Hajduk vs Lokomotiva (1-2)
Hajduk drop a crucial three points in the title race to an inform Lokomotiva side that has been climbing the HNL table. An early red card against Dino Mikanović saw Hajduk play most of the match a man down. Robert Mudražija would end up being the hero for Lokomotiva, scoring two goals and leading his team to a 2-1 win over Hajduk. This gave the Lokosi a golden opportunity to grab three points and leapfrog Osijek for the 4th place spot. Should Lokomotiva hold onto their 4th place spot, European football would be guaranteed for them regardless of where they finish in the ongoing Croatian Cup. Continental play has not been seen by Lokomotiva since their runners-up finish in 2020 that saw them go into the Champions League Qualifiers. Meanwhile, Hajduk’s best chance to win the title in nearly 19 years is slowly slipping away from them after their defeat on Saturday. This loss lines Hajduk up for an extra important derby clash against Dinamo two weekends from now. With the Eternal Derby holding much more weight than usual, both sides chances at the HNL trophy could hang in the balance of the result in this match. Hajduk’s loss also allows Rijeka to cushion their lead at the top with a four point gap now. On the other hand, Dinamo is only a point behind Hajduk with a game in hand, a win in that rematch game would see Dinamo be within two points of Rijeka’s spot at the top of the HNL.
Dinamo vs Rudeš (3-0)
Dinamo get another easy win against Rudeš in a loosely labelled Zagreb Derby. In nearly all three meetings between these clubs the game have been less than competive, with this weeks matchup being more or less the same. Dinamo cruised to victory with goal contributions from Moreno Živković, Fran Brodić, and Petar Sučić. Petar Sučić grabbed his first goal for Dinamo in his career, this comes off the back of him seeing increasingly more minutes in the Dinamo starting XI. Dinamo’s win puts them in great position for the Eternal Derby that will be played after the International Break. With Dinamo dissapointingly knocked out of European play, the Purgeri can focus all their efforts back into winning the HNL this season. As for Rudeš, nothing promising was show in the match besides their goal keeper, Matej Marković, who recorded nine saves in the match. His performance in net was not enough to stop Dinamo’s routing of Rudeš, but it definitely made the scoreline more favorable then it could have been.
Rijeka vs Slaven (1-0)
Rijeka’s one goal win over Slaven will be enough for Rijeka to extend the gap between the rest of the clubs as they look to secure the title. Rijeka’s lone goal scorer was Niko Galešić, who scored in the 50th minute. That 50th minute goal was enough to give Rijeka a crucial win in the title fight, a win that puts them even closer to getting the HNL trophy at the end of the season. With 3/4 rounds of HNL played Rijeka will face off against Dinamo, Hajduk, and Osijek one more time. Their four point lead will be crucial in the last nine games of the HNL as the title race seemingly will come down to the wire. With Hajduk losing, Rijeka seem to be the club with the biggest advantage going into these final matches. Slaven on the other hand played Rijeka to a low scoring game but failed to create many chances of their own having only two shots on target. With the losses of both Crnac and Hoxha, their two best attacking players this season it has been tough for the Farmaceuti to find goals in close matches like on Saturday with Rijeka.
Osijek vs Varaždin (0-1)
Varaždin’s huge upset win over Osijek could see Osijek dangerously close to not playing European football for the first time since 2016. Lokomotiva’s win over Hajduk sees them take over Osijek’s spot in 4th place and hold a three point advantage over the Bijelo-Plavi. Varaždin found their lone goal early on in the match thanks to a goal from Leon Belcar in the 12th minute. While Osijek statistically were the better side on the night, they could not find a goal to salvage even a point against Varaždin. This puts massive pressure on Zoran Zekić who seemingly is on the verge of being sacked after Osijek’s poor run of form in the past few matches. In their last 8 matches Osijek has managed to only record one win and three draws. Osijek now sits in 5th place, a spot that the club was desperately trying to avoid after last season’s collapse after the winter break. Osijek now has nine matches left until the end of the season to salvage European play or they will see their season end as a complete disaster. Varaždin now see themselves jump up to 7th in the lower midtable pack that has been changing up all throughout the season.
Since these young studs came into the league, 2015–2016, I always wanted to trade Marner and Nylander.
Matthews is sick, if he didn’t have shoulder issues he would be in beast mode all the time.
My solution almost a decade ago was get two power forwards to play on his wings. Let them get the garbage in the corners for him to poach so he doesn’t aggravate that weakness.
The rest of these no show players I wanted gone for a defence that could shut down any team. Reilly being another disaster, the offensive defence-man that can’t score. No threat from the point.
Instead of keeping players like Hyman who would cost so much less and give you so much more we invested in ballerina’s with zero heart.
