NK SLAVEN BELUPO 1 – 6 GNK DINAMO ZAGREB
Dinamo Zagreb but an offensive hurting on hosts, Slaven Belupo, in Koprivnica on Saturday.
Dinamo, who are letting nothing stand in their way on their hunt for their eighth consecutive league championship, scored six goals in their biggest victory of the season over the struggling Slaven.
After a short delay when a dog breached security to greet the players on the field, Dinamo struck for their first goal.
Marcelo Brozović scored in the 14th minute to give Dinamo the lead. Shortly after, Duje Čop stepped up to the penalty spot to score his first of three goals in the match.
Slaven’s Dario Melnjak got one goal back in the 35th minute, but it made little difference as the young defender Jožo Simunović scored five minutes later.
Dinamo’s dominance continued in the second half, where Brozović scored his second of the game in the 52nd minute and Čop scored his second in the 54th minute. Čop capped off his hat trick in the 89th minute, but not before match officials stopped play in the 75th minute due to members of the BBB tossing flares on the field.
Slaven coach Elvis Scoria was very disappointed in his team and himself after the loss.
This was Scoria’s second match leading Slaven this season, and has yet to see victory. In a press conference after Saturday’s match, Scoria says he plans on offering his resignation for Slaven’s managment.
“In a situation where we lost 1:6, it is my moral obligation to offer my resignation to the management board for the members to discuss. I came here to help, I stand behind it, but I think the players have a lot more than what they gave today,” Scoria said. “I’m not saying that I am no longer prepared to lead the team, but I have to offer my resignation.”
The two clubs will meet again on Wednesday in Koprivnica for a meeting of the semi-finalists in the Croatian Cup competition.
NK ISTRA 1961 1 – 1 HNK HAJDUK SPLIT
Anton Maglica scored quickly after the start of the match to put Hajduk in the lead, but a controversial penalty call cost the Bili all three points, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw against Istra.
Hajduk took the lead in the sixth minute after Maglica hit home a ball sent in by Franko Andrijasević, and his team continued to control the match without hesitation, but a close call in the box went against the visitors and set a new tone for the match.
Istra tied the game up just before the half when Tomislav Havojić converted from the penalty spot to make it 1-1.
After the penalty call, Hajduk played a much more nervous match, playing reckless which resulted in the accumulation of six yellow cards.
But Hajduk was not without their chances to take the lead. Mario Pašalić had a chance to score in an empty net in the 60th minute, but failed to score in what looked to be an easy game-winner.
Istra, too, had their chance when Dejan Radonjic missed an empty net at the other side of the field.
In the end, the two teams were forced to split the points amongst each other, which nearly dashed all hopes of Hajduk to catch Dinamo at the top of the table.
HRVATSKI DRAGOVOLJAC 0 – 2 HNK RIJEKA
The Volunteers were unable to replicate their impressive play they showed last week in their 4-0 win in Zadar when playing Rijeka on Friday.
Rijeka flexed their muscles and and routinely took care of business in Zagreb.
Rijeka newcomer and Brazilian, Moises, scored his second goal in a Rijeka jersey in the 15th minute of the game.
Moises parted the defenders as if they were the Red Sea in order to reach a ball that was headed in the box by Andrej Kramarić, who also scored earlier in the match, but was called off due to being ruled off sides.
Moises reached the ball and sloppily headed it into the net for the game’s first official goal.
Only two minutes later, Kramarić struck as well, making the score 2-0, where it would stay for the remainder of the 90.
Dragovoljac had their chances early in the game from the likes of Stipe Balečić-Grgić and Davor Spehar. The Volunteers were also without some offensive power due to the suspension of Jan Doležal.
NK LOKOMOTIVA 1 – 3 NK ZADAR
NK Zadar pulled off one of the more surprising upsets of the season as they traveled to Zagreb to take on Lokomotiva at Maksimir.
Zadar struck very quickly in the game with a goal by Josip Ivančić in the seventh minute. Igor Banović and Josip Tadić rounded out the other two goals in the first half for Zadar, but Ante Budimr got one back at the restart of the match in the 48th minute.

World War II. Some chose to play for NDH, some not. As a result and siding with a particular side, some teams had choices, other teams did not in all aspects.
@Colin
He entertains all of us with his stupidity.
@ Colin
Beats me… I’d like to see a team like Dugopolje make it up and RNK stay in the second division.
Gotta love the Split teams though:
Hajduk – Great former logo
RNK Split – Radnički nogometni klub, nuff said
Dugopolje – originally named “NK Proleter”
Thoughts? Comments? Explanations? Anyone?
Despite him being one of the biggest Hajdukovac I have ever encountered, (sorry Ziva), Cico continues to be entertain me. “Two pizdas in a pod” will forever be my favorite insult.
Let’s keep the HNL shit-talking up, guys!
@Armada – How is it that Dugoplje can afford such a stadium, but can’t purchase some decent players???
@Chupe……..I think that is the reason most of us watch it, to see what the future talent looks like for the repka. Dinamo is clearly the best team, but they have some advantages thanks to Mamic and how he is able to control the savez and even the selection of officials.
