Luka Modrić…OH MY! When you think you think the 39 year-old is out of tricks, he does this. Modrić opened the scoring vs. Girona Sunday night in Madrid with an amazing 27-yard half volley to send the Bernabeu into pandemonium! I mean, what more can you say about him at this point in his career? Modrić was voted MOTM with a 9.1 rating.
Goal.com said this about his performance: “Scored an absolute beauty to give Madrid the lead. Created chances, found the proper angles and looked to put the forwards in.”
Mateo Kovačić & Joško Gvardiol couldn’t do much against 1st place Liverpool Sunday in a 2-0 loss. Gvardiol played the full 90 minutes and received a pro 4/10 rating from Goal.com. “Made two errors simultaneously for the second goal as he allowed Salah to reach a through ball and then allowed the Egyptian to find Szoboszlai.” Kova came off the bench in the 78th minute with City already down two goals. Nothing he could add to the mix.
Luka Vušković scored his 7th Belgian goal of the season for Westero Saturday in only 25 matches. Absolutely amazing for a teenage CB. Westerlo would lose 3-1 to Sporting Charleroi.
Andrej Kramarić assisted in Hoffenheim’s 1-1 draw vs. Stuttgart Sunday. The point gets Hoffenheim 7 points free of the relegation zone.
Good news from Spain with reports that Luka Sucic is back in training and has recovered from the knee injury.
Anton Matkovic unfortunately will undergo knee surgery this week and will be out of action for at least eight months. As with Perisic it takes about 16 months after the surgery for the knee to recover and be at its optimal.
Yes, I just read that about Sucic
Terrific news.
Deflated about Matkovic as I always thought he was our best prospect. He’s still young tho
Cilic defeats de Minaur, the No. 2 seed, in Dubai.
I watched the third set, and he played really well to win the match. Surprise win after missing the Australian Open due to calf injury.
Why was stanisic out of the lineup Sunday? Not even on the bench
No clue.
He played two games last week (one league game and one CL game) in a three-day span so maybe they’re resting him?
Hopefully not a knock.
Tummy ache
Looks like Modric may be getting a contract extension with Real Madrid.

Looks like another one of our promising young players has done his knee ligaments. Anton Matkovic playing for Osijek against Hajduk had to be subbed in the 2nd minute of the match. Early medical reports from Osijek suggest that he has a raptured ACL ?
oh no!!!! FFS
Terrible news after he said this only around a month ago: 🎙️ Anton Matković:
“Thank God, the injuries are behind me. I had a pubic bone injury that took nearly a month and a half to heal. After recovering, I rejoined training and played a few matches, but then I felt a strain in my thigh during training and had to pause again late in the season.
This was my first serious pause in football. It wasn’t easy. I was constantly waiting for the moment I could return. Being injured and knowing you can’t push yourself further is tough, but luckily, it didn’t last more than two months.” [SN]
#Matković #Osijek #HNL
Shit.
He is a pretty big prospect for us.
Anyone heard of the Pavlesic keeper brothers from Aus – Iggy ?
Adam 22 y.o. played 1st game for the Mariners in the A-League and basically scored a goal from his own net (except his own player help the ball at the very end – what a teammate)

Anthony 19 y.o. plays for Bayern
Dalic – if your not calling Pandur (over Ivusic) at least call up Adam who can score (over Ivusic) – please
Ante
We must consider doing a quick note to congratulate Zrinka Ljutic
She came 2nd this weekend
But currently FIRST in WC slalom standings (after 8 of 10 events)
Well said. Hopefully we have another skier with success like Janica.
Roid her up like Kostelic!
We can replace those knees when she’s old and 30.
Great goal from Luka Modric. I am sure that he gets respected and praised from football fans and Madrid supporters but not as much as he does from fellow Croatians or the balkans. Also, players from Madrid have big egos and live in a bubble where they believe they are their own super stars.
Our other players need to find better clubs and teams that will let them play. For example, Stanisic, Sucic, Sosa and other younger players. It’s sad to see that we have a lot of talent but it’s not getting developed or used. The reporter Romano mentioned that Kovacic might be getting sold this summer from Manchester City but I did not see any other articles reporting it.
Lastly, makes you wonder if Pasalic or Musa would have went to MLS if Dalic took them seriously? Unless he was right about Pasalic not having enough talent?
From the Spanish Press on Sučić’s injury. Apparently he is out indefinitely he twisted a ligament in his knee. It does not give a timeline.

Sucic in an interview for SN states that he is out for at least 3 weeks.
Thankfully not a tear
Didn’t take long for marco p to smash one in for orlando
At some point on this board, can people express opinion as opinion and not as fact?
Isuse.
It is my opinion that: your comment is retarded. People are commenting. Do you expect everyone to start with, “It is my opinion….”? Assume that the comments are opinions.
Goodness. Go to bed.
No. He’s right. You’re a retard. Front lines for you in the next war.
Both Rijeka and Hajduk win 4 – 0. Rijeka was leading 1 – 0 against Dinamo when Dinamo had a player red carded (Kanga) in the 37 min and Rijeka with two quick goals before half time finished them off.
Good to see Petar Sucic make a return and in an interview after the match when asked about his foot injury he said it was all good.
Mid-week its Cro Cup time Hajduk v Rijeka and Dinamo v Osijek.
Pandur – wow – 1-0 shut-out vs. #4 Sunderland – 3 pts out of relegation
Crnac – on 2nd half – assisted Josh Sargent goal – Norwich currently 2-1
Dalic – you watching ?
What kind of injury does majer have? I think he’s only played 2 bundesliga games this year. What the hell is going on with him
Not sure, but he doesn’t strike me as a guy who would take his rehab too seriously.
He’s like a poor man’s Robert Prosinecki (both in skill and fitness).
Both have great technical skills, but Robert is better in this regard.
Both are slow and don’t prioritize fitness, but at least Majer doesn’t smoke like a chimney at halftime.
The game has evolved to the point where you really need to work on that fitness element of your game (where you can run for a full 90 and injury recovery/prevention). Look how far Petar Sucic has come because of it.
Right before the Euro 2024, Majer pretty much had a starting position locked down…but now, he’s fallen behind both of the Sucic cousins and Baturina. I can’t see him ever getting a starting role back with us (especially since you know there will probably be yet another young midfielder that comes up in the next couple of years).
Majer had complications with ankle injury and had to have surgery.
Expected to be back in March ?
It says February on the line up for each match but who knows when he will be back.
Zuti was a 40-a-day smoker and sub 4 minute mile runner.
Fitness wasn’t an issue until he got older.
Majer has grown on me. When he’s on (and not playing on the wing) he’s very good.
For Prosi to run a sub 4 minute mile is world class. The world record is 3:43. Do you have a source for that?
I’m looking and can’t find it now. Pretty sure it was an English source. Read it a long time ago. Not that surprised. When you watch him in the early 90s he could fly. Maybe it was more like the low 4 minute mark? I remember the phrasing of 40 a day smoker and sub 4 minute mile runner.

Maybe here? This is a cool site for stories.
Thanks for the link. Great article.