I loved Tyler Bozak, he had a great two way game. We let him go to St Lois he instantly wins a cup. Instead of keeping the players that don’t float we chase them out of town.
The only bright side to this mess, is the consistency in playoff appearances and winning seasons.
Since Montreal winning the last cup for a Canadian team we have best overall seasonal record and most playoff appearances.
Sadly, the last piece of the puzzle 🧩 is missing.
Go Bad Leafs Go 🤪
Whatever comments made about the Maple Leaf fans are comical. All these years and people still insist they know Leaf fans yet continue on informing through total ignorance.
I call in my Maple Leaf brothers to back me up. We as leafs fans might talk trash to other clubs just like every other fan. We hope to plan the parade route every year just like every other fan.
The reality, when Leaf fans talk amongst ourselves, we are the biggest critics of a lazy team, with no intestinal fortitude who seem to be planning the parade route for the Pride parade as opposed to the Stanley Cup.
Furthermore, we are the greatest fans in all of hockey, just like Red Sox fans or the Cubs, we know the pain of the curse yet still are there to support our team through thick and thin.
Not like all the other fans especially baby’s like Montreal who soon as the Patrick Roy curse started, attendance dropped like a bomb.
Lastly, unless the Maple Leafs organization fully repent for the sins of Harrold Ballard and the ushers during the 1970’s and 80’s child molestation scandal, the curse will continue to go strong.
Martin Kruze, Rest In Peace.
P.S. If you’re curious look that name up. The ushers were giving free tickets to impoverished kids but instead we’re raping them in secret chamber in the gardens. Absolutely sickening and no surprise since the Gardens was on Carlton and Church St (Gay Village of T.O.)
Haha
I’m a Vancouver fan to the death and I’m reminded always as the repka
Close but no cigar
Except instead of celebrating in the streets
We burn our city!
@Dannyj 1994, The Russian Rocket 🚀 Trevor Linden, Jeff Brown, Tim Handsome Hunter lol and Kirk Maclean to name a few. Was amazing times.
Sadly you spoiled our run and probably were robbed by NYR curse.
At least you guys were mad 😡 not like idiot Hab fans who won the year prior and still burnt 🥵 down the city.
P.S. That same year I was dating my first Girlfriend, Pete Mahovlich daughter, I still never got meet him or her uncle and no free tickets lol. Dumped her 7 months later 🤪

I’m a huge leaf fan annd have been my entire life and do not like this current team… Mitch the bitch.. nylander doesn’t go into corners, Tavares is so slow. And none of them have any heart.
I’m surprised that there’s more anger towards a guy who missed a PK than the guy who picked up two quick yellow cards.
Yes, a goal would have made it 1-1, but a tie was no sure thing based on how poorly they played.
The anger is misguided.
The Jersey leaks are correct, officially

Livaja has the most unorthodox methods sometimes, that sometimes don’t bode well.
Livaja needs a stint in the Paraguayan Primera for a season to smarten his ass up.
The more I see of hajduk the more they remind me of Toronto maple leafs
Plus as much as I like hajduk and want them to win
Their fan base is also like the maple leafs
You have you to know what leaf fans are like to really know
I’ll probably get beaten online for this, but it’s got England it’s coming home vibes all over the place along with the mismanagement
There I said it, shoot me
I really want them to get a few championships and do well in European action, but it just doesn’t seem possible
We need hajduk to be who they can be for the sake of Croatian soccer and the repka
Is this really just from all mismanagement or attitudes or what?
LOL .. as a life long maple leaf fan I completely agree. So much talent so little heart.
Embarrassing from Livaja
Mikanović should have been pulled after the first yellow card in the 3rd minute. He was out of control.
Hajduk brought 3 guys in two months ago and none of them played yesterday. One has never played and the other barely plays. It’s a mess.
Another season wasted.
Livaja, is not a penalty shooter, but like goal today. It is not over til it is over but losing 3 points is maddening.
Boris Živković’s kid making his dad proud.
Seems like none of the kids of any of 1996 to 2004 generation amounted to anything.
I’m pretty sure Mikanović is to blame for shoving the ref over Livaja penalty shot.
Livaja, bicycle 🚴 kick was dead and to be honest his penalty shot wasn’t the worst.
If any fan has brains then they should realize the real fool is
Mikanović. He had a yellow, in what world did he think that shoving the ref would make things better.
Total lack of discipline and that one bad decision could cause them the race.
Rijeka has to be in the box seat to win the title after Hajduk’s slip up at home on Saturday to Lokomotiva. Rijeka also has the easiest draw with 9 matches remaining, they will host both Hajduk and Dinamo in coming weeks.
What a fool Livaja is for trying a Panenka from the penalty spot in the second half and having it saved. That was a crucial miss, and he is getting hammered on social media from the irate fans and rightly so.
