Brighton have completed the signing of Luka Vušković from Tottenham for a reported €54 million.
This is a fantastic move for Luka, as he is expected by many to go straight into Brighton’s starting XI. He joins a young and exciting Brighton side that continues to develop some of the best young talent in Europe. He’ll get the chance to play regular Premier League football while also competing in Europe, with Brighton taking part in the UEFA Conference League this season.
The move also makes Vušković the second most expensive Croatian footballer in history. Only Joško Gvardiol’s €90 million transfer from RB Leipzig to Manchester City ranks higher.
A huge step forward in his career, and hopefully one that helps him become a key player for the Vatreni under Slaven Bilić in the future.

Loved everything you said except the Trump comment. I’m almost tempted to think that anyone who constantly rages over him would say this.
Dalic bad formation choice =Trump
Croatia bad at set pieces=Trump
FIFA corruption since 1930=Trump
I’m not a for or against Trump, I believe all politicians are equally on the same team which is against us.

F$%% Argentina, i hope Spain finish messis intl career ,what they did to France was good to watch.
That England game just goes to show how beatable and exposed they are. We were better and had it in us to beat them this year. We were the only team besides Argentina to score more than one goal in open play. That’s twice now England have scored in a World Cup semi final first and then lost. I recall the game in 2018 like it was yesterday. Poor challenge by Modric and again he did it this year. After Englands early goal they were pouring it on in the first half. Easily could’ve been 2-0 on that Kane attempt had it not been for Suba. Once that second half started, we turned on the jets and came in like pit bulls. England sat back and Perisic scored on a beautiful cross in the 76 minute or something. England again cannot hold down the Fort and conceded late twice today . They were gassed and Mandzukic broke those limey hearts. Any player that starts with an M like Mandzo and Martinez haunts them.
Despite an early exit, we faced two top teams from Europe. The Portugal match was the toughest challenge they faced and we fought harder. Spain only got passed them after a paining drying on the wall match with a late substitution.
Let’s put it this way. Look at what we have been up against after 2018.
2021 1-0 lost to England who lost in final against Italy
2022 Faced Morocco twice, Japan and Brazil. Lost to the eventual champions Argentina 3-0. Won 3/4 after beating Morocco for the third place
2024 lost to Spain 3-0 and were heavily exposed. They went on to beat England in the final and get past Germany and France too
2026 lost to England 4-2 and tactical approaches, poor challenges, coverage made us loss to the semi finalists who were so close to a final but blew it again
Now we are playing Spain and England this fall. That will be challenging task and great experience for these young bucks. Spain in my opinion are a better team than Argentina. They haven’t scored as much but only have conceded 1 goal this tournament. Argentina have conceded seven and against weaker teams. Spain is such a well structured, quick and smart side. The coach has won under 19 and 21 euros which explains why they are in a Euro and World Cup final back to back. Us losing to Spain wasn’t a shock last Euros and wasn’t anything to be ashamed of. We played horrible from start to finish that game and tournament. Spain have only conceded 5 goals in 8 knockout stage matches the last two tournaments. That stat alone is freighting. They’ve played Belgium, Portugal, France, England, Germany, and England.
Not to go on a rant or not give us any slack but these are the teams you need to beat to win. I don’t think we are ready for that. Nations league will give us a peak to the next Euros and see how we preform against teams that are always in the semi or finals of major tournaments recently. Bilic has to experiment and be watching. He needs to perhaps shake up the coaching staff. This Spanish coach is something else…2 games lost since his takeover after the Qatar World Cup. I’m speechless.
Croatia have a long way to go and lots to prove and better start the rebuild, retool, reorganization against these guys. Czech is peanuts to these guys.
I’m rooting for Spain. I’m sick of this Argentina team and them getting all the calls. You know the fifa mob trumps boyfriend the president wants them to win. Surprisingly not many penalties awarded to them unlike the last World Cup. Now it’s calls like; Messi not getting a red for stomping on a guys calf, Egypt goal disallowed, etc. They are such scammers and a bunch of dirty discount Italian and Spaniards. Let’s go Spain and never had anything against them. They’ve always played clean and fair. Although they have beaten us twice the last two Euros. I’ll always remember that Euro 2016 2-1 win…
Our opening game against England should have ended 7-2 for England (if not for Liva).
We were the most easily handled team by England.
They had trouble with everyone else except us.
Portugal were also big frauds in this tournament. They were saved by VAR against Colombia, but still couldn’t win) and they couldn’t even beat Congo.
Unfortunately, we came to the tournament very very unprepared and played only one or two good halves of football.
