Hajduk vs Lokomotiva (1-0)
After back-to-back defeats, Hajduk entered this weekend with one mission: get three points against Lokomotiva. With three top-4 matches coming up, manager Ivan Leko knew nothing short of a win would be acceptable this weekend. While the result may not have been as comfortable as Hajduk would have liked, the job was done in their 1-0 victory over the Lokosi. Kosovan international Emir Sahiti scored the lone goal of the match off a rocket from 22 yards out to earn Hajduk all three points. Lokomotiva did not go down without a fight though, having nine shots themselves. However, Lokomotiva shines more in their pesky defense, having given up only three goals in their last five games. Hajduk remain first on 18 points with both Rijeka and Dinamo breathing down their neck on 16 points each. Hajduk faces the tough challenge of playing all of the top-4 sides back-to-back in the coming month. Dinamo and Rijeka are looking for revenge as Hajduk defeated them both in their first meeting, while Osijek look to get a statement win after a slump in form in their latest game. Should Hajduk win all three games, they could very easily cement themselves as serious title contenders.
Dinamo vs Rudeš (5-1)
Ever since crashing out of the Champions League qualifiers and falling all the way down to Conference League, Dinamo have begun to take care of business. Sunday night was no different for Dinamo as they cruised past fellow Zagreb “rivals” Rudeš. Wanting to take their spot back at the top of the table, Dinamo’s hot streak has seen them go unbeaten and score 16 goals in their last four matches. Dinamo continued their ruthless ways by slashing fives goals past Rudeš. While star-man Bruno Petković’s injury does see him unable to play, Josip Drimić led the line for Dinamo. Drimić recorded a hat trick on the night, aiding in Dinamo’s dismantling of HNL basement club, Rudeš, whose defense could do little to keep last season’s champions at bay. Rudeš now see themselves sit bottom of the league with just one point a quarter of the way through the season. Being five points off safety will surely have alarm bells ringing at the Rudeš camp as their journey in the HNL could be over before season hits November. Next for Dinamo: Hajduk next week. This match will take place at Poljud and is a real chance to show Dinamo is still the team to beat in Croatia.
Osijek vs Varaždin (1-1)
After their back-to-back losses, Osijek fans felt that nothing could possibly get worse for them as they saw themselves slipping further and further down the table. This feeling became even worse as they saw a 1-1 draw with Varaždin at the Opus Arena. It is no secret that Osijek fans are feeling very bitter about recent performances and leadership at the club. After last season’s fiasco, Osijek fan’s assumed that the Opus Arena would usher in a new era and better results compared to seasons past. However, the dust has settled and Osijek see themselves 5th after the first quarter of the season, repeating silly mistakes just like seasons prior. Varaždin must be applauded for their performances as of late, earning a draw from both Osijek and Rijeka; points that will help them make a run at a top-4 finish this season. Osijek fans will feel nothing less than disappointed after a match where their club was dominant the entire match. Varaždin remains unbeaten in their last three games as they face Gorica next in a game between two surprise teams stirring up the pot in the league table this season.
Rijeka vs Slaven Belupo (1-0)
Rijeka see themselves in 2nd place with Dinamo, but creating far less noise in their hopes for a title push against Hajduk. After Marko Pjaca singlehandedly defeated Osijek last week, Rijeka got the job done against Slaven this weekend. Niko Galešić had the only goal of the night as he received a pass from Labrović in his back half and decided to take it upon himself like a juggernaut to pass all of Slaven’s defense in a dominant display. Outside of this goal, most of the match was quiet with only five shots on target between both teams. Rijeka will be fine with the result as they maintain a 4-game winning streak, since their defeat to Dinamo. Slaven Belupo still struggle to find goals to make up for the absence of Ante Crnac, who has proved to be more valuable to Slaven’s campaign than they realized. Their loss on Sunday sees them sit 9th, five points from the drop zone that Rudeš currently holds. Without Crnac to create options or former manager Moniz to encourage the side to attack more, the million dollar question is who can Slaven find goals from?
Gorica vs Istra 1961 (1-0)
Gorica continue to stay in the top-4 conversation after their upset win against Hajduk Split last weekend. While it was Istra who caused the most chaos in the league last season, it seems the Goričani have taken that title from them in 2023/24. Gorica edged out the 1-0 win thanks to a 1st half goal from Valentino Majstorović in the 36′. Istra fans are left dissatisfied as they dominated a match with both possession and chances created but were unable to find the back of the net. While Gorica and Istra both have scored almost an equal number of goals this campaign (8 for Istra and 9 for Gorica), Istra has conceded 18 goals, 13 more than Gorica. Despite having last year’s breakout player Lovro Majkić between the posts, Istra’s defense is lacking both structure and form. On a positive note, Gorica’s backline has been nothing short of impressive this season, conceding only 5 goals in the first quarter of the season. They have only been scored on by Osijek, Hajduk and Slaven this season. Should this form continue, Gorica could be a serious challenger for the top-4, and be the first team since Lokomotiva in 2020 to oust a traditional top-4 Croatian side (Dinamo, Hajduk, Rijeka, Osijek).
