NK HRVATSKI DRAGOVOLJAC 1 – 1 GNK DINAMO ZAGREB
Dinamo Zagreb remain undefeated, but were unable to take home all three points on Friday.
The Croatian champions suffered at the hands of Hrvatski Dragovoljac at Kranjčevičeva and drew 1-1 with the first-league newcomers.
Though it was a home game for the Volunteers, the match was played at Kranjčevičeva because the league still finds the Volunteers real home stadium, Stadion NŠC Stjepan Spajić, unfit for first division play.
A very back and forth and evenly fought match was interrupted by the games first goal in the 65th minute. Dinamo’s El Arbi Hillel Soudani scored his third goal of the domestic season to put his team in the lead.
The celebration was short lived though, as the Volunteers struck right back. Jan Doležal scored his first goal of the season only one minute later.
The Volunteers were pleased with earning a point against Dinamo, but still remain win less through five weeks of the season.
Dinamo’s new goalkeeper, 23-year-old Polish international, Grzegorz Sandomierski, made his debut on Friday. Sandomierski has made three appearances for Poland and appears to be the new first choice in goalkeeping for Dinamo.
RNK SPLIT 1 – 3 NK ZADAR
It is only the fifth week of the new HNL season, but this very well could be the upset of the year in Croatian domestic play.
NK Zadar hung on by a thread last season, nearly being relegated from the Prva Liga, only to survive on the final match of the year. RNK Split a spectacular season last year, only losing on their home grounds once, to neighbors Hajduk, the whole season. Their undefeated streak at home extends back to 2011, losing once until this season, where they have dropped two of three home matches.
Zadar started the scoring early when Ivan Šimurina scored in the ninth minute. Split’s Mate Bilić would even the score right before half, but Josip Ivanavić scored the eventual game winner in the 67th minute. Marcel Heister would add some insurance for the visitors in stoppage time at the end of the game.
The three points put Zadar in fifth place on the HNL table.
NK SLAVEN BELUPO 2 – 2 NK ISTRA 1961
Slaven Belupo will have to wait another week for a sixth attempt to get their first win of the season.
Istra traveled to Koprivnicia this weekend in hopes of forgetting the dramatic loss the suffered last week, but were unable to get three points either, as the teams drew 2-2.
The two teams traded early goals when Sandi Križman converted a first-minute penalty to give Istra a short-lived lead and when Peter Brlek tied it up for Slaven in the seventh minute.
Slaven was able to gain the lead in the 64th minute from Henrique da Silva Edson’s goal. As the match ended, it appeared that the home team might get their first win of the season, but an unfortunate own goal from Matej Bagarić tied it for Pula, and the match ended at 2-2.

Here’s an interesting piece on Faletar from 2010, his journey to Villareal and his desire to play for Croatia….sweet.

Thanks for the post Colin, especially your coverage of Dinamo.
I want to add that Halilovic’s move to Tottenham is back on the cards. Especially after Jurcic pulled the lad at Half-Time against Dragovoljac. He didn’t give him a chance to play.
Kruno also keeps moving the lad around to different positions which unsettles him. Besides Mamic and Levy have resumed their shark to shark talks on the transfer.

Also if you missed it, Croatia U-19 tied Azebijzian 1-1. With Filip Faletar scoring from a free-kick. He’s a talented attacking mid playing for Villareal’s youth set up. Look to see this starlet make an impact in the future.
All right, that’s all for tonight. CvA signing off.
Mamic interesting guy

Well done sir! You will always have people that will criticize you. Watch out for the Galaxy fans. Cico has written so many quality comments so he has a right to criticize your “lame” post.
Line of the week:
“Lame Post this Week ( No Offence ) to U Dr. Colin”
Some people really need to read through their comments before they post.

@Colin…………I am using it more and more, but have yet to fully embrace it. Once I do…..watch out.
Has Ziva finally begun to embrace twitter? I got a new follower today. Too bad I forget my password and haven’t been on twitter in a while. You inspired me to re-embrace it.
@Cico – Lame post? Come on buddy, I only work with what I have. There were only three matches to report on, I work weekends, and the HNL.tportal website is pretty much non-existant these days. I’ll update the Rijeka post this evening. Watched most of the game. Good to see other teams put up a fight against Dinamo this early in the season. Taking bets on how long that will last.
Anybody in Los Angeles area know of any good cafes? I’m coming back to America soon and I got used to going to a cafic everyday
Afterall, Split is the African version of Lagos, Nigeria with its drug use.
