It’s official. Every team slated to compete in the 1.HNL for the 2016/17 season has been awarded first-league licences by the HNS.
HNK Cibalia were crowned champions of the Druga Liga last week and will be joining the top division of Croatian football come next season. They will be replacing the relegated NK Zagreb, who by chance were also given a first-league license.
HNK Šibenik, who were runners up in the Druga League, will face NK Istra 1961 in a two-legged play off meeting to determine who will play in the first league next year.
The double-legged formatted competition begins on Sunday, May 29 in Šibenik. The second leg will take place in Pula on Wednesday, June 1. The playoffs are tallied on aggregate goals with away goals breaking the tie.
Istra will be fighting for their lives in order to remain in the Prva Liga, but Šibenik are coming ff a strong season in the Druga Liga and expect to advance to the Prva Liga.
All HNL teams that will be competing in European competition next season, which includes Dinamo Zagreb, HNK Rijeka, NK Lokomotiva, and Hajduk Split, all received UEFA licenses and are eligible to play in the tournaments.

Is there not a euro 2016 song??
“Dinamo Ja Volim makes you want to go through a cement wall whereas Kada Umrem by Coce makes you want to get a glass of Chardonnay.”
LOL. Got some legitimate funny comments the last couple of days.
I’ll take the bait on some of this back and forth too.
Find me a better navijacka pjesma than Način života…
Zbog nje sam presretan
Zbog nje sam nesretan
Nama je Rijeka sve
Mi živimo zbog nje
Za nju navijamo
Pod našim stijenama
Teče ko Rječina
U našim venama
I protiv Hajduka
I protiv Dinama
Bit ćemo uz tebe
Na svim tribina
Ma neka svatko zna
Nek čuje Hrvatska
Način života je
Da Rijeku volim ja
Oooooooo
Da Rijeku volim ja
Oooooooo
HNK Rijeka – Prva Liga runners up 3 years and running!!! ha
And technically, it’s not a himna from the original version either. Whooooa you learn something new everyday!
They established it as their himna like Hajduk did with Bili su bili. Just asked a friend who supports Hajduk and he said to su pisme a ne himne. Nasa himna je bili su bili. He must be lying.
I guess Liverpools You’ll never walk alone isn’t there anthem then. Good luck explaining that to them….
Our opinions differ then.
Fan anthems are songs that fans embrace as theirs and what is displayed in the stadiums. That’s my opinion on fan anthems.
Not really. Those aren’t himne. If you said Bili su bili then maybe but again that song isn’t the same arena as Dinamo Ja Volim. Now you’re just talking about what songs are louder. If that’s the case then you can classify jebes zagreb jebes dinamo as a himna which was the loudest I’ve heard at Poljud.
Twisting it to favor your opinion is funny. When you know what the real point was. Any of those 3 have rattled Poljud many more time than your one has Maksimir you know it maksimir and poljud knows it.
Three songs and three anthems when all you need is one.
Oh great…………another pissing contest.
Can’t we just leave it as the following…..dinamo fans love Dinamo Ja Volim and Hajduk apologists like Dalmacijo or whatever else is sung by a fat guy.
Neither one is understood by 99% of the planet. YNWA alone is understood by more than 1% of the planet.
Reaction of the fallen and wounded. Priceless!
Correct. I agree with you. There is no comparison as Dinamo Ja Volim is the better. You’re comparing three songs to one. Therein is the support I needed. Thanks
When you say “best navijacka himna” that means its embraced by the navijaci as their anthem. This leads to rituals in stadiums and Poljud has embraced the 3 songs you mentioned more so in their rituals than Maksimir has Dinamo ja volim. I’ve been to both stadiums many times and there is no comparison comparing Dinamo ja volim to the 3 previously mentioned Hajduk anthems.
Disagree. Put up Dinamo Ja Volim to any navijacka pjesma and it’s a no brainer, especially in our area. Remember, Dalmacijo or Dalmatinac sam are not originally navijacke pjesme. Therefore you have not convinced me otherwise. Dinamo Ja Volim makes you want to go through a cement wall whereas Kada Umrem by Coce makes you want to get a glass of Chardonnay. It’s been a while but I’ve heard a full Maksimir sing it…ten years ago when everybody was on the same page.
That crash after i svu svoju mladost sam tebi ja dal is like non other.
By far not the best navijacka himna! That is owned by Coce everybody knows it.
Maybe the best Dinamo has but i am yet to hear a packed Maksimir embrace it as many times a packed Poljud has embraced Coces umotan u bilo or Dalmacijo. They are a like a religious ritual in Poljud . Dinamo ja volim is not a ritual.
Really? News to me. I’ll bite
Agreed on Dinamo Ja Volim. Great team related fan song, best in Croatia by far.
