I watched Fiorentina vs Spezia today and some Fiorentina player with a beautiful through ball to Duncan for what should of been a certain goal, if not for one Martin Erlic and an awesome tackle from behind, a tackle I like to think was heard around the world. Ultimately though Spezia lost, but it’s not Erlic’s fault, he did his part!

Croatia should try to maintain good ties with their neighbors, but also try and further develop ties with the ‘Visegrad 4’ in Central Europe that Kolinda started with the Three Seas Initiative (Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Czech, Slovakia).

Serbia tried to “Serbia” back in the 90s when they had full control of the Yugoslav army and Croatia was being blocked from buying any arms to defend themselves (thanks to the Western World trying to de-escalate the conflict by allowing the Serbs to have all the weapons).
If Tudjman wasn’t a crafty leader and if diaspora wasn’t around to fund and smuggle arms into the country, along with the resistance that a bunch of Croats with rifles and a few RPGs were capable of doing against jets, tanks and a full-fledged army…Croatia would have probably been like Bosna today.
First of all, there is no appetite for war in the region. This alone squashes everything.
Secondly, Croatia’s army is stronger than Serbia’s. If Serbia couldn’t win in the 90s, while possessing all of Yugo’s military weapons (along with 11% of Croatia’s population being Serbs and rebeling against Croatia too) what can they do today in their much weakened state against a much stronger Croatia?
Thirdly, unlike Ukraine, Croatia is part of NATO. So, Serbia would be foolish to try anything. Not that I have this faith in NATO, but it’s something that has to be considered.
Fourthly, the diaspora has grown a lot in these past 10 years. Bigger diaspora means that there are even more Croats with money, with them willing to send funds toward anything in terms of defense.

In Vukovar there were around 1,500 Croatian soldiers who were defending the city against 20,000 – 30,000 enemy soldiers.
Vukovar was sorrounded by the enemy and the Croatian army (HOS-ovci) started advancing to Vukovar to support the Croatian soldiers there, howewer Tudman ordered them to stop advancing to Vukovar. Vukovar fell and Yugoslav/Serb soldiers commited war crimes on Ovčara (place near Vukovar). They were killing civilians and Vukovar defenders. This evil man Tudman sacrificed Vukovar because he knew war crimes would happen, hoping in this way that other countries would accept Croatian independence. So much Croatian blood on Tudman’s hands, and yet Croats idolise that evil man.
