Luka Modrić locked up his 3rd La Liga crown with Real Madrid in 10 seasons with the club. Los Blancos thrashed Espanyol 4-0 to secure their 35th Spanish title, which is the all-time lead. Modrić got the start and played 60 minutes in the match as all eyes are now on the Champions League 2nd leg semifinal versus Manchester City on Wednesday. Modrić received a 7.5/10 grade from RealChamps.com as “Modrić had a solid enough game. The Croatian handled the pace of the game well, and tried a lot of stuff in the offense. Wasn’t at his best, of course, but he didn’t need to be. Espanyol were never really in the game, so it was light work for the Magician. Had an involvement in the first goal, and was subbed off in the 60th minute, after a standing ovation from the Bernabeu.”
Lovro Majer scored twice Saturday in Stade Rennais’s 2-0 victory over Saint-Etienne. Majer recorded a 9.4 SofaScore match rating and was named “Man of the Match” for his brace. The first was a well-timed half volley from inside the box with pressure on him. The second came late in the 2nd half when the St. Etienne defender mistimed his tackle with the ball falling straight to Majer in the box. He’s heating up at just the right time as Rennes remains third place in France for a Champions League qualifying berth with three games remaining.
We have a Andrej Kramarić siting! Krama equalized in the 1st half for Hoffenheim from a tight angle in front of goal and then assisted on a short pass later in the 2nd half. Hoffenheim would blow a 2-1 2nd half lead to lose 4-3 to Freiburg on Saturday. The loss surely ends any contention of Hoffenheim booking a spot in any European competition next season. Nonetheless, it’s great to see Krama on the board with a goal and an assist with UEFA Nations League matches around the corner in June. Is Kramarić Croatia’s best option at striker right now?
Luka Sučić scores yet ANOTHER screamer Sunday night as RB Salzburg lift the OFB Cup. Just watch this beauty of a striker, putting Sučić up to 6 goals in his last 6 games.
Ante Budimir is once again found on the scoresheet in a 1-1 deadlock vs Elche. This man has been deadly lately, scoring 1 goal in each of his last 6 games for Osasuna.
Ivan Perišić, Marcelo Brozović and Inter Milan have a must-win game vs. Udinese Sunday 12PM (ET) if they want to keep the Serie A race alive
Joško Gvardiol and RB Leipzig play Monday night vs. Borussia Monchengladbach as they try to stay in the Bundesliga top-4
How do I start a “call me up for June,” page for one Ante Rebić ?
Let’s see him for these next 4 games in June. If he doesn’t produce then he is out.
But I like what I saw for AC Milan from him as they compete for the scudetto.
No one brings what he does.
Until things change for him in a big way, he’s done for me. Always hurt, questionable attitude and a bench player.
How would you line up with him?
He needs to be that press kind of make things happen guy
But will he humble himself and do that for the repka and also apologize for his attitude
I get it you can’t get the bull without the horns but it’s not like we will die without him
He needs to know no one is bigger then the team and of course ljepa nasa
No one?
What about Ivan Perišić?
F rebic he is a dumb ass who without Dalic would never have all the praise and transfer value he shitted on him. Tipical balkanac when everything fine ride the wave when its time for responsibility jebi mater drugome never blame or look at yourself.
I think sucic should be on 2022 wc team imo if no injuries. And i think simic if he gets promoted to rb salaburg during summer and does well and if musa goes to benfica and also has good start should be on team.
Its all on dalcic to put this team together but i feel he will go conservative way. I really like our team and people saying we are old beavuse idiot pundits just think croatia is modric hence old dumbasses.
Fix goalkeepers issue find a back 4 and stick with it. Sucic majer modric broz kova pasalic majer is a f in good midfield add jakic if vlasic wakes up moro rog ivanusec. So much potential.

Couple interesting stats in this
Sounds like luka 2.0 loves to blast them
Croatia’s team at World Cup France98 was impressive!
even more talented than the 2018 version….
Do you guys think the 2018 version with Modric? |l is the best generation
Clearly, this website is easily manipulating people here! | so delusional!
