We’re trying something new at CSR, and bringing in some betting tips for your degenerate gamblers. I’m usually better at giving advice on bets than betting myself, therefore, here are you picks for the weekend.
Villa (favorite) vs Newcastle: Newcastle (Under 2.5 goals)
Newcastle have gotten the better of Villa in the past few years both home and away. Luckily for Villa, Newcastle in are in a bit of shambles after coach Pardew put one of their best players, Hatem Ben Arfa, on the bench. Even though Newcastle lost to a strong Man City team, watch for them to bounce back against a Villa side who don’t like to score many goals.
Chelsea (favorite) vs Leicester: Chelsea (Under 3 goals) S.T.L
Fabregas, Schurrle, Hazard, Costa, and Oscar. I’m pretty positive I don’t have to say much more about who is winning this one. Leicester had a great showing against Everton, but that’s due to the adrenaline pumping after their promotion to the EPL after 10 years. The big question here is will there be more than 3 goals scored in this game. I’m saying no, and sticking with the under.
Crystal Palace (favorite) vs West Ham Palace (Under 2.5 goals)
Palace lost their coach, Tony Pulis, before the game last weekend and have an owner that is bat shit crazy. Aside from that, they have a side with 3 new Pulis signings that performed well in their loss against a stacked Arsenal side. Teams usually play very well for a new coach, but the statistics under an interim are usually quite shaky. They are facing a West Ham side that relies on the likes of Andy Carroll, who has the build of a hockey enforcer and the scoring ability that compares to most of our readers. This could very well end up in a draw, but I’m taking Palace on sheer will and ability to actually get the ball in the goal.
Swansea (favorite) vs Burnley Swansea (Over 2.5 goals)
With a win against Man United over the weekend, Swansea are looking to keep their campaign going as a solid mid level team. With Burnley’s new promotion to the EPL, we won’t be seeing a lot of fire power and points going their way. Even though it most likely won’t happen, be wary. Teams do tend to take a dip in performance after accomplishing wins over big name teams.
Southampton (favorite) vs West Brom Southampton (Under 2.5)
Let’s face it, nobody follows these teams unless you live in the region or your family members got you to root for teams that won’t bring home silverware. Southampton looked decent in their game against Liverpool, but obviously came up short to a stronger side. Look for new signing Tadic to be the difference maker here.
Everton vs Arsenal (heavy favorite) Everton (Over 2.5)
This is going to be one hell of a match. Arsenal have the home advantage, and we all know the players they’ve picked up, but they are coming off a Champions League game. Everton lost Barkley on the weekend, but still have the crafty coach Roberto Martinez and goal hungry Lukaku. They have also picked up Bosnian Muhamed Besic, who just might get a look after having a nice preseason showing. I’m going against the grain and picking Everton against the spread this weekend. Even if it’s a draw, as the lines stand now, you’ll be getting your money back. This is going to be a must watch game.
Hull (favorite) vs Stoke Stoke (Under 2.5)
Again, two decent teams that you probably never watch unless it’s the only game on. Hull is the favorite, but Bojan Krkic has had such an amazing preseason that I think he bags the game winner in this game. Even if it’s a draw, as the lines stand now, you’ll be getting your money back.
Tottenham HotSpurs (favorite) vs QPR Spurs (Over 2.5)
QPR should probably just get their bags packed for the next week’s game. This isn’t going to be pretty, and QPR should be on their heels most of the game.
Sunderland vs Man United(favorite) Man United (Over 2.5)
There is just no way in hell that I can see Man United picking up two losses to start the season. I know they don’t a squad like they’ve had in the past, but Van Gaal is a good coach that should be able to lead this team to victory. Sunderland scored twice last weekend against West Brom, which is like being able to bring a girl home but making sure not to tell your friends about it the next day.
Man City (favorite) vs Liverpool Man City (Over 2.5)
I really want to love Liverpool after the Lovren signing and the Suarez exit, but I don’t think they have the chemistry to muster a win against a Man City squad that looks like the showtime Lakers of the EPL. Liverpool looked a bit shaky in their first game of the season, and Man City have the firepower to make any defense collapse. Lovren has been doing well, and his team needs him to perform out of his mind for Liverpool to even think about taking 3 points.
Here is a stone cold lock:
AllenOutraged will never get laid. Ever.
For 11 years, I bet on sports each and every night. That was before cell phones. Needed to pull over to many payphones throughout those years.
Very rarely bet on a favorite. Knowing when to bet on an underdog is he only way to be one of the 2 percent who make money.
1-2 games a night maximum. Releasing an opinion or betting on every game on the board is a losing cause.
Rule of thumb? A decent to good team on the road as a slight underdog.
I never said we were the only country with idiots running the savez. Still, having Puppet Suker as the head of the savez is the equivalent of having a 6th grader in charge of a Fortune 500 company. I use 6th grader because I am told that is Puppet Suker’s intellectual level.
Ziva,
What about this. Belgian papers report about a scandal with the Belgian Football Federation. The four leaders of this organization earn between 200.000 and 400.000 Euro (this is between 264.000 and about 530.000 Dollar) every year. The press just found out about this. And even more, because Belgium qualified for the World Cup in Brazil, they decided that all four of them should get an extra 100.000 for their work. And if they qualify for Euro 2016, they will get the same amount.
What makes it even worse: the committee who decided this has four members… the four who will get the 100.000 Euro.
And as if that’s not enough. They hired a hotel for the women of the players but in the end the coach decided that they better didn’t pay a visit before the semi-final (they didn’t make it to the semi-final). But the Belgian football federation forget all about this and forget to cancel the hotel. So too late and they lost another 300.000 Euro.
So you see, Ziva. It’s not only Croatia.
Hajduk is paying +160 to beat Osijek
Home team was always the first team. Thanks for the heads up
if you want to give gambling tips, it would help to know the home team.
Good job none the less Lebo.
I like this new segment.
Arsenal are actually at Goodison this weekend.
