Jeremy Taravel, Angelo Henriquez, and Junior Fernandes all scored in Dinamo’s routine 3-0 win over Osijek on Sunday at Maksimir Stadium.
The win further solidified Dinamo’s place at the top after a heated race throughout the season with HNK Rijeka. Dinamo is not four points clear with seven matches left – one of them against Rijeka – which could very well turn into the title fight of the decade.
Osijek began the match with confidence and a style of play that kept up with Dinamo for much of the first half, but it’s Dinamo’s class that shone through. What Osijek was not able to do for a full 45 minutes, Dinamo was.
After a tight and close opening 25 minutes, Dinamo took the reigns and opened the scoring with a goal from Jeremy Taravel in the 36th minute.
Angelo Henriquez doubled the lead in the 65th minute thanks to the hard work from Petar Stojanović and Junior Fernandes to get him the ball.
Fernandes’ hard work further paid off in second-half stoppage time, where he scored the third goal for Dinamo in the 92nd minute.
Dinamo will take only a short moment’s rest Tuesday to ready themselves for the second leg of the Croatian Cup semi finals on Wednesday against Hajduk Split. Dinamo is up 2-0 from the first leg.
The Splitska Derbi ended in a 0-0 draw on Sunday afternoon at Park Mladeži.
The goalkeeper’s duel between Danijel Zagorac and Lovre Kalinić ended in favor of both keeper’s, but the teams had to share the points.
It was RNK Split who showed dominance in the opening frame of the contest, but were unable to beat the well-tested Kalinić.
Tables turned in the second half, where Hajduk controlled the match, but they too were unable to find a way to score.
Hajduk had a prime opportunity in the closing minutes of the match when Jefferson headed a corner kick on frame, but the Panamanian for Split, Edgar Barcenas Joel Herrera, was there to clear the goal line and saved the match for Split.
Hajduk will now prepare themselves for a match against Dinamo for the Croatian Cup semi finals on Wednesday.
HNK Rijeka is probably wondering what they did wrong on Saturday after failing to score against NK Slaven Belupo in Koprivnica.
It was a prime opportunity to keep pace with Dinamo at the top, but was held to a single point when the final whistle blew with the match at 0-0.
Rijeka are now four points behind Dinamo with seven matches to go, one of which against the Modri.
On the other hand, Slaven should be proud of the accomplishments they have achieved this season, and rest comfortably nine points above the relegation zone.
In the mean time, Rijeka will focus on Tuesday’s rematch against Slaven, who will be traveling to Rujevica for the first second of the Croatian Cup semi finals at 11:30 am EST. Rijeka is up 2-1 on aggregate after the first leg.
Only six goals were scored in the 29th match week of the 1.HNL, and Lokomotiva’s Franko Andrijašević scored three of them.
Andrijašević’s goals came in the 56th, 80th, and 85th minutes against NK Istra 1961 to win the match 3-0.
The result did not sit well with the fans who continue to support the sinking ship that is Istra.
Chanting against the Istra administration was heard around the stadium as fans realize that relegation is a distinct possibility.
The Lokosi continue to climb the table, passing RNK Split on the way. Lokomotiva now find themselves in fourth place, eight points behind Hajduk.
Three red cards and no goals; that’s how the match between NK Zagreb and NK Inter Zaprešić ended on Friday at Kranjčevićeva.
Despite the score line, the match turned out to be the most entertaining of the week with chances abound for both sides.
In the end, the missed goals will not be remembered, but the sending off of Inter’s Marko Čosić in the 85th minute will be as well as Zagreb’s Anto Gudejl in the 87th minute for elbowing Matheus Cassini in the face will be.
After much protest, Zagreb’s chairman, Dražen Medić was also issued a red card and sent off.
With the draw, Zagreb broke a four-match losing streak and Inter remain in sixth place.
Ziva
I think it was the other way around.
@Ivica…….hmm, you might be on to something. Lovren did look me up and down a few years back.
@cali
Reason is simple he has no wife and children. Ziva is gay. Plain and simple.
one does not need your bullshit, it is the other way around, you can’t get yourself a croatian wife or any kids, teach yourself the language and maybe you will find one
@poglavnik……of course, of course.
@cali……..one does not need the burden of a wife and child right now to discus the importance of family values.
WTF no wife or children for Ziva and he is preaching on this site about family values and the Croatian language. Gotta laugh.