Yes we were screwed by VAR, but we also didn’t make it easy on ourselves with our poor lineup selection and defensive play.
Let’s see how well Bilić can prepare this team for the Nations League, and see if he can fix our first half woes, our set plays, and our end-of-game collapses.
@Maminjo
The injuries we walked in with were terrible timing as well but that’s in Dalic for using terrible tactics.
Once we stopped with three in the back it even made Pong look half decent lol.
Also Dalic not developing the young guns earlier would have helped with any injuries issues going in.
If Vuskovic was playing during the whole qualification process what difference would that have made in overall tactics and selection.
Dalic fiddling with lineups up until are game against Panama was insane. His only saving grace was putting Perisic at LB but his insane resistance for Marco on RW is beyond frustrating.

We didn’t “walk in” to the tournament with injuries that recently occurred.
The injuries to Gvardiol and Kova happened months prior, and we still chose to not call up or test out other options and we also benched healthy stars (Suċić).
I’m glad that the knee-jerk move to suddenly play Perišić at LB (which we never prepared for beforehand) worked out for us, but it’s stuff like this that really shows how little work effort was put into our plan.
Luka Modrić suffered a complex, multi-fragment fracture of the left zygomatic (cheek) bone during a Serie A match on April 26, 2026, and underwent successful surgery the next day.
Gvardiol, broken leg, I’ve broken my leg twice and it was 6 months until full recovery. I understand advanced medicine for athletes but it still doesn’t make him match fit.
Kovacic was also not match fit going into this tournament, hence Dalic needing to develop youth to be ready at every moment.
We agree on poor planning but these injuries were also very significant.
Tactics, formations, not building the well of youth is all on Dalic.
So even if we were up against the Fifa it wouldn’t matter in the long run because we were not properly prepared.

Anonymous post yesterday no Frigan update since March

It’s so so so hard being the GOAT
As Super Slav has stated so often the match fixing is highly selective.
The cognitive dissonance on this site is also unbelievable, you witnessed the whole tournament being rigged up until the Semi Finals so never forget the Truth.
It’s also understandable that FIFA would start reffing games more fairly or be less obvious.
Yet, in this game I did see on few corners where Argentina and England had tackled 3 or 4 players. via the bear hug technique.
At one time 6 players from both teams were dragged to ground but Kovacic the killer was penalized for far less.
So are we so bad at set pieces or are we victims of terrible officiating?
If you know games are against lesser teams then either way you’re damned.
Norway had their 2nd goal taken away but the English players were constantly clutching and holding multiple Norwegians.
So as Halland is being grabbed by Anderson, he pushes him away to get space, Anderson embellishes the fall, no goal. No call on England for holding multiple players on three corners in a row.
CableGate is another disaster but I digress.
As stated a million times smaller countries will never get a fair chance.
My only happiness is if Bilic really develops the youth, plays attacking football instead of this bunker Greek football nonsense then that’s all I can ask for.
If the games are fixed I rather go down like lions and not kittens as England just displayed.
They literally had the game, were outplaying Vargentina but sat on a 1-0 lead and got burnt.
Well at least I don’t have to hear Harry Kanes lisp anymore. This most likely will be his last WC.

Great news everyone !!!
Hey Bilic
Did u just see Pong post an IG story of Messi celebrating his assist with rest of team w caption “Greatest ever.” ???
Imagine being a Croatia NT player and not saying Modric is the greatest ever
It’s almost treasonous if u think about it
Anyways easy reason to drop him for NL squad in September
I’m sure he’ll delete it after realizing he’s a MORON but I’ve screen shot it for u
Why should he do that? Objectively speaking Messi is way better than Modric. Here you are crappping on Pong for stating facts that are not treasonous to any normal Croatian person. Yet when an actual traitor Jug like Kova invites and pays Sasa Matic to sing at his wedding you have nothing to say. Pong is not a traitor you are!
Go tell ur wife Cara Delevingne is the greatest and report back how quickly she files divorce papers
Since when is Cara D even in the conversation?
I hope everyone saw how far behind we are from Spain and Argentina. We have a long way to go before we can be mentioned in the same league. Hopefully we see some light with the youngsters and Bilic! That Portugal game still stings but I think we would not have gotten much further.
You would have said this exact same thing if we lost to Japan in 2022
Second half of the game against Portugal showed the way forward. Midfield being mobile and easily slicing through the pork chops, running at their defence and causing panic. Matanovic was far more more mobile and agile than expected for a front man and if we can integrate young Pasalic, maybe someone who runs at defenders on the left since no more Perisic, and with the potential of the best defence in the world for the next 6-8 years, we can be real contenders. Never favourites but always a dark horse who no one wants to face.
