Luka Modrić, you’ve left us all speechless once again.
Real Madrid’s Champions League magic is back! Los Blancos came back from a two-goal deficit to defeat PSG 3-1 (3-2 aggregate) and earn a spot in the Champions League quarterfinals – and they couldn’t have done it without the late-match heroics of 36 year-old magician Luka Modrić.
In the 76th minute, Modrić carried the ball nearly half the length of the pitch which led to an assist to Karim Benzema to tie the aggregate at 2-2. During that run, Modrić beat five PSG players and megged center-back Presnel Kimpembe in his final pass. About two minutes later, Benzema scored a third for Madrid to take the lead, sending the club through to the next round.
Wednesday night’s match was one of Modrić’s all-time best performances in the Champions League. If it weren’t for Benzema’s hat trick, Modrić would have definitely won “man-of-the-match”.
