-Italy match.
Of course, THAT part won’t get reported.
And the Mamic apologists
Who are “we,” rather, who are you, that you refer to us as “us!?”
The only people that give Croats a bad name are Servs and Yugoslavs. They were behind even the swastika.
samo naprid
Mamic , mamic , mamic , mamic , mamic , mamic , mamic !! F- him ! Old News ! My Big Head is going to blow up if U guys keep writing about his Arrogant TAX Ass ! Dudes , Our HAJDUK is just 1 point behind His Lying , Cheating , International , (g)nk , Gov team ! Now that is something to talk about !! Party on ! Peace out !! Bog , Hrvati , USA , Champion L.A. Galaxy , HAJDUK , i HNS !!!
“If you dig deeper into Suker”, oh please, like the average soccer fan will do that, the average soccer fan speaks highly of Suker, hell when they think of Croatian soccer that is the first name that comes up, the team of 98
but the problem are these idiots that give us a bad name as pointed out by iggy and slavonac
In other news Septic Bladder has been “suspended” by the FIFA ethics committee for 90 days, really due to sponsor pressure.
100% true Iggy…Croatians haven’t thought about the country’s image, which is why I brought up the banana incident and the flares in Italy…we look like a bunch of intolerant racists…add in the swastika and most people think we are just as bad as Serbia!
Sure, but as you said, no one else knows that.
After the swastika thing i have people writing to me saying what is wrong with you guys??
Now, these friends have never heard of Zdravko Mamic and as far as they know Suker’s a champ.
The ONLY thing they see is an unruly and violent mob and that has come to represent the public image of croatia to the rest of the world because of some shitheads. That is ALL they know.
IF the objective was to draw attention to Mamic, it has been an abject and abysmal failure.
Suker has a good reputation because people only know him from his playing days and scoring goals when he played. Once you dig deeper in Puppet Suker’s life you them discover they type of scumbag he is.
@Iggy
well said, you nailed it
it was a stupid comment above where they used Peru or that our image in sports might be bad becasue of suker or mamic
lol, actually to the non croat, suker has a very good reputation, the problem as you point out is those idiots in italy who stop the game or that incident in split, that is what gets covered in the media, front page, that is what people hear and gives us a bad name
“Kum Kovac wanted them focused on soccer 24/7 when they were together. We wouldn’t allow them to play cards, play their video games and do whatever it is that guys do when on national team duty.”
Well, this explains why we hav ebeen loosing.
Not enough playing of video games
if you don’t let the players play FIFA or Pro Evo how can they excel in the world of football? Ridonkulous.
Btw i recommend Pro Evo this year to the NT, i will let Cacic know it is superior to FIFA this year. Just allow the players to play Pro Evo and that should solve all our issues ! 🙂
“only 10% of the population pays attention to sports. Our image might be bad in sports because of the likes of a Puppet Suker and Mamic, but the average person has no opinion of Croatia either way.
What do you guys think of Peru and their political ideology, plus what is the problem with the soccer federation in Peru? You can’t answer that because you don’t know anything about it. Just like the average person has no clue what is going on in Cro. Our image to the outside world is no better and no worse than other countries near us.
”
That’s PRECISELY why the swastika, riots etc are an issue. It elevates sport into headline news and then people DO VERY MUCH know about us and ALL they know is that, croatia, oh, yeah, that’s where they had a swastika on the ground or that’s that mob that stopped the game in italy.
It’s the only face of croatia non-croats will see in the news and that’s precisely why it’s so bad – you just proved that point with what you said about peru. If peru had some nazi incidents, that is ALL we would know about them, nothing else, so your entire image of them is coloured by those few newsworthy incidents
Mamic’s guys can just plead ignorance when something like this arises, because after all, you have to be an ignorant ovca to represent him.
What sort of discipline do players face for positive doping results? I can’t remember (or care to remember) what past dopers in football were sentenced.
@Doktor Prle
Thank you for posting that rebuttal to Boban.
Needless to say it was very disappointing the interview he gave.
Incredible how we have dummies on this site who rely on jutarnji and index for information. Morons.
I believe Ademi is a Mamic guy as well. Hmmmmm, which does raise the question of who else has doped.
