After Inter let Kovacic go, there were rumors of another Croatian joining the midfield ranks at Inter. When Inter ended up signing Jovetic, it looked like Perisic would be staying. Luckily, Inter decided to pull the trigger and sign the 26 year old Croatian for 5 years at 14.6 million Euros.
This is an interesting move for Perisic. Since his inclusion, Wolfsburg have consistently improved in rank, and even grabbed 2nd spot in Bundesliga standings. Even though Bayern hold a firm grasp on the number one spot, the Bundesliga has been a league on the rise on almost every level. Crowd support is one of the best in the world, facilities are world class, and most clubs are posting financial gains instead of losses. On top of that, you’re only a car ride away from Oktoberfest.
Inter and Serie A, on the other hand, are the complete opposite. Inter’s last 3 years have been a decade worst. Serie A has turned into a league of scandal and rumor, instead of watchable football. Aside from Juventus, the league hasn’t fielded a Champions League finals team since 2010. The only two positive things I could think of immediately were Italian women and the proximity to Croatia.
Aside from the fanatical negativity Croatians love to have, I will admit I do see a glimmer of hope in all of this. There is an ebb and flow to everything, and Serie A could be on the up and up. Hopefully, Perisic finds himself on the incline of a league that has brought nothing but disappointment for the past 4 years.
What do you think about the trade? Does Perisic thrive at Inter, or is this signing destined to fail at a club who has been an embarrassment of sorts in the past few years?
Major respect to you!
Thank you for being a Vet.
Poglavnik says:
I agree.
I would’ve liked to see him stay on that team or league.
Wolfsburg will be good.
Bas Dost, Luiz Gustavo, Andre Schuler, Draxler, and future World Player of the Year Niklas Bendtner.
They’re off to a good start too.
Peace brate!
Hey Id like to apologize for my rant earlier. I’m on forums for sports, religion and gaming. The amount of trolls that just say stuff to get your blood pressure up drives me insane. To be honest I’m banned on few sites for letting my rage go etc etc.
I’m a ex army/infantry Vet and served 2 tours. I have PTSD which gave me the gift of the mighty RAGE lol. Also being an ex grunt it’s hard for me to have thick skin on the internet. If you insulted someone while serving you needed to be prepared for a Fist full of Knuckles but here people hide behind there computers.
Anyway I was very impressed that you kept your cool and I was wrong for lashing out.
Peace Brate 100%
hope he does well
They also just signed Dante from Bayern Munich and Max Kruse who’s a good player a little earlier in the window.
So de Bruyne and Perisic are out and Draxler, Dante, Kruse, and a nearly 40 million Euro profit in this window is pretty good business for Wolfsburg.
I agree.
I would’ve liked to see him stay on that team or league.
Wolfsburg will be good.
Bas Dost, Luiz Gustavo, Andre Schuler, Draxler, and future World Player of the Year Niklas Bendtner.
They’re off to a good start too.

Sorry Cant reply until the next Transfer Window LOL
I think you got me all wrong. I don’t give a crap about Wolfsburg .My team is Schalke 04. I was only mad about the Perisic transfer because I believe the Bundesliga is best league in the world for Hrvati to develop.
Hopefully the partnership with Broz pays more dividends for the national team or they both sit getting fat on pasta.
Calm down Mr. Football Knowledge.
You came across like the sky was falling because Perisic was sold and I don’t think it was that big of a deal for them. They’ll still be good. They brought in Draxler who can better than either de Bruyne or Perisic.
Looking forward to your next novel of football knowledge..
Poglavnik says:
Perisic is not Ronaldo or Bale.
Wolfsburgs season has not been sabotaged with his sale.
Take the homer-glasses off and have some perspective.
Really my friend I write a novel of Football knowledge and you come back with this stupid one liner’s that you seem to use all the time.
We all come here to add ideas and use constructive criticism when needed but don’t insult my intelligence if you are incapable of writing more then 30 syllables.
That being said, I’ll play your mental midget match. if you read any of my post you’ll remember that I said, it doesn’t make sense to sell Perisic after selling De Bruyne for 75 mill. Why was that even considered. The team made a boat load of cash and then to sell Perisic for 15 mil to inter is absolute joke.