@Ziva
It better be a proper grb and you need a picture of Pavelic on the wall too.
Otherwise you fail!
back pedal from what???????
bravo Ziva, bravo
now you backpedal, carry on 🙂
@armada……..yes, you must have viewed the advanced dictionary. Only criteria needed to use the advanced dictionary is properly order a round of drinks in Cro. You, my friend (it is OK to say “my friend” via the internet??), have advanced skills.
Nah, no failed business. But, I like how they run with these stories. But, does it count if I have a grb, statue of Mary and a cross hanging downstairs in the fortified basement.
a failed business in Croatia?!
oh! tell us more!
@Ziva drama queen
come on your team hajduk has won a few games , you gotta give them that, you are not going senile are you
by the way is it true no kids, no croatian wife for you and failed business in croatia, ouch now I see why you are the drama queen, improve your Croatian proficiency and just maybe you will find a Croatian girl
@ Ziva
when I went to CroatianDictionary.com and typed in “Hajduk Split” they said a synonym of this term is “bezvrijedan”
is this accurate, Ziva?
Drama queen??????? Come on, you guys can do better than that and you know better than that.
I don’t need to or want to convince anyone. This site is more entertaining when the fan boys and blind homers go overboard. Provides me much more to comment on.
And please note I am not calling everyone a fan boy or a homer. Those who understand valid criticism and analysis are exempt from being called a fan boy or homer or jock sniffer or a jersey chaser. But, some of you?????? man, I don’t know.
I think if your favorite player asked you to suck his dick and it meant Cro would win a big match, some of you guys would drop to your knees right away and become a male version of a slump buster. Heck, I’m convinced some of the Mamic apologists would start sucking and then ask Mamic if they could also swallow his load.
@trov………stop making stuff up. The hajduk homers never did such a thing because jadan, mali I nemocan hajduk never won a few games for them to actually do such a thing. I think if you look up the term “jadan” in the Croatian dictionary (something many of you diaspora hrvati should have access to 24/7), you would find the hajduk logo.
@trov
Seems Ziva throws a hissy fit when he is unable to convince the others. Is is drama queen? Maybe.
haha “ziva the queen”
funny remember a couple of years ago when hadjuk won a few games the homers on this site jumping up and down, sucks to be you all now
More raids at FIFA after the Panama papers.. I wonder if Ziva is one of the named persons on the clientele list of that law firm:? 😉
Rijeka had their chance this year but shit the bed.
Someday soon I hope to see a Hrvatski club (and not Hajduk or even Rijeka for that matter) pull a Leicester City and surprise us all.
Maybe a club like Osijek?
Any fan of Dinamo Zagreb should hope that the rest of the teams in the league improve their level of play and increase their revenue and overall viability for the good of the league.
They should have the intelligence enough not to gloat about winning so many empty titles in a row in a rigged system.
Picture a fantasy football league where there are 10 teams. After the initial draft, 9 teams never have a chance to make changes to their roster or even moves players in and out of their BN (bench position) and into their starting lineup to earn points because the owner of the 10th team, Zdravko Mamic, changes the password to the league and locks everybody else out.
Zdravko ; “Hey, I won” – Yeah, no shit.
There you have the perfect description of the HNL.
Smarten up.
@ maminjo
haha. i think you got it write in describing ziva…drama queen….maybe emphasis on queen
you played competitive sports? what level? matter of fact what sport
you put yourself out there, don’t crumble now
OK. Easy there. Dropping Kovačić from the roster, lol.
You’re such a drama queen
Looks like Kovacic was not on the roster for today’s Real Madrid game. So that is two games in a row now.
I wonder if this continues if Cacic considers dropping him from the Euro roster. I doubt it, but it will be tough to rely on a guy who doesn’t play.
Spoken like true fan boys, which is fine. Just answer me this……..If you would be OK with a grown man like Mamic dressing down your son and then making threats about your own safety, I’m sure you would have a different view. But, fan boys are always going fan boy.
I get it, you are a fan of a certain club and whatever actions committed by that club, you will back up and justify. We see it all the time with fan boys. Uruguay fan boys defended Suarez at the World Cup, Chelsea fans defended Mourinho’s behavior and as soon as he was gone they get on him. Its what fan boys do.