On a related note, Doper Cilic finds nothing wrong in what Doper Ademi did. I heard Doper Ademi is claiming his mom picked up something at the drug store that he believed was OK to use.
Is this how Dinamo managed to beat Arsenal. Mamic striked again.
http://www.jutarnji.hr/kakav-sok-za-dinamo-dragulj–modrih–arijan-ademi-je-pao-na-dopinskom-testu-poslije-utakmice-s-arsenalom-/1433856/
Pravomoćno osuđeni lokalni političari imaju Milanovićevu podršku za obnašanje javnih dužnosti, a Vi usprkos tome prizivate još jedan mandat takvog Premijera i takve politike!?
Marijan Osmak

*is justified.
INDEX isn’t a news portal and their employees, or owner, aren’t journalists. They are social and political activists, as evidenced by their various boycotts.
Thus, the revocation of their credentials are justified, as they should never have been granted in the first place.
As far as Boban’s comments on HDZ are concerned, HDZ is bad – but SDP is faaaar worse. And there’s the rub.
They’d have you believe that HDZ is worse – it is not – SDP is. And they used BOBAN to convey this propaganda to you, and the lot of you have swallowed it hook, line and sinker.
Promjene u prvih 11 , ako ih i bude (više zbog ozljeda), bit će zasad kozmetičke.
@truth…………what have I been wrong about? Don’t confuse a game prediction as being wrong when passing along some info. Now, you may not like me (don’t know how that could be since we have never met) or you don’t like my posts (fair enough), but its not like I make shit up on this site.
truth…to be honest, Ziva is usually pretty factual. the guy has never lied, at least from what I’ve seen from him…everybody can make a mistake but he usually never tells a story he made up himself…he does often say he has sources, who’s to say he doesnt? also, even if he does, it doesn’t mean they are always credible!
@Slavonac
“@slavonac……..it came from a former player on the repka”
come on dude you are smarter than this, dont believe a word from him, he is constantly wrong on his so called “intel”
hahaha….
that was funny Lovro…see what happens when you frustrate people, they go gay!
No cards, video games, gitrlfriends, etc – but swimming together naked in Brazil?
if true, its really quite stupid!
anyone on any team in most sports will tell you that part of the experience is the bullshit time you spend with your team-mates…i could probably write books about some of the funny and crazy shit that happened while travelling with a few of my soccer teams…my Vancouver Croatia team was the absolute fucking craziest and yet, one of the best teams in the Province and even the country (during certain years).
silly guy…he should know that being relaxed and building the team unity has a lot to do with the off field time they all spend together…Croatians aren’t wired like Germans!
@slavonac……..it came from a former player on the repka. Basically Kum Kovac had an old school attitude and that didn’t fly with these guys. This wasn’t the make or break for Kum Kovac with the players, but it was another one of those items that coupled together with other measures my Kum Kovac sure didn’t help with his relationship with the players.
I also laughed at “I’ve got offers from Serie A and Bundesliga” comment.
Give me a break. The dude was equipment manager for Red Bull Salzburg and got tossed. The only offers he gets in those bigger leagues are the same as what he had in Salzburg. No chance he gets a head coaching position.
“Kum Kovac wanted them focused on soccer 24/7 when they were together. We wouldn’t allow them to play cards, play their video games and do whatever it is that guys do when on national team duty.”….
you think this is true?
I can’t comment either way BUT, if this is true he’s really nuts! part of the “building” and “uniting” stage comes from the pizdarija they do when they’re together…nothing wrong with playing cards or backgammon, shooting the shit, doing whatever the hell they want….
where did you get this info Ziva?
@slavonac……internally in Cro, yes. But, nobody outside of Cro cares. Kum Kovac is being hysterical here.
“Hrvatski je nogomet u vrlo teškoj situaciji. Nitko ne može biti sretan”, vrlo kritičan je bio Kovač o svemu te je nastavio: “Nogomet pati, kao i imidž Hrvatske u svijetu. Bilo bi super kada bi suprotstavljene strane sjele i pronašle rješenje.”
Kum Kovac wasn’t saying any of this while he coached.
At the end of the day the players turned their back on Kum Kovac. Stories coming out now how Kum Kovac wanted them focused on soccer 24/7 when they were together. We wouldn’t allow them to play cards, play their video games and do whatever it is that guys do when on national team duty. I don’t think that is possible in today’s world. The team practices maybe 90 minutes to 2-hours each day leading up to a national team game and has so much free time.