I think you need to change your perspective. I’ll break it down for you in a simple way. When a team wishes to challenge for the league and Champion’s league they will bolster there line up at the beginning of there campaign to insure success. By dismantling a team prior to the transfer window and not spending the money to replace those key assets sends one message to the fan base and players. Defeat.
Most leagues in Europe are won within the first 2-3 months it’s rare for teams to have poor start and make a real comeback and now Wolfsburg will have to wait for the next window to see if operation FOR-SALE worked or not.
Final statement, I did take off my Homer-Glasses and then I passed them off to your Boy-Friend before the transfer window closed.
BOOOOM
Wolfsburg signing Julian Draxler right after selling Perisic – it now makes more sense
Got it.
^ ^
Was referring to Karlovac74 losing it over Perisic’s sale.
Poglavnik
I was referring to Ziva’s comment re de Bruyne and selling high….
Homer glasses? I habve no clue what you are talking about.
Julian Draxler was a very nice signing. He’ll probably be sold for KDB like money in a year or two.
Perisic is not Ronaldo or Bale.
Wolfsburgs season has not been sabotaged with his sale.
Take the homer-glasses off and have some perspective.
You’re right, just like when Man U cashed in on Ronaldo at his peak, and Spurs on Bale it is part of the business at the highest levels of football.
Take the cash, re-invest and start all over again.
Wolfsburg is run by a sbusidiary owned by Volkswagen. I think Volkswagen is on good financial ground.
De Bruyne could have wanted out once all these offers came in. Tough to hold on to a player if he wants out. Wolfsburg knew they were going to sell him and took advantage of the transfer windown closing to get more money from Man City. Good business on their part. Have to feel for the fans of the club. They had realistic expectations to make some noise in the Champions League.
The other way of looking at this is De Bruyne will never have a higher value. The time to sell him was now.
Sincere, thought you might have some insight and curious generally re margins for these clubs. You’re right, you never really know if a big sale is simply to pay accumulated debt or whether it will filter down to the bottom line….needless to say, this club appears pretty well put together and I suspect they will re-invest a good portion of these proceeds most likely in the winter transfer window.
Thanks.
I’m not sure if ? is sincere or sarcastic so I will assume you are being sincere. I have no clue what the percentages are. I am making a general assumption because they sold De Bruyne for 75 mill and the fact that Wolfsburg will make large revenue from being in the Champions League.
Yet I could be very wrong since I haven’t seen there accounting books. Maybe Wolfsburg has been in debt for sometime thus the fire-sale of there top players.
It’s the only logical reason for sabotaging there Budesliga season and champions league debut. A good example, no one ever thought that Glasgow Rangers could go bankrupt and then reinvent themselves as a Scottish 4th division team. Now there in the second division but the damage was already done.
So that being said was Wolfsburg selling there top talent for greed, debt,to bolster there club with new acquisitions or because of total stupidity. I will never know unless Mr Lebo can shed some light.
Croatian player still plying his trade in one of the top leagues in the world…care as you wish.

Why should we still care about Jelavic?
re: the transfer money from Kovacic and CL money
Zdravko Mamic
Davor Suker
#budiponosan
Nikica Jelavic to West Ham…..maybe Bilic can breathe some life into his career!
@Karlovac
Profit margins were through the roof…..do you know what percentage? Curious. Thanks.
I forget to mention one upside, If Broz is getting good minutes this could work out great because there’s no way that he doesn’t use Ivan and thus there partnership should carry over to the National team. Which would be a massive win for all of us.
I made post a while back in regards to the Kovacic transfer where Perisic was also mentioned and this is what I said.
I don’t know how its even being considered that Wolfsburg would part ways with Perisic since he had a goal + assist in there first game.
The rumors swarming around De Bruyne for 75 million from Manchester City is angering the coaching staff as it is because its disrupting the team etc etc.
On that note the first game for VFL Wolfsburg De Bruyne was absolutely invisible. His play was so bad that the coach had switched Ivan 4 times from his preferred position hoping to free up De Bruyne. From what I saw Ivan was able to adjust and be constant threat while Kevin was shadowed and taken out of the equation.
This being all said If Wolfsburg did decide to lose De Bruyne who might have had a bad game then the thought of selling Perisic makes no sense at all. So either this is bad reporting by Cro sports or someone needs there head checked because the potential loss of De Bruyne and Perisic would shatter VFL hopes for first or 3rd place finish.
