Luka Sučić assisted on the lone goal of the game Sunday in Real Sociedad’s 1-0 victory over 1st place Barcelona. During the 1st half, Sučić perfectly flicked the ball with his head to put teammate Sheraldo Becker on a mini break-away which he capitalized on. That was all the scoring in the match as Sociedad denied all Barcelona attempts through out the 90 minutes. Sučić played 61 minutes in the match and received a 7.4 FOTMOB rating for his performance. Real Sociedad now sit six points behind a Champions League berth with the win. Barca lose a bit of ground on Real Madrid as Los Blanocs won on the weekend.
Mateo Kovačić, Joško Gvardiol and Man City are officially in trouble. City have now lost four matches in a row across three different competitions. On Saturday, Manchester City took a 1-0 lead into the 78th minute against Brighton. However, Brighton would find two goals in the last 15 minutes of the match to win 2-1. City now trail 1st place Liverpool by five points after 11 matches played in the Premier League season. Kova received a 7/10 from Goal.com as “His passing was excellent in the first half, doing the hard work for Haaland’s goal. Stood off too much in the second.” Gvardiol did not receive his usual accolades; receiving a 5/10 rating with “A good first half made way for a disastrous second. Flashed a header wide when City were chasing the game.”
Mario Pašalić scored the equalizer in Atalanta’s 2-1 win over Udinese. Atalanta now sit one point behind Napoli for 1st place in Serie A.
Luka Modrić played the 2nd half against Osasuna Saturday in a 4-0 Real Madrid victory.
On Wednesday, U19 Euro Qualifier in Karlovac (Croatia v Armenia KO 13:00 hrs Cro time). Serbia and Belarus also in the group. Top two go to the next round of qualifiers.
Live coverage on MAXSport 1.
Looking forward to seeing midfielder Oliver Lukic from Salzburg play. A lot has been written about him and how good he is. Noa Mikic and Durdov also in the squad. Have seen Mikic play a few times and have not been impressed, the guy is overrated in the media.
Interesting we have an ethnic Serb in the squad by the name of Milos Jovicic, born in Osijek and plays for TSC Backa Topola in Serbia. Good to see that he has chosen to play for Croatia, I just hope that he does not switch to Serbia at a later date if by some chance he develops into a good player worthy of seniors?
Easy 4 – 0 win over Armenia. Durdov with the opening goal and an assist for Zivkovic for our second. Two goals in the second half by Bradaric his first a stunning shot from distance into the top right-hand corner.
Next match on Saturday v Belarus who drew 2 – 2 with Serbia.
I would only welcome a Croatian born “ethnic serb” if they identify as Croatian. Also, we should find out what their grandfather’s were up to in the early 90’s.
Kristijan Kahlina named MLS goalie of the year.
Dalić been spitting some fire eg
“A stand-by call-up is essentially our insurance, as it requires the club to release a player if something unexpected happens.”
No dalic u don’t need a standby list to begin w
England announced squad last Thursday (10 days after u did) with NO standby list
By Monday 8 England players withdrew from squad
So England named 8 replacements
Not from some silly dumb list (where eg u put hrgovic that got called for the U21s) – they have no issue getting clubs to release more players – so no clue why u think u need an “insurance” nor give clubs a 2 week heads up
Really silly – let’s try to sophisticate the approach going forward as it’s kind of primitive as it stands
Operation #EveryWingerDoesn’tMatter working perfectly 😎😎😎
We just need to keep it up for 3 more days – please maintain the self-control (Anonymous recognizes this is taxing – but almost there)
Dalic – please don’t be a MORON and start both Marco P x2 on the wings (or any natural winger for that matter) – let’s continue to SMARTLY employ Alf Ramsey’s Wingerless Wonders tactics – you are so BRILLIANT starting naturally centrally focused #10s on the wings – the opposition has no way to defend against 8 #10s on the field at one time – GENIUS stuff !

Now our boys are making powerful choices with their careers for ages 20-24!
This is the age where you need to play and be apart of the clubs immediate plans.
Luka Sučić plays for Sociedad. He makes mistakes but keeps on ballin and that’s where that header for the game winning assist comes from to beat FARCA.
Speaking of playing time, Prezume Pasalic needs some minutes these next two matches. Mario is a great squad player for us and Marco needs an opportunity on that RW.
@ Scotland and home to Portugal are going to be high octane affairs and we need dynamic depth to be successful.
Shhh re: Marco
PLEASE
See Operation #EveryWingerDoesn’tMatter
With Budimir suspended for one match and Petkovic not fully fit, Dalic should have called up Kulenovic for the upcoming matches.
Poor Orsic, according to the media he has been dropped from the first grade at Trabzonspor and has to train with the reserves. In the last month he has only played 17 minutes. He needs to leave in January and find another club.
Our U21 are already in Georgia but without Beljo how has an ankle injury and is in doubt also for the return leg. Ljubicic is also not fully fit and will miss both matches against Georgia.
