Anthony “The Hippo” Perosh made quick work of UFC rookie Nick Penner at UFC on FX2 tonight. The Australian born Croatian took Penner to the ground and used his superior ground skills to gain top position and pound out a stoppage at 4:59 of the first round. This victory gives Perosh three straight wins in the UFC since moving down in weight. The Hippo’s striking game looked much improved in this fight and at 39 years of age, time is of the essence for Perosh.
The Hippo will need to face a top ranked opponent in his next outing if he intends on making a title run in the UFC. The light heavyweight division is stacked with tough guys but Perosh has the advantage on the ground with a lot of the top guys. The biggest issue in Anthony’s game is his striking, but it looked improved in this bout. If Perosh can continue to improve his striking he will be a tough fight for anyone in the division. Only the future will tell how far Anthony “The Hippo” Perosh can continue this win streak at light heavyweight.

Ziva Istina you don’t even watch this sport so go and get bent.
I saw the Perosh fight and he looked strong and crisp. This new weight class is working for him.
@ Ziva……all Cro Cop HAD on his shorts was checkers (no advertisements)…. and I bet Persoh only dreams of making the same amount of money that Cro Cop did.
Would having advertisements AND a few checkers destroy his money making ability? Apparently in your world.
@Toronto Croatia……..why is it pissing you off? It’s his career. Nothing wrong with collecting a nice salary with the advertisements on his shorts. There is something to be said about having a good lifestyle.
Maybe the Australian-born Hrvat cares more about his lifestyle than being Croatian. So what? You need to think more like a pro athlete and not a fan. I am sure in his mind (in fact I know this is their thinking because of my inside sources) that placing some checkers on a spot where he could place an advertisement instead will not impact his life in any way possible.
Persh looks a lot better at 205. He doesn’t even look seem like the same guy that Cro Cop demolished a few years back. I know that he stepped up as a last minute replacement for that fight. He’s got tons of heart. Too bad he’s 39.
@Toronto Croatia
I thought the exact same thing.At least I spotted a guy in a Cro jersey in the second row behind Cain Velasquez
I can appreciate that Perosh is holding it down for Australia but it wouldn’t kill him to have some “checker’s” represented somewhere.
Thanks for the fight video post. Ya things are looking up for Croatian fighters in the UFC. All three have a winstreak going in the UFC.
