This past summer, it was all talk of the possibility of Tottenham and Croatia superstar Ivan Perišić joining Hajduk Split. Now it seems a different deal has between arranged between Hajduk and Tottenham. Luka Vušković, a 16 year-old talent in the making, looks to finally be heading out the door to North London-based Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs beat out the likes of Manchester City, PSG, Liverpool, and Chelsea with a bid rumored to be worth $15 million. Vušković turned down all other offers and seemingly desires the move to Tottenham according to transfer market specialist, Fabrizio Romano. While Hajduk may lose their most promising starlet in Vušković, the 15 million sum would surely be a game changer for the club. While on the surface this may seem like a simple transfer, what really is in store for both sides?
Although not finalized, it is all but assumed the transfer will be completed in the coming days. However, the question on everyone’s mind is what is next for Vušković? According to English laws, Vušković cannot play in England until he is 18, as their laws prohibit foreigners under 18 who are not from the British Isles from playing. Due to this restriction, most speculate Vušković could in fact stay in Croatia and play for Hajduk on loan until he turns 18. With this complication, if Vušković stays at Hajduk, they are free to spend the cash they received from him while still utilizing him until he turns 18. Another option for Spurs would simply be to loan him to another team outside of Hajduk. While the prior is less likely, one thing for certain is that one of Croatia’s premier youngsters is heading out the door to yet another major club. Regardless of where Vušković goes, our youngsters are dominating the European market and expanding the exposure of not only Croatia but the HNL and our youth development system as a whole.
TEST TEST
Yeah. I just feel very fortunate that Dave, a certified Anthropologist is in our midst.
LOL, if Mandzukic was shorter, and Perisic had no arms, we might have won the world cup in 2018.
I would think you would need a variety of physiques to have a successful team. Seems like Messi’s short legs provide an advantage to be able to make quick moves, but you need tall people too, especially for the cross pieces.
Let’s face it though, you have to be quick and extremely coordinated to matter what body type!
Greece’s Road to Championship:
÷ Portugal
÷ Spain (tiebreak GOALS SCORED – 4 to 2)
÷ France (reigning Champions)
÷ Czech Republic (most dangerous team in tourny at that point)
÷ Portugal (…again)
Can’t say the same for some of these other EURO Champions getting to play the mighty Icelands, Wales, Austrias in new watered down formats.
1000% deserved.
Not sure why you’re bringing this up, but it’s a perfect example of how anything can happen in sports.
That tournament win is the biggest outlier in sports history.
Greece qualified for only 3 (out of 18) World Cups and 4 (out of 16) Euros, with a grand total of 7 wins across all those tournaments.
They just happened to get 4 of those wins, in one tournament, at the right moment in time.
Good for them, but it’s a strange experience to be a tournament winner, but never be good before or after that tournament.
If you’ve ever spoken to Greeks about it, it’s painful. Any Greeks under 30 were too young to really experience it. Anyone over that age, are completely frustrated.
It’s not the same as Croatia’s fall in basketball (as an example), because we (as a people) are not as invested in basketball as football. Most countries aren’t (even the ones good at basketball).
Greeks are very invested in football, and considering Greece’s decent population size, football league, and overall investment in football…they are one of the worst footballing nations in history.
This would be on par with us never qualifying for another World Cup since France ’98 and ending up like what Bulgaria is today.
We’d be miserable and broken too, and our kids would probably have far less pride in Croatia as well.
This site definitely wouldn’t exist, and we’d probably all be acting like the Serbs do (living in Dreamland talking about how good a Yugoslavian team would be, ha ha).
Gotta play him up top.
Be another Koller, Crouch, Žigić, Kalajdžić, etc.
I enjoyed all the corner kicks we took Monday (we scored off one).
We also have Šutalo and Gvardiol who have been making some amazing longball passes.
Get more of these tall mofos up there.
The internet said he’s 6’4”. thankfully not 6’5” yet.. but the 6’4” may be outdated. Growth models predict a 6’4” 16 year old to be 6’6” to 6’7” on average. Once again, this is a great height for a small forward, maybe a handball player, a tight end perhaps…. a high level soccer player? nope
Truth,
Orthodontists use bone age testing to determine how much a teenager is likely to grow (if at all), because the charts aren’t accurate enough.
Furthermore, if the internet says 6’4″ than why not go with that- he could also be 6′ 3-1/2″ rounded up to 6′ 4″?
Lastly, there are advantages and disadvantages to having height, so if he’s a world class potential talent, he is there regardless if his size.
1.93 meters. That translates to 6.33 ft. He”ll probably end up being just below 6 foot 5 inches. Ibrahimovic is 6 foot 4. Van Dijk is 6 foot 4. Vuskovic will be fine.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again
I hope I’m wrong but i rarely am
Vuskovic is too tall for soccer
At 16 and already 6’5’’, he could easily grow to 6’7’’
There just aren’t great soccer players that tall so maybe vuskovic could be a serviceable, gimmicky huge player like a boban marjanovic in hoops
But a star at 6’7’’ in soccer?…forget about it
If anyone has evidence of previous 6’7’’ star soccer players, I’d love to see it
TT2,
How do you know that his bone age isn’t leading his actual birth age, and that he hasn’t reached his full height already?
Also, how do you know that he still doesn’t become a world class player at 6′ 7″ if he gets there?
Totemham is betting 15 million euros on him, so they must see something special?
Your understanding of football is pretty atrocious…
First of all he is 6 3″, and probability of growing up further is pretty small.
Second just out of my head i can remember numerous defenders and players in general much taller than him that made great careers, so your babbling without argumentation is pretty much senseless.
Jan Koller
15 million?
Hajduk should just take it haha
Good deal for Hajduk if they can get 10 million for the 16 year old kid. Not sure that Vuskovic is good enough yet to play regularly for Hajduk as a central defender. Last year he made some costly mistakes while playing for the first team.
Our U21 side won 4 – 2 away to Faros’s. Simic, Hodza, Beljo and Ljubicic were our goal scores. Roko Simic and Hodza with stunning strikes.
Loved the Šimić goal- it was a highly skilled, well placed, one time redirect / shot out of the air.
Yes, it was a great goal by Roko. I thought that he played better then Beljo and should have had a penalty when the defender hit him in the head with a high foot when Roko was trying to head the ball into the net from close range.
Thanks Mart- good to know! I did not watch the whole game. He is looking more and more like a legimate NT prospect. I hope he continues his progression.
While running towards the ball at full speed I should add. Here’s a link to the highlights for those who haven’t seen it:

It’ll be interesting to see how Tottenham handle him ..
And also how Hajduk handle him …
theyre gunning for the title .. would they play him / disturbing current kemija…
My ideal situation would be he develops perfectly & makes up
part of backline in 2026′ WC👌
SUTALO GVARDIOL VUSKOVIC
we wouldn’t let a goal in all WC 😎
I want to see an all vuskovic cb pair for a match one day
I think Mario can be solid when he comes back
Too much competition now with Gvardiol and Šutalo
Absolutely
But still cool to have options
Sure hope we can find some good offensive pieces or we will have to really rely on a defensive way to win a championship
I don’t care if we win euro next year and just are decent average for ten years I’ll take it