Ante B. – Got some intel and someone told me you can belt out a fantastic rendition of Dalmacijo. I think that might call for a YouTube video. Thoughts?
And you’re right. Other than YNWA, Dinamo Ja Volim is the greatest navijacka himna ever produced.
Ganga,
True. The glass is always half full. Great perspective.
After this Euro 2016 is over, you will be considering the greatest Ante in Croatian history is:
A . Cacic
B . Gotovina
C. Pavelic
D. B
Ante B. if the name was changed to Gradanski as you suggest. What would happen to the greatest fan song in the history of this beautiful game …. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvxbSU6YaYI
Luka,
Solid input! It’s a shame that politics had to play a role in changing the name from Dinamo to HASK Gradanski. IF, back then, the name was changed to Gradanski then rest assured it would be Gradanski today. Politika je kurva.
@Maminjo and Ante B.
If I had a choice I would change it to Grandanski and remove Dinamo. Unfortunately we are stuck with the Dinamo name but I will continue to support this team.
I always enjoy the discussion on this topic and thank you Ante B. for posting the above article.

Nije mi bila namjera da vrijedam
Nisan sigurna za zadnju recenicu. Svaki cigo svoga konja hvali…………
I personally would keep it but it’s a generational thing. My deda would tell you Gradanski. Perhaps the best answer, by far, is what this person wrote:
“Da raščistimo odmah na početku nedoumice. Ovde pišem o jednom klubu, jednom srcu i jednoj ljubavi. Ona se zvala vu srcu i na jeziku mog pradjeda Građanski. Moj djed i moj otac, kao i ja, tu ljubav vežemo uz ime Dinamo. Zakaj je bilo tak? 1945. Nitko u Zagrebu nije imal izbora. To kaj vele drugi… ni bitno. Neka, mi smo im oprostili, ali oni nama nikad nebuju oprostili jedno. To kaj smo bolji. No Purgeri ne kukaju puno. Šute, trpe i bore se. Tak je Dinamo postal svetinjom. Ikonom Hrvatstva. Drugi ju budeju pljuvali i omalovažavali, no uvek bu ostala istina koja bu ih vječno žuljala. Dinamo je uistinu najveći, najtrofejniji i najhrvatskiji nogometni klub.”
Do you agree that the name should be changed back to Građanski, with the word Dinamo removed?
No need to apologize. The easy and complicated answer is…drum roll…both 1911 and 1945. Dinamo started in 1945 but was a clear continuation of Gradanski. Dinamo used Gradanski’s colors and old stadium. Remember that while Dinamo eventually moved to Maksimir, their first stadium was on Koturaska. Plus most of the support for Dinamo came from the Gradanski fans.
@ Ante
Not sure you ever chimed in on this, but I’m curious to know. Apologies if you provided your take on this already.
For you, is Dinamo founded in 1945 or 1911?
Yet Dinamo calls itself “Građanski” Nogometni Klub Dinamo.
And I’m pretty sure if I ask any BBB how long ago their Dinamo klub was established, they would tell me an earlier date than 1945.
Dinamo is Građanski. Everybody knows it. My point was that, unfortunately, this was not corrected when we had the chance to do so (like how Cibalia did) and now we’re stuck with it.
Maminjo,
Correction in your statement. The commies never combined HASK and Gradanski after WWII to form Dinamo. They dissolved both and created Dinamo as a separate entity.
The renaming of Dinamo to HASK Gradanski was also a tragedy of its own and akin to Real Madrid Barcelona or Celtic Rangers or even Manchester Liverpool United. Being renamed back to Gradanski by itself had support at the beginning of the war but as we all know that turned to shit once Croatia Zagreb came into the picture after HASK Gradanski. A theme I fought with my old man about for the rest of his life.
HAŠK was one of the greatest clubs in Croatian football history which was then destroyed when the communists combined them and Građanski to form Dinamo Zagreb.
HAŠK has been brought back (they are somewhere in the lower divisions) but it’s not officially the same club even though they have the logo and colors.
Concordia has nothing to do with Dinamo. They were their own thing and they also were killed off during the same time as the HAŠK Građanski conversion into Dinamo.
What about HASK and Concordia who were the original occupants of Maksimir Stadium
is Građanski a town in Lika?
Dinamo Vinkovci was called Cibalia way before the communists renamed it as Dinamo.
They did the right thing. Unfortunately the purgeri did the wrong thing by keeping the Dinamo and Lokomotiva names over Građanski and NK Victoria.
Over 100 years of history down the drain.
What are you guys posting about?
and 85% of the people who come to this site have no clue what either one of us is posting about.
Dinamo Zagreb should be Građanski.
Cibalia should be Dinamo Vinkovci
