Dinamo Zagreb is back on track with a 3-0 win against Lokomotiva on Sunday thanks to a hat trick by Angelio Henriquez.
Dinamo was coming off a loss against Slaven Belupo last week and a a tough loss on the road to Celtic in the Europa League. It was important for the team to get back to winning ways.
Zoran Mamić made a few changes to the line up compared to the last match, starting Henriquez over the normally favored, Duje Čop. Mamić also had the pleasure of starting Jeremy Travel. Travel has been out with an injury since late last season and made his 2014 debut on Sunday.
Henriquez’ first goal came quickly in the Zagrebacki Derby. The goal was scored in the ninth minute, and was followed by his second goal in the 38th minute, which came from a penalty kick.
Henriquez found himself on the score sheet again in 86th minute to cap off his hat trick.
Mamćc has announced that he would be pleased to buy out Henriquez’ contract from Manchester United if they are willing to sell. Henriquez was also quoted prior to the match in Glasgow that he would be happy to stay at Dinamo.
The Jadranksi Derby ended in a close 1-1 draw against Hajduk Split and Rijeka on Sunday, but the match was overshadowed by fan behavior and fighting on the field.
Hajduk was the home team in the derby, but due to field maintenance at Poljud, the match was played at NK Dugopolje’s stadium, Stadion Hrvatsi Vitezovi, which has a capacity of 5,200.
Rijeka was entering the match going eight straight matches going unbeaten against Hajduk, and Sunday proved to be no different.
Hajduk stuck first when Mijo Caktaš scored in the 22nd minute, but Zoran Kvrzić tied the match in the 64th minute.
The score held for the remainder of the match, and both teams split the points, and Rijeka has gone nine consecutive matches without losing to Hajduk Split.
In between goals, several players were found sparring amongst one another, as well as against Hajduk coach, Igor Tudor. Tudor found himself in the middle of a shoving match after refusing to give the ball to a Rijeka player for a thrown in.
Several Rijeka players also found themselves on the wrong end of objects thrown onto the field by members of Torcida. Torcida members allegedly broke 160 seats of the stadium and tore them out, several of which were thrown at Rijeka players.
Members of Armada were certainly not without blame, as they have been accused of tearing out 25 seats and tossing them throughout the stadium.
Hajduk is now responsible for a 30,000 kuna bill for the rental of the stadium and the replacements of the seats.
Istra hosted RNK Split in Pula this weekend in their 2-0 victory. Forward Dejan “The Rebound King” Radonjić scored two quick goals against the Reds to take three points from the match.
Radonjic’s first goal came in the 84th minute when he headed a rebound from goalkeeper Andrija Vuković into the net.
He doubled his tally only two minutes later after beating Vuković on a one-on-one, but striking the post instead of the back of the net. Luckily, Radonjić followed up his own rebound off the post to score his second goal.
NK Osijek put a goal-scoring display on against Zadar, winning the match 4-1. This is Zadar’s second straight loss, and second loss since Ciro Blazevic has taken charge of the club.
Friday’s match featured a surprise comeback from Slaven Belupo, as they drew NK Zagreb 1-1 thanks to a goal from Marko Mirić in the 90th minute for Slaven.
Zagreb looked to take all three points after Leopold Novak scored in the 68th minute, but Slaven worked hard to earn the elusive away point.
I almost forgot when there was a house right behind the goal with a family living in it. That was the best haha.
Have none of you been to Stanovi in Zadar in that long? Ever since Custic tragically passed away there are only bleachers on one side and behind the goals. They are all plastic seats. It’s actually not that bad.
Before that it was all concrete around. No seats just concrete. Man those were fun games when they had the HNL double headers. Watching Hajduk play first then Croatia Zagreb at the time was something special. Stanovi were full of Tornado and Torcida. Capacity was about 5000 people and they would fit 8000 easy into Stanove.
Ever since KK Zadar moved to Visnjik it’s not the same. Jazine games were the best atmosphere in all of Croatia back in the day.
Know your facts people.
@ Armada 87543347888 . If U had to Deal with the Like’s of Mamic/dinamo International (G) team , & the Front office of Hajduk Selling Every Player that Starts to Preform Good , U would start to lose it Too !! Bog , Hrvati , Hajduk , USA , Galaxy , i HNS !!!
Blatter is running for re-election so this is to get the votes from outside Europe. Although, last it checked he was running unapposed.
African teams routinely shit the bed and embarrass themselves, but this tourney is called the World Cup and as such should represent all the world.
Africa record at last world cup 3 Wins, 3 Draws, 11 Losses.
Yes, seems like the 6th best team in Africa should be included in the tournament.
that being said, you knew it’d only be a matter time. Europe, although the best, is way over-represented from a population standpoint. And FIFA is about $$$$$$$. Which means they need to tap bigger and growing markets
Denis, don’t be too confident. You never know what the future holds
The good news? Fifa is about $$$$! so the world cup pool will eventually be expanded just like the Euro pool was
Well it looks like it will be a little harder for a european team to qualify for the WC2018. Africa will most likely get a sixth spot and take away a spot from Europe.

We have a bright future so I’m not too worried.
.
There seems to be a lot of Lovren defenders in the comments section of that article at least.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2220851-why-dejan-lovren-is-under-pressure-for-liverpool-following-win-vs-west-brom
Hugely negative article about Lovren.
@Denis – You’re right – seems to be a throwback to the typical Balkan defender – a little slow and a red card waiting to happen.
@Bobby V,
I was never a Lovren fan. Liverpool overpayed for his services and I just dont see him as a top 5 EPL team defender.
Hopefully he reads this and proves me wrong.

The first round of this U-19 qualifying is being played by all 4 teams (Iceland, Turkey, Estonia, Croatia) in a few different locations in Croatia.
Croatia’s U-19 team beat Estonia today 1-0 (A. Roguljic 24′) They play Iceland on Thursday and Turkey on Sunday.
@Ziva – Yeah, you’re right. The only thing I’d save is the betting parlor right at the main entrance of Stanovi.
The Tornado wouldn’t care – they’re too busy supporting the basketball club anyway.
@Bobby V……the jadan, mali i nemocan hajduk-Rijeka game should have been played in Zadar. That way they could have destroyed that dump.
Wait a minute, some of you guys are now realizing Tudor is a headcase.
Anyway, I have some good news to pass along………..http://www.index.hr/sport/clanak/u-rubinu-nezadovoljni-livaja-nakon-samo-pola-godine-napusta-rusiju/775884.aspx

Bravo Dinamo and Mamic.

from today’s SN:
Andrej Kramarić: ‘U Sofiji nas čeka luda atmosfera, ali ako sam prošao Dugopolje…’
ha
@Slavonac
Well said about Tudor. Nail on. Douche bag.
Tudor was always a douche bag!
TUDOR = PIZDA!!!!!
SHAME!!!!!!!!
Our esteemed leader 😀
A dopredsjednik? Jesu li pokidane veze uspostavljene?
@ Cico
How does it feel to have a trener who is a complete BITCH?
Tudor is a punk, an idiot, embarrassment to the league.
Bravo Torcida. Nice job destroying one of the nicest stadions in Croatia.
I wish someone from Rijeka would of just slapped Tudor when he got lippy. He’s a little fuckin punk, just like how he was when he played for the repka.
Glad the Hajduk-Rijeka game wasn’t played in Zadar as originally talked about.
If the Torcida and Armada had did the same, Zadar would have had to replace those old wooden benches that give you splinters up your ass – good thing we didn’t lose those – they add charm.