@ZZ……..Me mad?????? Nope. What in my postings would suggest I am mad. I like sports, I use it for entertainment purposes. Why would I get mad over sports? Why would anyone get mad over sports? Shit, even when I lose on my various bets in sports I don’t get mad/
I don’t preach; I only offer unfiltered analysis that is fair and balanced. No fan boyish behavior from me, no jock sniffing, no hero worshipping. Again, just point out where I have said anything that is not accurate when discussing factual items or didn’t offer an opinion without reasoning.
Ziva, you seem to be mad, as pointed out in another thread, no croatian girl for you, no children and you lost money in croatian, damn sucks to be you especially the one who loves to preach. 🙁
bravo Dinamo 4 – 0,
as you say Slavonac neka sad prica, that dude was talking trash all over the media and now gets smoked, bravo dinamo
as for Muric, the garbage he and his father were saying well he got what he deserved as maminjo said zero of 30% is 0
muric should of gone to the ajax academy as a youngster instead of dinamo,
a contract was in place but of course they claimed they did not understand what they were signing, lol
These kids that play for Hajduk deserve some batine walking around the pitch. Has anybody ever told them they’d probably be playing for NK Imotski if Hajduk wasn’t so financially strapped? Footballer egos’ are beyond belief in 2016.
is there a reason muric no longer plays for the u-21 cor national teams? surely he must be good enough for those…or is he black listed?
If I’m playing for a team…let’s say, Vancouver Croatia and our arch rivals are the Italians (Columbus FC or Club Inter)…and I hear that their coach says he has never lost against Vancouver Croatia at our home field…I’d give my life on the field to make sure he eats his words…so would the rest of my team-mates, I guarantee it.
neka sad prica!
See, I don’t think it gives extra motivation. I think it is a great talking point that is used.
For me, if it does give extra motivation, than that team or player wasn’t motivated to begin with. Kovac saying anything didn’t lead to our loss in that match. Now, when a coach or player goes out of their normal character with comments, that is where you can have a problem.
I don’t think a player or a coach talking trash makes one team win or lose any more than they already would have. Now, what it does is open one up to criticism if the result doesn’t go their way or a more vocal response from the opposing side if they do something, like trying to run up the score.
I’m all about the entertainment factor. I think a player or coach talking shit adds entertainment. I would love for Cacic or one of our players to talk shit about Turkey, Czechs or Spain going into our Euro matches because it adds an element of entertainment. Me personally, I wouldn’t do it because my style when playing competitive sports was to shut up and play. But, pros sports are different and it is all about being entertained.
Hell, I watch UFC hoping for blood, injury and even death. Think about it, you would always remember where you were if you watched a dude die in the ring. Its all about the entertainment factor.
I was disappointed to see Kovac prior to the Mexico game, it makes coaches a target for criticism. I think the best policy is to prepare your team and do your best, don’t give any extra motivation to your opponents.
Nobody is denying that Mamic has developed talent at Dinamo. That is not the issue being discussed here.
Muric didn’t back out of any contract. His contract was voided and deemed illegal. What he signed was not legal.
This is where jock sniffing clouds the judgement by some of you. You guys are dinamo fans, which is fine. We have jock sniffers (not all of you, but some) who back europski dinamo and mali, jadan i nemocan hajduk. You abandon reason when discussing the teams you jock sniff for. In any normal situation none of you would approve being harassed and vilified by another man, but because you jock sniff and/or hero worship for your favorite team you overlook the idiocy that takes place by those who run your favorite team.
@slavonac………so what if Buric said that. You aren’t one of these guys who thinks bulletin board material actual wins or loses games, are you? You think Dinamo wouldn’t be up 3-0 if he had not said that. I’ve yet to see a bulletin board quote that won or lost a game. I’ll take a coach and player any time if he wants to talk trash (not saying Burci was talking trash) before or after a game. Why???? It makes it more interesting and entertaining.
I think I read somewhere that Buric mentioned he’s never lost to Dinamo in Maksimir…well, it’s currently 3-0 and in soccer, thats called getting smoked!
should’ve kept his mouth shut!
dinamo up 2- 0
samo naprid, samo naprid
“Best interest of his kid” Ok we see where that got his son.
Two sides to every story. Muric and his father played hard ball and this is what they got. They tried to back out of a contract. The poor role model in all of this is senior Muric. Trying to teach his kid to back out of a contract. On top of that senior Muric makes a threat to Mamic. Karma is a bitch.