Population:
Argentina: 46 million
Spain:49 million
England: 58 million
France: 69 million
Germany: 83 million
Brazil: 213 million
Italy: 58 million
These are teams that won world Cup. I don’t count Uruguay as they only won in 1930 and 50.
But Fifa demands a population of 45 million and over to win the the turnir.
Spain and Argentina were the best semi finalists. Argentines were gifted magnificently easy draw up until the semis. It will always be scripted to these 7 teams! We will never see a Leicester City or Crvena Zvijezda (91) style team win a world cup. Whether that is Norway, Hrvatska, or anyone else.
Euro has had some lesser powers like Norway and Greece win it and Tier 1b powers like Holland and Portgugal. But we will never see that at the fifa turnir. Its actually boring when it always plays out like this at the World Cup.
U should count uruguay
You aren’t wrong butttt my point is even though they won they are now in Hrvatska’s less than 45 million category and not going to get their 3rd win! Bless them for winning two times almost 80 years ago and 100 years come 2030!!!
Uruguay didn’t really win a World Cup.
Essentially every World Cup prior to the 1970s is illegitimate.
Even if you just read the Wikipedia articles on each World Cup, you’ll laugh at how ridiculous each one was.
Walk thru punta del este and say that
Doesn’t discount what I said.
Uruguay won a small tournament that had no qualifiers and many of the invited teams didn’t bother coming.
A large portion of European teams didn’t bother showing up, and as a result, Uruguay was offended by this and they chose to not show up to the following World Cup held in Italy (that Mussolini fixed anyway as he needed to be looked at favorably during his rise to power).
The next World Cup (held in France) was then boycotted by all the North and South American teams because they thought the next one should be held in the Americas, haha. Only Brazil showed up.
Imagine comparing joke tournaments like this (with these circumstances) to what Croatia achieved in World Cup 2018.
Well, it is Argentina v. Spain.
I’m not too sure about Tuchel’s tactics in the second half after England scored to make it 1-0.
Sitting that deep and inviting that pressure? . . .
I can see doing that at 2-0, but at 1-0?
Does that make sense?
It feels like a coaching miscalculation . . .
German double agent.

Comment of the day! Bravo D!
Sege played 90’ last 2 days
First 45 today – no G or A – and Pompey gave up 2 goals vs 5th tier Aldershot
Second 45 yesterday – no G or A but was on the field for 1 Pompey goal vs also 5th tier Woking
So basically terrible 90 minutes from him
Anonymous did point out the stupid holiday pics he was posting every day w mates and alcohol leading up to the WC

U want to b a party boy ? U best come back and deliver on the field
Concerned about his maturity and thus dedication to actual football
Hope he proves Anonymous wrong
Getting slight Bernard Tomic vibes from him – he needs to dedicate himself 100% if he wants to succeed – so so much competition in his position (they most competitive position with Jaga, Wedding Boy, Chelfli, etc all going for the same)
Great news
PAO didn’t start Jaga
And they were down 3-0 by HT to Rapid Vienna
Ouch ouch ouch
Jaga came on at 62’
Final score 4-0
Start Jaga next time MORONS
I watched Jagusic recently to see if he was being over-hyped. Focus included the entire first half against Ajax, recent Grasshopper highlights.
Notably, in the game against Ajax, Jagusic was facing a good Ajax lineup and good Eredivisie defenders. Not playing against second stringers, nothing like that.
My observations:
1. Jagusic seems to have the ability to see the play develop ahead and thread a good pass through to a forward who is breaking to open space toward the opposing goal.
2. Tough to knock off the ball. Good balance and agility;
3. Wide vision. Sees the play developing around him. Example: though in a shooting position, he nudges the ball over the goalkeeper to his teammate for an easy tap in goal. I don’t know if most players would have even seen that play (let alone be able to make that pass). (This play previously mentioned by Anon in post).
4. An accurate, powerful shot, and a danger to score from a distance.
5. Was one of PAO’s best players.
I didn’t see any glaring or obvious weaknesses in Jagusic.
How he projects, and whether he will be an impact player for the NT one day, I guess it is tough to say. It seems the potential is there.
Glad to read that so many of you are saying the truth about Dalic now. He wasn’t up for WC 2026 and should have been gone before the event.
We’ll see how it goes.
If we miss the Euros, then we’ll all come back on here claiming we know Bilić should have never been hired. 😜
Is it Dalic’s fault the players didn’t want to defend corners properly ?
