RNK SPLIT 0 – 3 GNK DINAMO ZAGREB
Dinamo made it look easy at Youth Park in Split as they waltz past Split with a score of 3-0.
Split was celebrating their 102nd birthday during the mid-week match on Wednesday, but with two goals from Duje Čop and one from Junior Fernandez, Split had to settle for a loss on their special day.
Split also finished the match with only nine men as Dario Ragusević was sent off after being shown his second yellow card on a horrific tackle on Fernandez.
Fernandez had to be carted off the field and transported to a hospital in Split and suffered a broken leg from the tackle.
Henri Belle received his two yellow cards in a matter of seconds that left his team with two men down.
The Camaroonian forward received his first one after a tackle on Josip Pivarić, but quickly received another when he would not stop arguing with the referee.
Dinamo would go on to win the match and maintained their 11-point lead in the league standings.
NK HRVATSKI DRAGOVOLJAC 4 – 1 HNK HAJDUK SPLIT
Hajduk’s coach, Igor Tudor was also trying to celebrate his birthday, but the small team from Zagreb put a damper on his party and thwarted Hajduk by scoring four goals and taking three points.
It only took two minutes for the Volunteers to get on the board when Tomislav Mrčela scored the opening goal.
Soon after, The Volunteers were awarded a penalty kick due to a handball in the box, but after much deliberation between the center and assistant referees, the call was over turned, and Hajduk remained down only one goal.
But the Volunteers took their goal back and made it 2-0 when Jan Doležal beat Lovre Kalinić in the 24th minute.
The highlight for many though came after Dario Tomić scored The Volunteers third goal.
Tomić made his debut for the club ans scored his first goal in the HNL and had a special celebration planned.
To those watching the telecast, it was unknown what Tomić revealed to the photographers, but once the photos were released after the match, Tomic revealed a BBB shirt under his jersey.
Tomić said that it was in order to support Zajedno Za Dinamo initiative, and he also stated that it is his dream to play for his favorite club, Dinamo Zagreb.
Hajduk would get on the board eventually, but only thanks to an own goal by Davor Špehar.
Dragovoljac regained their three-goal lead in the 92nd minute with a goal from Mario Rašić.
NK LOKOMOTIVA 3 – 2 NK ISTRA 1961
Lokomotiva took care of business against visiting Istra this week with a score of 3-2.
A penalty from Dinko Trebotić and two goals from Luka Begonja were enough for the Lokosi to walk away with the win.
The loss was tough for Istra as it is their sixth league-loss in a row, and eighth loss in a row in all competitions.
Seung-Hyeon Yoon made it 1-0 for Istra, but the were un able to hold the lead. Slavko Blagojević attempted to mount a comback and brought it within one goal in the 70th minute, but it was not enough to salvage a point, and Lokomotiva earned all three points.
HNK RIJEKA 3 – 0 NK ZADAR
Rijeka are back to their winning ways as the shut out Zadar at Kantrida 3-0.
Rijeka are still fighting for second place, but their fight just got a lot easier with the win. The win puts them five points clear of Hajduk, who are in third place.
Ivan Krstanović got the scoring started in the 11th minute with a penalty kick that he easily turned into a goal.
Vedran Jugović followed suite with a goal in the 28th minute, and Ivan Tomečak finished off the match with his 71st minute goal.
NK SLAVEN BELUPO 2 – 1 NK OSIJEK
Slaven Belupo saw victory for the second consecutive match this week, and are doing their part to make the race to avoid relegation very exciting.
The team is still only two points clear of last place, but their play in the past month has been improving, and they are doing everything the can to catch Osijek, whom of which they are tied with on points.
Dragovljac sits closely behind them, so Slaven is feeling the pressure, and dealing with it well.
