For the first time in 21 weeks, NK Osijek finds themselves out of the relegation zone and into eighth place after their 1-0 upset over Inter Zaprešić on Friday. It was Alen Grgić who scored for the Osjičani in the ninth minute to give them the win.
Ilija Nestorvski could not finish the match for Inter after being sent off for kicking Aljosa Vojnović in the chest.
NK Istra found themselves on the wrong side of a 1-0 score line against Rijeka on Saturday at Aldo Drosina and take Osijek’s spot in ninth place. Istra have gone winless in 2016 so far, and have not seen victory since October 17 when they defeated Osijek 2-1. The team that started the first several weeks of the season in first place with Igor Pamić in charge now find themselves struggling to stay afloat in the 1.HNL. Marin Tomasov was responsible for the Rijeka goal that could ultimately send Istra down.
NK Lokomotiva gave Dinamo a run for their money on Sunday after coming back quickly from a two-goal deficit. Endri Cekicic and Ivan Fiolić negated two goals from Marko Pjaca, but Ante Čorić stunned the Lokosi with a 93rd minute goal to take all three points. Lokomotiva fall to fifth place.
It may have taken a controversial penalty, but Hajduk was able to get a 1-0 over NK Zagreb at Poljud Sunday. Tino-Sven Susić beat Dominik Livaković in the 48th minute from the penalty spot after Tonči Mujan was clipped in the penalty box. Hajduk remain in third place, 11 points behind Rijeka.
A lone penalty goal from RNK Split was all the Reds could muster up against Slaven Belupo this weekend. Petar Misic scored in the 69th minute in Koprivnica to take three points away from the Pharmacists and add it to their own modest collection.
Slaven will have to put the match behind them and look forward to a tough meeting with Rijeka this afternoon for the first leg of the Hrvatski Kup semi finals. The match will take place at Rujevica at 1 pm EST.
Dinamo and Hajduk will face each other in their semifinal match on Wednesday at Poljud at 12:30 EST.

Let’s hope Mandzukic can use this to fire himself up when we play Spain – Pep will be watching.
Won….stupid cell phone
iran showed at the last world cup that they are a good team very very difficult to break down…..
On Iran.. didnt Blazevic go coach Iran – was it them? And said if they dont qualify for the WC he’ll kill himself, and then they didnt qualify.
I think that is a thing that happened on planet earth.
pep gets it done again and with lewandowski this time
gotta give pep credit
Mandzukic is out of champions league Mamic must be controlling buffon…I’m not sure who I hate more pep or mourinho! If Mandzukic was fit they would of one lol.
@Lika, Iggy – I’d like to see a little better opponents, but, whenever a new coach takes over, like Iggy said, it’s better to instill some confidence and avoid early criticism.
Israel and then Iran – maybe Cacic is really a secret UN mediator and is trying to bring peace to the Middle East.
Should’ve been 3-0 to Juventus though, fucking Mamic!
Maybe Hajduk should move to the Italian league? Go back to their original name – AC Spalato. That way they don’t have to encounter the boogey man aka DZG.
If Hajduk were placed in Italy, in terms of quality vs other opposition, where would they be a good fit? Serie B? Serie C maybe????????
I knew it….Bayern even without Pep is a great team!
The old Gary Linekar quote applies here……Football is a simple game. Twenty-two men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans always win.
hahahaha….what a shit show! the defender doesn’t have to carry the ball out, all he had to do was clear it and what happens? he got caught and turned over the ball….
Bayern is better, Juve let this slip away!
@Slavonac…….good point. How much is Man City paying Pep. I thought I head on the radio he is going to make over $10 million Euros per season.
Rijeka with an 11 point cushion over Hajduk now.
Is that 4-5 years in a row that Hajduk will finish below Rijeka?
soooo…Juve is up 2-0 at half…from a soccer perspective I know Bayern is the more entertaining team, they play an attacking style….but….from a pure perspective of despise towards Pep Guardiola, I couldn’t be any happier and hope the score doesn’t go the other way, never count out Bayern, they are super dangerous.
I do have to say Juve has done well to score and it really does show the lack of concentration on the Bayern side.
What conspiracy theories?????? Surely, not from me. Maybe other, but not from my end.
@Slavonac
you got to laugh at these all conspiracy theorists on this site,
hajduk gets the call for the 1 – 0 and you dont hear boo here but of course anything with dinamo and mamic and they are jumping up and down
today hajduk loses again, whose fault will it be, this is just comedy, who will they blame
“do the homers ignore Mamic giving a loan to a ref who refereed many dinamo matches”
wow…both deserve to be kicked out of soccer forever, that’s just way too suspicious!
If the game is close, then probably. But, dinamo is years ahead of hajduk, so no ref help will be needed this time.
But, don’t forget, the help is there when needed. One only has to look at recent years. Or do the homers ignore Mamic giving a loan to a ref who refereed many dinamo matches……..or the wire tape Males wore…….or the ref assignments dictated by Mamic.
It’s OK to be fan. Really it is, even for the homers. But, don’t say things are clean in the league when they are not.
The problem for jadan, mali I nemocan haduk is just that…….they are so jadan, mali i nemocan that they can’t even get close enough to dinamo where ultimately the ref ould help out Mamic.
Hajduk vs Dinamo today…lets see if the ref screws over Hajduk in this one?
Israel isn’t too bad.. Hungary – didnt they knock out Norway to make the Euro finals ?
They aren’t TOO weak.. sorta mediocre teams tho, yes..
I guess that’s the HRV strategy, build some confidence in partnerships and such leading into Euro.. see how we go.. i have faith in Mucho Cacic
Bobby v all the friendly games are against weak teams. At least they could of played Romania or bih or something other than Iran and the Jews.
Croatia plays next Wednesday, March 23rd against Israel in Osijek, and then again on March 26th in Budapest against Hungary.
Looks like they will also play Iran sometime before heading to France – no date set yet.
Can’t find a video of it, but if you can, I recommend watching it. It was a close call either way. Went in Hajduk’s favor and that won them the match against NKZ.
of course hajduk got a controversial penalty, those cheaters