A lot of blame is from lack of desire and dedication from players esp as relates to corners and crosses
Come on, it’s ridiculous to say that the players “didn’t want” to defend corners properly.
Dalic can’t hang out on the field and stick his finger up their ass to make them jump when the corner/cross comes
People think managers are playing FIFA on the computer – at the end of the day the players have to take responsibly on the field – like Vlasic did with helping Stani go 2 v 1 for Laeo in H1 and shutting him down (and Bati not doing to same with Neto on the other side)
Still need to watch the 2nd half
Stjepan V’s eye test never wrong: SN reporting that Bilic is considering a dedicated set piece coach.
Stjepan V is also looking forward to Anonymous 2nd half Portugal breakdown.
This Spanish team to me is absolutely crazy. When your defender scores a goal like a striker that tells you how good they are. Everywhere you look in that squad is a phenomenal player, even coming off the bench. At one point they were substituting Pedri in, and I am just sitting there thinking, the list of players goes on.
All this talk about our terrible set piece defending misses the point I think. Coaches have very little to do other than demanding some very basic fundamental defense strategies. Set pieces are by nature very hectic and somewhat unpredictable and chaotic. This isn’t a Playstation or Xbox video game that allows the coaching staff to move the defenders around. The best way to defend is to have the most talented players on the pitch. What excites me the most about Bilic is that he has already expressly stated that talent will be the most important factor he relies on when selecting his squad. He also claims that he has big ambitions and expects big results, no losers mentality like “let’s just get out of the group and then we’ll see what can happen”. I could be wrong, but I’ve never read something from a top contender saying anything like that.
True. It was nice to hear him say that a medal is expected of him.
I wouldn’t have expected him to say that, especially since it’s so easy to just say that you’re trying to take Croatia through this transition.
He also said he doesn’t understand what people mean by transition (he understands of course but deliberately being disingenuous)
The best players are the ones who will play he says
It’s smart psychology as takes air / pressure out of topic and on young players (who he WILL be playing) and if ur on the field it’s bc ur good enough and ur expected to win
I respectfully disagree in that I think coaching does have a large role in taking set pieces and defending them. This has been a huge achilles heel of ours for a while.
Remember when we took a large percentage of our corners short. This seems like it was a coaching decision. The way we defend them and position our players has coaching influence as well.
Slaven was asked about bringing on a set piece coach and it sounds like it’s something he would consider and cited Arsenal as an example of a team that has had huge success with it. All the big clubs do it and from what I understand, similarly ranked National teams look for edges in these areas as well.
In games where every single goal is so important, this seems like a low investment for what we can get out of it. We’re saving money on Bilic salary compared to Dalić, use some of that money here.
Now that fifa has the top 4 teams left, they’ll let the games be played with no influence
Spain France was the least referee/var heavy game of the knockouts yesterday
Spain shows the blue print for Croatia which is one i always advocate for.
Compact, possession based play that takes the air out of the ball.
Spain has much better wingers but this hasn’t been the tournament of yamal but instead a disciplined Spain side that has only conceded one goal
This is a more realistic path for Croatia to follow given their development system and personnel than trying to play Wide open attacking
I’m rooting for Argentina to win against England . When England won in 1966 they were very lucky especially against Portugal and Argentina. Against Argentina officiating was bad an Argentin played was given a red card for questioning the refs call because ref dident speak Spanish this might be the begining for fifa meddling and doctoring the end result of the game while the world wathched. The Argentine player dident leave the pitch for 10 minuts or so untill police escorted him of he then sat in the stands on the red carpet leading to the royal family. Fifa introduced the yellow card for the 1970 cup so this dident happen again. Eusebio never excepted that the England game against Portugal was officiated fairy. . The best team England ever had was in 1970 but lost to Brazil early in the tournament. Don’t get me wrong I like the English they have the best futball leagues in the world from the EPL and down to 3rd and 4th divisions. No other country could afford to have such proper facilities as they do. I dont like the style they play and after not wining since 1966 are so erigent dont want to see just how much more erigent they could be.
Argentina hasn’t been completely convincing so far in this tournament, but maybe they will rise to the occasion against England.
As for 1966, all interesting points you make, and England was indeed very lucky.
Adding to what you say, there is no clear evidence that England’s 3rd goal (scored in extra time) in the finals against Germany even actually crossed the goal line. I think that goal, the big goal in extra time that gave England the lead, and likely gave them the 1966 World Cup, is still very much disputed. It was being played at Wembley, which didn’t hurt England either.