As far as Perisic goes the guy is such a competitor
I’m quite sure he will get on some PEDS and run some growth hormone to help the recovery and keep his fitness
How well he recovers who knows but the guy is a machine we all know
He’s not a kid but I think with good doctors
Help from science and his will from God he may just make that come back for euro
Certainly if he comes back and helps us go on a run he will go down as absolute legend status
And ya bradaric. How’s he doing this season
And I don’t know why people would be opposed to having gvardiol on lb if sutalo and erlic are continuing to grow and be solid together
My question is if sosa is playing LW only
Is he good enough there?
Hey Dannyj, to your last question about Sosa playing LW, here’s an opinion from Slavonac from Canada:

I would not play Perisic or even bring him on Euro roster. He is no more a a player. How many players in mid 30s come back and play at same level.
@Ceo
No, we are not God, but we are gods who have the Spirit of God. Read the prophecies you fool.
Psalms 81:6
I have said: You are gods and all of you the sons of the most High.
John 10:31-36
The Jews then took up stones to stone him. Jesus answered them: Many good works I have shewed you from my Father; for which of these works do you stone me? The Jews answered him: For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, maketh thyself God. Jesus answered them: Is it not written in your law: I said you are gods? If he called them gods, to whom the word of God was spoken, and the scripture cannot be broken; Do you say of him whom the Father hath sanctified and sent into the world: Thou blasphemest, because I said, I am the Son of God?
The Jews didn’t believe that Jesus was the Christ, the Son born of a Virgin, the Son given to us, who as the prophet Isaias said, will be called the Mighty God, which is what we Catholics call the Son of God.
Who is Jesus’s (born of a Virgin) Father if not God?

As you all know, it’s a big mess at Ajax right now. A bit concerned about our guys there. Sutalo is a class act and his quality will show over time despite the shaky start. More worried about Sosa… he was pulled at halftime of De Klassieker and is getting criticized for his poor defending, just as he was in Germany. At the moment, Dalic starts Sosa or Barisic at LB depending on who our opponent is but when Barisic starts to decline in 1 to 2 years (turns 31 in November), are we only going to rely on Sosa or what then…
Domagoj Bradarić
Yeah, Bradaric seems like the best alternative to Sosa once Barisic drops off. Is he doing well with Salernitana? I think Dannyj is asking the same question above.
I was wondering about Robert Ljubicic. Is he a legit leftback?
So what happened with brekalo?
I haven’t watched him at all but for a long time he was the next up. A Croat that could actually run at defenders
I still remember him terrorizing the us and Germany at the u16 World Cup
He debuted for croatia and it was very solid. 10 goals/assists in 16 games. Perisic is 66 over 99 games for context and he’s been one of the 5 most effective arguably in Croatian history
And many of these brekalo contributions were tough ones
I feel he should just put on the rainbow arm band and maybe things will turn around for him. All down hill since he embarrassed himself and croatia with that stunt
Truth you have to respect Brekalo standing up for his beliefs …but I’m staring to wonder what you prefer in your briefs 🩲 this isn’t the first time you have harped on his anti LGBTBBQ 🍖 beliefs ??
I think he has the athleticism and drive to recover, but nobody really knows what the outcome will be. I forgot to calculate the amount of time that he’ll be out…so he may not have enough time on the pitch for Hajduk to make a huge impact this season. It would be nice to see Ivan ready as a super-sub for the Euros.
history of athletes at that age coming back from that injury situation and playing at same level is rare. I don’t see how he will be good for Euros
Calling all Hajduk fans…
Bomba s Poljuda: Hajduk dogovorio dolazak Ivana Perišića, evo kada stiže!

If this actually happens, we should have one of the most interesting HNL seasons ever. As a Dinamo fan… I’m really looking forward to this.
most definitely a good thing for Hajduk and the league, as long as they don’t have to pay a transfer fee. the guy tore his ACL and we don’t know how he recovers.
A 34 yr old coming back from a torn ACL to play games on pitches that would never be approved for play in England. He will never be the same player and wont play more than a couple of games at Hajduk. Even if his surgery goes good he wouldnt be ready until July or August.
What makes this win even sweeter is first goal for Dinamo was offsides. I didn’t think we needed help that early as this was Rudes, but that is why I laugh if Hajduk fans think they compete this year. Not only does Dinamo have talent advantage, we have the refs in our pockets. I’m pretty sure we didnt need the help early, but that is life when you dominate this type of league.
Dinamo will walk into Split this weekend and win easy. Hoping to see 3-0 or 4-0 so we can see some violence between Torcida and BBB. My BBB have experience killing people so Torcida need to watch out….haha
https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1706290668887249372?t=5n6ogMrGJXlowwFdCdzisQ&s=19
This is probably a bad career move. Time will tell.