I also hope this is untrue Ivan’s game has excelled 1000% in Germany. Now he’s a first team player,if he was to go to Italy he might become offensively handicapped and start from the bench like most of the Croatians who are in Serie A right now.
So now I would like to say great reporting job by Matthew Lebo because it obvious that someone needs there head checked. Also thx for noticing that this is my worst Nightmare lol.
Now regarding the decision to sell Perisic, It still makes zero sense. After selling De Bruyne for 75 mill to city there was no need to have sold any other player. Profit margins were through the roof and they could have used some that money to buy another piece to the Wolfsburg puzzle.
So Now Ivan goes to a league were Banana throwing is the highlight of each game. I’m sorry but the best league for any Hrvat to play in would be Germany 1st and a toss up between England and France. La Liga and Seria A main mantra, If your not Spanish or Italian we wont pass or here comes the switch.
@jarac…….that is not uncommon in tennis, especially with players who are from poorer nations. It takes a lot of money to make it to the top in tennis (travel, health, coaching). Some of the bigger nations provide funding to players via the tennis federation and youth system, but not the case for guys/gals from the poorer countries.
Ante, the dumb british guy brought it up acting like his agent was a good guy for “helping” the kid out when he needed the money. Mcenroe called him out saying its bs and now gets a piece of his purse. Said that how golf use to be, he seemed surprised by it. Coric fighting to stay alive
Can anybody here who played professional tennis comment please?
Any one watching borna coric right now on espn. Mcenroe just called out his agent, i think he said his name is lawrence frankopan or something like that cause the other commentator said his agent has invested money into him and mcenroe goes isnt that a conflict of interest. Reminds me of mamic.
@ Super – thanks for clarifying that.
@ Bobby V I think you misunderstood the article.
Mamic said he received 13 mil (not 11 mil as most reports suggested) on kovačic transfer from DINAMO to INTER, he did not get 13 mil for INTER transfer to REAL as you indicaJozo Simunovic (cb) dinamo (21) signs for Celtic up to 8 mil + % future transfer # done deal ted.
I would of preferred he stay in Germany and move transfer to Bayern Munich.
I agree Perisic best Croatian player.
I hope Coric wins too, so Ziva can win his bet.
He wouldn’t play at Real Madrid. He is not going to get minutes ahead of Ronaldo and Bale. Hell, Real Madrid got rid of Di Maria and he is not on his level.
To bad perisic was not recruited to real Madrid . best Croatian player. Hope coric wins his opening match with Nadal in the us open
Serie A will continue to have a tough time getting results (outside of Juve) in Europe, especially competing to sign quality layers and retain them with the new EPL TV money that is about to come into England.
Bravo Mamic samo naprid.
Joveitic scored two goals for Inter over the weekend. Perisic much better suited for them than Kovacic. They don’t develop young talent – historically, Inter signs players slightly past their peak
Mamic said today that Dinamo has played more games in Europe over the last 10 years than anyone. More early qualifying games being the reason.
– also that Section 8 Dinamo received 13 Million Euros on the sale of Kovacic to Real Madrid almost the same as qualifying for the Champions League. – no wonder him and the Puppet are smiling in this article.

I liked Wolfsburg too (it literally translates to Vukovar), but once they got an 80 million offer for De Bruyne, you knew that Perisic would be gone too.
20 million Euro may be a lot of money, but Inter got Perisic at a bargain for that price. Couple this with the fact that they got Jovetic on loan with a 15 million Euro buyout option, and Inter just snagged themselves the two best wingers in Serie A for less money than they sold Kovacic for.
Only drawback is that I would like to see Brozovic play further deep in a pivot role, as that is likely his future position with us. But so long as he continues to start at Inter, is most important.
I reckon Perisic will do well at Inter Milan, I’m disappointed for myself, I loved watching Wolfsburg and was a Wolfsburg fan, now I have to be a Hamburg fan. Where did that defender for Hamburg Heiko Westermann go, he was a crucial player for us.
always liked Ivan’s skill set and the work he’s done for the repka. Curious to see how this move pans out but all the best to Ivan, seems like every team he’s gone to he’s put in good performances/good numbers.
@Karlovac74 – your worst nightmare became a reality
