Despite a magnificent performance from Luka Ivanušec, Joško Gvardiol, and Domagoj Bradarić, the Mladi Vatreni fell short to Spain’s under-21 side 2-1 in the Under-21 Euro quarterfinal round.
Stipe Biuk drew a penalty in the dying minutes of regulation that Luka Ivanušec converted to send the match into extra time. In the 110th minute of the game, Spain’s Javier Puado scored his second goal of the game to give the Spaniards a ticket to the semifinal.
Luka Ivanušec was not only my man of the match, but also my player of the tournament for the Mladi Vatreni. Mario Vušković and Lovro Majer also impressed, and could be on their ways to a top 5 league this summer.

Lol Medo he reminds me of a guy in 8th grade I went to school with who had a full beard.
We have some nice pieces going forward on this team, and that’s not even mentioning sucic.
Nothing to be disappointed after that match. Spain are too strong and are five time winners. First time for the youth seeing a QF match. We drew England and knocked them out of the group, got a win finally and made QF.
What in the world were we doing on the game winner by Spain….? Future is bright, yes, but boze was that a bad way to lose that game….
@ARMADA1987 Poor defending but let’s be proud. It was the first time under 21s have progressed to knockout stages. They went up against Spain who are defending champs and are tied for most titles. Lots of positives and promising players.
Is it just me or does gvardiol look like he could slot seemlessly into the Algerian national team as a 37 yr old defender?
Hahaha best comment
Future looks just fine for us overall