Mamic is the man that developed dinamo into a talent producing machine. The academy is world class. As crazy as he is….he has done some things correctly.
All talk????? So, a father watching out for the best interest of his kid is all talk.
Let me ask you this. If you have or will have a son, would you allow another man to insult your kid and threaten him? Muric’s father protected his kid.
He didn’t want his som represented by Mamic and his agency. What is sowrong with that. And when that was told to Mamic, Mamic exploded and threatened the kid with playing playing and them blocking his paperwork. Plus, Mamic said he was going to harm the kid’s dad.
The question if this kid will ever be a player is another topic. But, I question some of you blaming the kid and father for any of this. SO, you would allow your kid to be intimidated. So role models you would be.
@Ziva and Maminjo
Thank you for you information.
@maminjo, this kid and his father have been all talk all along. They need to go back and hide under the rock they came from.
But you are assuming he would have had success at Dinamo. Nothing is given.
I applaud the kid and his parents for not wanting to play ball with Mamic. Some of the shit that Mamic did to this kid and his father in an attempt to make him sign a personal services contract with Mamic’s agency would have put him in jail in a normal country.
Maybe Muric just isn’t good enough. who knows…
@Anonymous
Robert Muric’s camp has been pushing that story for a long time. It all started about two years ago when he first joined Ajax.
They did it to get Muric onto the National Team (probably to raise his value). Problem is, Muric has not done anything in the two years at Ajax, and has played for their junior team since (and not even scoring that regularly for them at all).
He shoulda played ball with Mamic and signed that contract, instead of trying to avoid paying the 30% cut.
30% of zero is zero.
🙂
@Milan
The U21 got a 5,000 Euro fine. No point reduction at all.
The reason why this situation was different than when Dinamo was kicked out of the junior Champions League was that the player that played in this U21 match against Estonia was actually eligible to play. He just simply was not included in the official roster sheet prior to the match.
The reason why Dinamo was eliminated from the junior Champions League was because they actually played a suspended player who was ineligible to play, no matter what.
Any validity to the rumours of the Dutch to offer Muric citizenship to play for them?
Ultimate Jock sniffer…

.
@Milan……..go to any Cro website and read up on it. End of the day, the fine was a minor victory.
Has anyone heard about some fine our junior team received? Does anyone know about it, if so please share the details.
LOL, we have been hearing for years how rijeka has the best coach, the best coefficient points the past few seasons, playing attractive football, blah blah and look what they do, gotta laugh, rijeka always garbage and always will be
@slavonac, come on brother you forgot that Mamic is also blamed for global warming, ISIS, Kim Kardashian, the list goes on 🙂
we know all that Ziva but please don’t tell me he’s not blamed for penalty shots, non calls, phantom calls, throwing games….I’ve been reading comments on here for a few years now.
Nobody blames Mamic if Dinamo win the title. They are hands down the best in the league……People blame Mamic for the safety protectors he puts in place just in case Dinamo needs help. He controlled referee assignments, he bank-rolled a ref. People blame Mamic because he took a municipal entity and made it his own and then stole money from the club and city since the team is owned by the city.
Anybody who puts kuna on Rijeka to win it all should have their head examined.
As long as Rijeka finish above Hajduk (which is almost a guarantee the last 5 or so years) I’m content.
Well… There’s the “shock of the decade” right there. Slavan smashed them. Anybody have any kuna on that game???
Rijeka didn’t lose. They tied Slaven during a league game and then Slaven handed Rijeka their asses today 3-0 and eliminated them from the Kup and Rijeka won the first game 2-1.
this is interesting…Hajduk beat Dinamo and gave Rijeka a chance at catching them, then Rijeka go out and lose in their very next game and make things easier for Dinamo.
for the past several years I’ve read how other teams have been robbed by Dinamo’s one and only villain and yet here we have a team that is in contention for title and they lose to a team that has half their points and in 7th place.
now, everybody knows that the ball is round and usually, at the professional level, its not impossible to get a result. in the case of Dinamo, I find it astonishing that most will blame Mamic for winning the title by cheating…I hope they look back on days like today and see that professionalism means to be consistent and not flop when you gotta win.
only took a week and Rijeka already fucked themselves
that “title fight of the decade” will be a snoozer where Rijeka craps the bed (again) and Dinamo win number 11 in a row.