Peru has never finished 3rd in the world, nor have they had players at Real Madric, Barcelona, Bayern…they are irrelevant to the sport and although Croatia is also somewhat more relevant, they have produced great players…
also, Croatia has been in the top 5-10 European destinations for several years now…Peru is popular for Machu Pichu…not a whole lot more!
Does anyone really think Kum Kovac has coaching interest from a Bundesliga side or a Serie A side. I’m willing to make a bet that he wont. Maybe a smaller job in a smaller country.
only 10% of the population pays attention to sports.
Index is kind of like Fox News……..People calim they hate, they are sick of it, that the news is twisted……….but,, guess what…….they go to the website and consume it.
Index might be the most viewed news site in Cro. Which means there are plenty of people who agree with their editorial policies and it also means that those who hate Index still go to it.
I disagree with much of their editorial policy, but I still read it because I want to see what they are covering and how they are covering it.
By the way…..that is stupid that the savez revoked their credentials. Those type of decisions are laughed at. You cant remove credentials from a news organization just because you disagree with their comments. Now you get other news organizations siding with Index. This only proves that Puppet Suker is about as bad of a leader as you can have.
most people hate Americans and yet they still visit Disneyland, Hawaii, Pal Springs, New York, Miami, Las Vegas….
hmmmmm…….interesting to hear Kum Kovac say he had offers from Serie A or the Bundesliga sides. Safe to say those teams, if we are to believe his words (and I don’t), didn’t watch him coach the repka at the World Cup.
a pati i imidž Hrvatske u svijetu……………..That might be true, but how can you prove or disprove that statement. Tourism continues to rise, so tough to say the image is bad when people keep coming to visit the country. I think around the world Croatia is perceived to be in the same boat with Serbia and BiH and the rest of the Balkans.
It definitely does all start at the very top.
Hooliganism can be rooted out, England proved it when after the Hillsborough tragedy they made it a mission. I saw it first hand when I attended that famous CO win over England at Wembley. I was worried about potential clashes, but they have security down to a science.
Again though, there is no will in CRO ad no leadership. Only when there are strong, ethical, mission-oriented people running the show will we see change. Same as FIFA.
Don’t hold your breath.
funny news today…index.hr has been boycotting the NT and yet they continue to cover them daily….hilarious!
I do agree with him about the state of soccer in Croatia… and Croatia’s image to the world…which is why I’ve been so much against the fuckers that protest by organizing flares…or the swastika…and the continuous acts of idiots that truly make Croatians look no better than some barbaric Neanderthal! let’s not forget only a few years ago one of our fans threw at banana at Balotelli during the Euro’s….
regardless of if Mamic is the reason or not, we tend to have these types of clowns that paint Croats like idiots….its just getting worse…we now see that the entire country is corrupt, nobody can be trusted in government, change has been for the worse, not for the better!
“Hrvatski je nogomet u vrlo teškoj situaciji. Nitko ne može biti sretan. Nogomet pati, a pati i imidž Hrvatske u svijetu. Bilo bi super kada bi suprotstavljene strane sjele i pronašle rješenje.”
Telling.
from Goal.com …Kovac speaks:
“Trenutačno radim svašta pomalo. A kad gledam cijelu sliku, bile su to dvije uspješne godine na klupi Hrvatske”, rekao je Kovač.
“Hrvatski je nogomet u vrlo teškoj situaciji. Nitko ne može biti sretan. Nogomet pati, a pati i imidž Hrvatske u svijetu. Bilo bi super kada bi suprotstavljene strane sjele i pronašle rješenje.”
“Ljetos sam imao konkretne ponude iz Bundeslige i Serie A, no nije bilo pravo vrijeme da preuzmem neki klub. Sada gledam puno utakmica, posjetio sam kamp Bayerna i dortmundske Borussije, imao sam priliku raspravljati s Kloppom i Guardiolom… ulažem u svoje znanje.”
Halilovic’s time will come, it is not a matter of if but when.
Last time I looked this remains a TEAM game….how many World Cups has Argentina won with arguably the best player in the world on their squad, Lionel Messi? Ditto for Portugal with Ronaldo?