I hope you’re wrong, but I have the same worry. I prefer our young talent to stay a bit longer in the HNL, then take a step forward to a “RB Leipzig” type team, before going to a “big team” where its easy to get lost.
It’s a risky move.
Speaking of young defender talent, I didn’t realize that Dinamo sold 19 year-old Maro Katinic to some random Arabic club (Sharjah FC).
I guess this means that Dinamo doesn’t consider him a serious prospect anymore.
Livaja and Brekalo are back in the squad for October qualifiers.
Livaja is in bad form and does not deserve to be called back. I guess Dalic wants to make peace with Hajduk and Torcida.
I’m not sure what Dalic is thinking? I can accept Livaja, considering he’s been very relevant over the years with Hajduk…although I do agree he’s out of form so Dalic is appeasing Hajduk fans BUT Brekalo? Good God, what the hell is this? Brekalo hasn’t had a good string of games in at least 2 years. He is by far the worst option we have…even though we don’t have many but I’d surely take Vidovic any day…at least he’s playing regular minutes and isn’t a defensive liability while Brekalo does sweet piss all both defensively and offensively!
You can no call up Vidovic after 3 or 4 games. One thing about Dalic and maybe it is a good or bad thing, he is aware of his critics. He knows the criticism for a long time has been that Dinamo pushes their players to the national team even no no deserving of a call up. That has been case with youth teams and not so much with senior team. I think he is aware how media will react and also how his own players will react to player from Germany coming in.
if vidovic is good, he will play good and then get deserved call up.
So, if you “can’t call Vidovic after 2 games…scoring 2 goals and 2 assists” while playing well, but we can call Brekalo after playing in 5 Seria A games and not registering a single assist or goal this season and last season…we have a problem…which is why I said “I’m not sure what Dalic is thinking”?
we aren’t comparing an in form, top quality Brekalo vs a young Vidovic thats on a high…we are comparing a very irrelevant, out of form and poor Brekalo with a kid thats high on confidence.
I don’t care about critics and I don’t know if Dalic does either. He’s called up players for nostalgia/popularity reasons in the past (I didn’t mind that) but this is completely different. Brekalo has been absolutely terrible for the past 2 seasons and he’s also made some peculiar career decisions that haven’t helped him (leaving Wolfsburg, leaving Torino) much. I’m always supportive of our players but I also don’t like to see guys like Brekalo, Vlasic and even Barisic on our National team when they aren’t playing well!
I used to like Brekalo, but he’s gone downhill fast after he arrogantly thought he was above Torino and chose not to stick around (after he had a good 2021/22 with them).
He’s not deserving of a callup, and Dalic is allowing too many outside influences to affect his lineups.
I think Vidovic is a serious prospect and I would not be against calling him up early. Many other top national teams call up 18 and 19 year-olds all the time. If the kid is hot right now and can fill a need, then why not. It’s not like we’re calling him up for a tournament. We are in a comfortable position in qualifying and the risk is low to give a young player some minutes. I would do it.
Also, I don’t think our left side is in such a bad situation that it warrants calling up Brekalo.
Yes we lost Perisic and Orsic, but Ivanusec may actually be available. If not, then we can always switch Krama to that side and have Juranovic start at RW on the opposite side (with Stanisic behind him at RB).
If Dalic is concerned about depth, I would still rather opt for trying out players like Beljo, Musa or Simic ahead of Brekalo. We still have Vlasic too as a guy who can come in late off the bench for some relief (in case of injuries or fatigue).
The Livaja callup is disappointing, but predictable.
Dalic (for sure) is hoping that the situation can resolve itself and that Livaja ends of playing poorly to the point where nobody can fault Dalic (not even Torcida) when he decides to stop calling him up.
I think it’s becoming obvious that Musa is the better choice and Dalic has been giving him minutes.
Dalic is just playing the game where he cannot be blamed if he cuts Livaja from the team. Dalic is willing to slowly phase our Livaja, even though he’s wasting precious minutes for the younger guys to get integrated.
Dalic would probably make a very good politician and should look into that career path after his term is done with us.
I think Dalic is trying to appease Hajduk fans and I’m ok with that. on the flip side, Torcida have already sent another message to the HNS and ZG this past weekend so I really don’t know if anything will ever satisfy them?!
Re Livaja…he’s been much below average lately so it does kinda surprise me he’d get a call-up at this time but I do understand Dalic…he’s gotta satisfy Torcida!
G. Vidovic – played a great game -nice stuff. DINAMO VS RUDES
With 2 very nice assist and striking goal
from the Highlight reel.….. I don’t know why there was literally no mention of him in the article about the game vs RUDES His play looked clean hopefully big potential…
https://www.instagram.com/reel/CxnFXhiL_DY/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
It was a spectacular goal.
They played Rudes.
Doing a first quarter recap of the season so far, he will be mentioned in more detail there.