A Fly ontop a pile of shit is king aswell!
I gave up on who wins the the prva liga because the liga is iregular so ne interasira me, I only watch for future national team players and sometimes nice football.
Shame that Dugopolje can’t manage to get a decent team together for a promotion run… They have one of the more modern, nicer stadiums in Hrvatska
One for Spajic…
RRRRROOOOODOOOOO!
Real shame that Dragovoljac will be relegated. I was hoping they would of remained. Spajic is a legend.
Most of the clubs are financially mismanaged.
I just like what HD stood for, especially when Spajic was running the club.
Then I see a club like NK Zadar that is still allowed to operate after being negligible for a death on a player on their field.
@ziva – why is it too bad that Dragovoljac are going down, given that they’re probably the most financially mismanaged club in the prva HNL? Yes they stood for some good things when they were first formed, but those days are long gone.
Hajduk finishing the season with the same coach they started it with, sadly, is progress.
Hajduk finishing in second, and actually within 10 points of Dinamo while fielding an U21 team is surprising.
As much as we’ve made fun of them, they’re a lot better than they were a year ago.
Nobody is a bigger fan of jadan i mali hajduk than me, but I can still see them losing the title race by 15-20 points. Right now Dinamo is up 8. If Dinamo beats Hajduk in their two head-to-head matches, we are looking at 14 points.
Still, this has been a much better year for jadan i mali hajduk. I was very skeptical about Tudor, but he has dome well and has done something other coaches were afraid to do, and that is play the young kids. I can stomach losing the title by 10 or more points if it means we are playing the kids. What I couldn’t stomach is losing the title by double digits and sitting the kids so washed up guys above the age of 25 could play.
Too bad Dragovoljac is going to go down and bottom-tier clubs like Zadar who are negligible for deaths on their home field are allowed to stay up.
@armada – the difference for Hajduk is that last year we were, I admit it, a HNL joke – this year at least we’ve got a half-decent coach in Tudor and have raised the standard of our play. We’re not there just yet, but we’re getting there.
This year’s title race will still be closer than it’s been for a few years even with Hajduk’s inconsistent form and some bad refereeing at Istra – and not many people out there (other than us Dalmatinci) would have predicted back in August that Hajduk would be above Rijeka in the league right now.
It was also good to see Zadar beating the Dinamo B team this weekend. I thought Lokomotiva were going to be thrown out of the league because of their Dinamo links?
LOL at Cico, you my friend, are a legend.
Admit it man, Rijeka’s sister team, Istra have your number. Ever since they joined the 1. HNL 4-5 years ago they consistently take points away from you guys. You can rant and rave all you want, but even with a weakened Dinamo who has really no star players, they’re still gonna finish 10+ points clear of Hajduk/Rijeka. Hey man, I don’t like it either but when Rijeka has no titles to speak of and Hajduk hasn’t won a title in almost a decade …. you don’t have a lot of room to run your mouth. I feel bad for you Dalmatinci and the way Hajduk is run but the fact is I don’t see Dinamo losing a title for the next 2-3 years at least and I think if Rijeka sees progess from all their studs who are out on loan (Culina, Datkovic, Sluga) and they come back next year – Hajduk will be fighting it out for 3rd with Loko, Istra, RNK, etc.
No room for dogs in the fortified basement. I am not an animal guy.
Living a “za dom…..spremni” lifestyle is no laughing matter. Honestly, we should require guys on the repka to take an oath to live a “za dom…spremni” lifestyle if they wish to play for the repka.
I know I live the “za dom….spremni” way, the question is do you live a “za dom….spremni” lifestyle. And, if not, why is that so?
@Cico the pizda.
Please stop crying and the excuses, over the years you have every excuse possible, the weather, the players were sick, the refs, the fans, the food, the socks were too tight, jersesys were not made of cotton, list goes on with you like a stara baba. .
Take care and get some psychiatric help. Find yourself a girl it will do you so much good. You need it for your confidence.
@Marko you missed the biggest thing. Will he live a “za dom lifestyle” will he move into Ziva’s fortified basement.
It would be great if CSR could get an interview with the dog who came on to the pitch during the Slaven-Dinamo match. Was he wearing a Hajduk collar or is he a Mamic agent? Does he live a ZDS lifestyle? Should he play for the repka as he looks to be in better shape than Corluka at the moment? Will he switch allegiance to BiH if they call him up instead? So many questions…
If CroatianSports.com had a Hall of Fame, Cico #50,000 would be in on the first ballot.

Good for Hal.
I hope he works out for us and becomes a nice tandem with Kovacic in the future.
@nepoznat – If this was hockey, Halilovic would have had two assists. He sent in the pass that was headed into the box for Simunovic to score. He also set up the play that resulted in the penalty Cop took. Not technically an assist, but he was involved.
bravo Istra, always taking points from Croatia’s most laughed at team – looks like the spots for Europe are most or less locked up
and 2 goals for Moises…. hey, we better start looking at his citizenship papers and see if we can get him on the NT squad by this summer
Bravo Dinamo. Most loved team in Hrvatska.
hvala Colin! how did Alen do?