Not sure why you boys are getting your panties in a bunch about Halilovic, he is a 19 year old just getting his feet wet playing regularly in one of the best leagues in the world….once again, his time will come and when it does he will be just one more piece of the puzzle. Whether he is in the squad or not doesn’t take the repka from current mediocrity to Euro Champion….be realistic.
Go back and watch the performances of the players vs. Azerbaijan and Norway.
Them, watch this clip and tell me there is no room for Halilovic,

You guys, like our coaches, are fucked.
Hey, a few minutes in reality, a life time in memory 😉 It’s not a marathon. It’s a sprint.
does anyone have a link to a torrent for the game where norway embarassed us? cheers
Karamarko is a career politician who doesn’t care who he represents (so long as it benefits his career) but Milanović and the SDP have done so much harm.
I get Boban being all typical bitter Croat, but damn, think before you vent your frustrations out in an interview.
That all you need Colin? Kinky bastard
Rendulic will be here in the (Tampa) Bay Area later this month. Would love to get a few minutes with him.
We have all been adopted. I feel so loved. Welcome to our new step-parents.
Mama i Caca reprezentacije: Mamić i Čačić.
Tata kupi mi auto.
For me, it’s not the Mamic bashing. We all know he’s a piece of shit. Hell, I’m not even mad at him bashing HDZ either because they’re criminals as well. For me, it’s him bashing ZDS. He has very close family living here and I can personally vouch that they are nowhere in the same boat as he is…apparently.
And his comments about Milanovic were shocking though I think they were in jest because of how awful the desnica is in Cro. Zvone, odi kod Parage

NHL season starts tomorrow night – my Blackhawks lift the banner against the Rangers.
…and a Croat has made the opening day lineup for the Colorado Avalanche.
Would be cool if you guys could interview him when he comes to play the Kings.
I fully expect us to shit the bed in our next 2 qualifiers.
Hopefully we can regain our focus for the 2 leg playoff.
Wouldn’t be surprised if we fuck that up too though.
So with Suker and Boban ruining their “hero” status what ex-players can we look to?
Where are Boksic and Jarni?
Weren’t they into coaching for a minute?
Were you guys thinking Boban was some big Ustasa apologist? What I am reading hears it almost appears that you guys just found out Santa Claus doesn’t exist. I’m not ripping you, but if you have followed Boban over the years by reading his interviews or watching his comments on tv, none of this really a big surprise. Nothing in his comments defended Mamic, he has always stated that Mamic is an evil in Cro soccer. He is disappointed with the current political scene, especially HDZ. Shit, looks at HDZ. They are so fucked up as a party that the commies are able to keep power because of the ineptitude of HDZ.
ANy link to that Boban interview?
That’s a burn? I remember the third grade. However, I don’t think your first statement is accurate.
@Ante B
I guess it turns out that famous kick in 1990 was Boban defending them because they were DINAMOVCI, and not because they were HRVATI (which is what we all wrongly assumed).
So I guess he’s a lot like you then.
(ooooooh, Shots Fired! Nered! Nered!!!)
100%. I still haven’t recovered from Boban’s interview.
First Boban, now Medveščak…
All the anti-Maminjos on this site must be losing their minds.
What’s next?
Gotovina giving a bratstvo i jedinstvo speech? LOL
I’ve said this before, at least 50 times in the past and was ridiculed but here it goes again…the system in Croatia allows for corruption and unfairness. my own sister has to work in Italy for a month and then she goes back home for a month…my nephew and niece have both worked for companies that don’t pay, my niece’s husband used his own truck and was contracted to help build the highway and was NEVER paid…he ended up getting some material instead of money…
I think the majority of teams in Croatia have issues paying their players, some never recover their money.
so here’s the devil’s advocate part…get paid and sign with the devil, strengthen your future…have a great chance at being sold and making some real money…or…play for a team that most likely won’t pay you much, if anything at all…not sure of the strength of the teams selling power, may get sold and not get anything from it anyways…
I’m not looking for a fight, I’m just asking the question? guys like Kramaric and Kranjcar were most likely going to have careers whether they signed with Mamic or not, we aren’t so sure many others would have…I’m talking about players like Vukojevic, Vida…recently Simunovic (nobody could have predicted his transfer fee that high)…Lovren…even to some extend Modric, he was passed on by Hajduk and then loaned to Zrinjski and Zapresic….