In his latest interview Bilic indicated that Vedran Corluka won’t be part of his coaching staff.
Good news as one has to assume that Corluka being a former defender was responsible for most of our defensive drills at training. We have all seen how bad we are at defending set pieces in particular, so it is time to find someone else who will hopefully do a better job.
Bilic is also trying to convince Modric to stay on for another year, not sure if I agree with this. Imo it is time to move on from Modric, and I hope he retires from international football.
Ideally Modrić would provide a spark off the bench, similar to the role he had at Real Madrid in guys final year with them.
But if it’s another situation where Modrić is completely relied upon for everything for a full 90 minutes, then it’s better we move on.
Either he knows Modric is retiring and doesn’t wanted anyone to think it’s bc of him
Or he wants Modric but he’s mentioned he wants to present his “plan for him” to Modric – that can ONLY mean less minutes and/or off the bench (which Modric might say no to)
Time will tell but Bilic is the BEST psychologist I’ve ever seen (or one of the best) and every statement has meaning and based on him thinking several steps ahead
Basically he’s alleviating himself of any Modric responsibility so he doesn’t get blow-backed
Also means we won’t be able to take everything out of his mouth literally – he’s strategic and smart and will play the media like a Fidel for his own purpose
Lucky u have Anonymous to distill and analyze it for you 😉
Still annoys me that we decided to bench a perfectly healthy 54 million CB for some scrubs.
Dalic really should’ve just stepped down after the Euros.
We’ll never know what could’ve been but I really struggle to see Vuskovic getting beaten in the air by Ramos.
Statistically speaking Pongracic has a terrible aerial dual success rate but I don’t think many realise that beacuse he’s 190 cm. Not that height matters in that regard if it can’t actually be leveraged.
If I was Pongracic, I’d be doing some research into plyometrics and contemporary exercise science to add a few inches to my vertical. He does make progressive runs and offers forward passing, which I appreciate but his ability to read the flight of a ball is downright shocking at times.
He doesn’t do anything with his forward runs.
Vušković actually scores goals and creates for others when given the space. Pong does not.
This is why Portugal left him wide open and let him run around with the ball. It was never going to matter.
I’m glad Bilić at least seems to see it this way and already made comments about Vušković playing a big part moving forward.
This is the most important and much-neeed change (along with Gvardiol playing CB) that Bilić can make right now.
We had a lot of defensive issues in this tournament.
I think the biggest issue, and strange assertion by Dalić, was that he didn’t see Vusković playing a back four. To me that made little sense. You don’t have to understand soccer in order to understand that playing a back three requires more work for the defenders and is much harder for any defender to play that formation. You have to have a really reliable defense along with really reliable wing backs in order to make that kind of formation work. To do that with a younger defender made no sense to me and left him out to dry in my opinion. It wasn’t the right call. Had Dalić actually given Vusković a chance in a back four formation I think that things may have been different in some respect.
Look I’ll give Dalić kudos for trying to develop a more attacking minded game but a back three in the first match against England was not the right choice.
The other problem we had in this World Cup was the form of different players at different times in this tournament. Kovačić and Gvardiol were really off in those first few matches we had. Some of our other key players were not playing well either.
We will have to see if these younger players can start to gel better during the Nations League and we may have a better sense of what we can expect once the Euro comes around.
I am excited to see what kind of energy and change Bilić will bring this second time around with squad.
The other problem with back three is it kept Stanišić in a more attacking position/role. He is very capable of playing more attacking minded football no doubt and proved as much in this World Cup campaign. However, we really needed him more in a defensive role, it was very necessary to have him at the back for that extra coverage in a back four because of the issues with form that many players were having.
The unfortunate part is that Dalić couldn’t have predicted this sooner in the tournament. It could have helped our path a bit more in this World Cups campaign. That said he tried to make the changes after that first game, but I still don’t understand why Vuskovic was left out of the lineup.
It made even less sense that he chose to push Kovacic (who was still working his way into form) into the starting eleven against Panama, and took out our best and most in-form midfielder in Petar Sucic to do it.
Much like Euro2024, Dalic was extremely unprepared going into this tournament and it was definitely time for a coaching change.
The Argentinians have not been particularly nice to us, so I’m going to have the root for England.
lol. Don’t you dare 😂
Well now that FIFA is under the microscope and got its top four semi final, maybe the match fixing might stop or will the Hand of Frauds devour England.
I actually want that match to be fully fixed. I’ve been praying for years to expose FIFA for all the corruption and it would drive the English Bonkers.
Harry Kane’s constant crying while England flops about will be another blow to the FA.