I’m a bit confused with the current situation… we only have 4 defenders on the roster excluding Jakic. Is Dalic expected to call up one more CB (most likely Pongracic)?
Pongracic has been called up
Thanks John!
Pong has only played 45 min (with the reserves on Nov 3rd) over the last 2+ months (he’s been injured) – zero first team football in 2+ months !
But Dalic doesn’t watch the players so he wouldn’t know he isn’t playing these days
Luka Sucic provided a header assist for Sheraldo Becker as Real Sociedad upset Barcelona 1-0 in San Sebastian.
Also Miocic vs Jon Jones next Saturday…
Juric sacked
How do we feel about the influx of Italian ancestry into the future of Croatian football?
I know the board has been hesitant for too many people from Brazil, Africa etc playing for the nt but is it more accepting cause Italy is so close and culturally tied?
As i see it now, arguably 4 key youth players are all of Italian ancestry
Josko gvardiol-o
Martin baturina
Sutalo
Igor matanoviccio
I am more worried about the influx of drugs to your brain, or what’s left of it.
Hercegovci all have “alo” name endings (Menalo, Cuvalo, Brekalo, etc.).
The fact that you think that anything with a vowel ending is Italian shows how little you know about the World.
Also, we already covered the Gvardiol last name and its origins in a previous thread last year. Nothing Italian about it. Name doesn’t and has never existed in Italy or its history.
Shut up
SUB: Luka Modric (45′ for Vazquez) – 7/10 – Still doesn’t play anything like a 39-year-old, ghosting around with ease as Madrid took full control.
They are a squad full players at Real who are getting injured and not performing NOT named Luka Modrić.
I am blown away that the Vatreni are better positioned to support Luka playing his best than Real Madrid.
They chose Mbappe when they have Vini at LW and a clear need for defenders across the back line.
Not to mention Bellingham destroying as a #10 last year.
Luka will be ready for USA ‘26 World Cup no matter where he plays.
He is a different type of pro when it comes to preparation.
Can’t see him at other team in La Liga.
Playing at Milan would be cool.
Dinamo return would be legend.
MLS move to a major Croatian community would be a good marketing move before the World Cup.
Modrić to MLS next year may not be a bad thing for the 2026 WC. I’d like to think that Dalić may actually reduce his time and learn from his Brozović mistake of trusting too much in a guy that went to a weaker league and fell out of form. If Modrić can stay in good enough shape to give us 45-60 minutes that could work with our young guns stepping up.
Also, the US loves cross marketing and having Modrić in the MLS may help us get a little Messi in Qatar type of treatment with soft penalties going our way in the WC. More MLS marquee names doing well and going deep in the WC is good exposure for their brand.
As I reread my first paragraph I see that I’m deluding myself. Dalić would still be starting Brozović next week if he didn’t retire himself from the NT. So if Modrić is still available and playing in 2026, you can expect Dalić to play him 90 minutes in most games.
Lol @your last paragraph… it’s true. If Brozovic didn’t retire, Petar Sucic would never have gotten the chance to show us his talent so soon. And yes if Modric is still playing in 2026, we can expect him to play 90 minutes most games. Same with Perisic.
Dalic being Dalic… *shrugs*
Modric playing MLS would be great for marketing, but poor for his career. MLS is less technical and much more physically demanding, which is not the way he should be ending his career……unless he plays CAM, where he can pick his spots to influence the game and save his body.
Madrid is in real trouble along the back. Varane to return in January?
Not sure if anyone saw but there are reports in the Real Madrid camp that Modric may be retiring in June.
Hope it’s not true, but if it is he has led one hell of a career. Truly one of the best!
So Real loses a couple Luka is retiring
Madrid is a joke
Long live Luka
Play as long as you want in particular for Croatia
Madrid doesn’t really have loyalty to their players.
He’s been signing one-year deals with them for how long now?
If he is pushed out at Madrid, he will probably be heavily chased after by Miami or some other MLS teams.
The dropoff in quality is too much though, and even though the World Cup is in the USA…he would probably pull a Broz and drop off a lot in a year by playing there.
It would be cool to see him at Dinamo.
Teams from Serie A (like Milan) or La Liga (like Atletico) would probably be interested too.
I think Real has some rule that after a certain age it’s only one-year deals? I really hope he doesn’t come to MLS.
I assume this is his last year at Real (again lol) but will hang on for a Cro run at the bloated 2026 World Cup.
Dude is pushing 40 and still a key player on possibly the biggest team in the world? Mbappe can suck it.
Kova had a very good first half against Brighton, he was one of the best players on the field.
Injuries really piling up for Real. I don’t suspect Carlo will whine about it all day long like Pep does.
Does Luka ever get hurt? I remember some years ago (?) he had some adductor issues? …. Pushing 40 …. beast.