@NYC
LOL…now you’ve opened a whole other can of worms!
Ha ha ha
Funny how last year some on here were saying that the Bears is the way to run a team. Seems only the only sports team in Cro that pays it’s players on time is Dinamo Zagreb.
No, you’re right I’m not surprised in fact I wonder sometimes why it took so long for this to rise to the surface…
Maminjo, they have one guy who spent some time in Canada but by and large mostly Croats as far as I know running the Bears.
Generally speaking, most of the Canadian and American Croatians that I associate with are like me, and would resign their postions before they screwed someone like we see every day over there….that is what I meant by my Canadian sensibilities, which of course were underlined by my hard-working, honest and respected parents.
In Cro, probably not. Can you imagine collective bargaining over there on the sports side. It would make for some good theater.
A players union might have saved a life over there. Remember when that kid from Zadar…..errrrr, Bjezigrad died………a players union would never have allowed games to be played with a concrete wall so close to the field.
a players union might help most teams…not sure if it would change much though?
Remember, Dario Simic tried to organize what basically would have been a players union. Mamic and Puppet Suker made sure that didn’t happen.
@Sude mi
Your Canadian sensibility?
I’m pretty sure that Medveščak is run by Canadian Croats.
Sude Mi, after all the crap we see weekly, does this really surprise you?
I was born into a Croatian family, supported the good fight through the war, rejoiced in being a new nation, understand the history and politics, vacation and spend my hard earned money there in the summers whenever I possible can but retain by Canadian sensibility….sad how so many Cro sports clubs slowly turn me off by their unbelievable lack of respect and not doing the right thing….

I don’t see what’s in it for Glover at Istra either, unless there’s some other asset he’s after. The local council owns the stadium in Pula, so he won’t be able to sell it off so far as I know. Is there anything else he could asset strip from the club?
BTW – that’s excellent to see Sibenik at the top of the 2.NHL. Looking forward to seeing another proper Dalmatian team back in the prva liga next year (I don’t count RNK Split as proper – nobody cares about a club named in honour of communists).
Nobody draws enough through ticket sales. Not even Hajduk. When you take into account the attendance and the extremely low price for tickets (especially season tickets), there is no feasible way to make money via tickets sales. The potential for growth in this area is nonexistent as well, due to low purchasing power of Croats and low populations of the market (especially in a place like Pula).
Yes, the only way to make money is by selling players, but he will have to entice young prospects that Istra is a better option for them than Dinamo, Hajduk, Rijeka and even RNK Split. If they already have a reputation for not paying their players (on top of never having developed or sold a player to a bigger league), then why would any rising young player ever sign with them?
The only option would be to pull a Rijeka and invest in their youth system and develop their own players, which would involve putting down some REAL money. Bad thing is that a nearby competitor (Rijeka) is already doing this.
I just don’t see how Pula can turn a profit without some serious long term financial investment.
Didn’t Stimac coach Zadar for free for most of a season? That’s the only way Istra will be able to get someone like that. Pro Bono, yo.
I wouldn’t trust this Glover guy………when the city of Split asked him for detailed plans on what he would do with hajduk, he didn’t provide any.
only way you make money in the Cro league is by selling players. Istra doesn’t draw enough through ticket sales and sponsorships to cover the costs. Most clubs don’t make a profit, but most clubs are city-owned.
Well, this new owner (Glover) seems to like to communicate to the public what his intentions with the club are, and that is for him to actually live in Cro and run a successful football team. He posted that on the team site and has given interviews.
I find this hard to believe as he is doing this with other people’s money, so he must turn a profit somehow. But I don’t see how they can make money running Istra (both legally or illegally). Maybe he sees something we don’t.
these new owners are clowns.
Well, no, but the new owners take on the debt…and they chose not to pay the players and staff for months.
Just because you have new ownership doesn’t mean the club will have money.
Plus, I don’t see how or why they would hire Strucnjak Stimac.
Man, Strucnjak Stimac is throwing his name everywhere hoping to get a job.
LOL, there are all kinds of articles now saying that Stimac is the new coach at Istra.
Apparently, Pamic said that they haven’t been paid in months, despite the change in ownership. He said this to the media, so no surprise that they canned him.