I always say 98 croatia team was better than 2018. Then you get argument 2018 went to finals while 98 was bronze. Also if the war didnt happen who knows how euro 92 wc 94 how croatia would have looked.
Its a good debate for me its
Ladic v Suba i its toss up ladic made more saves suba just penalties.×
Vrsaljko v Stanic. Stanic had great 98 out of position vrsaljko was good so i go tie
Lovren v Bilic/simic i go bilic simic any day
Vida Stimac i go stimac
Strinic Jarni jarni no brainer.
Modric Bodan go Modric
Rakitic Asanovic i go asanovic
Brozovic Prosinecki/Soldo go prosinecki soldo was underated dm imo
Perisic vlaovic i go perisic
Suker Mandzukic i go Suker.
Rebic v if boskic was healthy boka all day.
The Yugoslavia 1990 World Cup team (that lost to Argentina in penalty kicks in the quarterfinals) was essentially the Croatian National Team.
Out of the six republics, something like 10 or 11 players were Croats. Only two were Serbs (Stojkovic and Spasic).
True @maminjo but albeit a very young one. Those dudes like boban, prosinecki, jarni etc were 21-22 years old.
A 1994 Croatian team would have been fucking deadly in the WC in the US. Could have won it perhaps
Boban wasn’t on the team.
Apparently, he kicked a cop a few weeks prior. 😉
Majer is great player so smart reminds me of a thin version niko kranjcar. Imo 4 2 3 1 and get majer at ram perisic lam. Krama/pasalic at ss and budimir as cf. Dms modric broz i think we should score some gols with this attack. Add sosa gvardiol CC juranovic/vrsaljko at back keeper enigma your guess is good as mine.
I always said that Luka Ivanusec is the most similar to how Niko Kranjcar plays.
…and judging by his career suddenly going sideways, I guess he’s a little too much like Niko Kranjcar, ha ha.
(just kidding, I think Ivanusec will bounce back next year)
Sometimes credit needs to be given where credit is due.
This site was early on recognizing majer and bringing into question if he should be ahead of a guy like vlasic
Back when we had the interns doing soccer analytics to hone their skills, it would’ve flagged to us majer statistical influence
Beautiful x
i never put a lot of weight in terms of players hitting these goals from outside the box. in the end, they are mostly just flukey occurences.. how often can they really occur?
instead, i put much more weight on a player that is constantly getting into the right place in the box or a player that is constantly pressuring and bending the defense
What’s pretty impressive about Sucic’s last 6 goals is the fact that he’s found himself in good positions in the box for tap-ins yet also hit a good number of rockets as well. Sucic is definitely no stranger from an outside the box goal, so I’d say he’s got the skill for it rather than the luck (like Kova’s premier league goal of the month that he hit off the volley, in which case, we could say was definitely more lucky than it was skillful). Sucic has already hit 5-10 outside the box goals in his pro career.
Yea. Kovacic was backpedaling and kinda looked surprised when he scored it, lol.
He’s not really a finisher. Sucic looks like he has more potential at his peak for these kinds of things.
I know they are not in the same leagues
But both majer and sucic breathing down kovacics back
Majer is probably better suited to start alongside Modric and Brozovic than Kovacic.
Same goes for Sucic (when he eventually hits his prime). But Modric won’t be around when that happens.
Kovacic will be the direct replacement for Modric when he retires, as a deep lying midfielder.
I like the steps Kovacic has taken this past year, to overcome his pussy-ness when it comes to being offensive…but I think it comes more natural for a guy like Majer.
“Majer is probably better suited to start alongside Modric and Brozovic than Kovacic.”
Agreed, but only if for some reason we need to use 3 CMs. Modric and Brozo centrally are more than enough. We don’t have a possession problem we have a scoring problem. We need to play with 2 guys uptop, one striker (Budimir/Musa) and one CF/CAM (Kramaric/Pasalic/Majer).
It’s incredible to see what a shot sucic has as a teenager
Rakitic like but probably be even deadlier with it as he grows
Are you watching kova?
Musa bags another. Don’t know what it was like but was at the end of the match
https://vsports.pt/vsports/vod/golo-boavista-fc-musa-89-moreirense-fc-1-2-boavista-fc-76644
Very nice.
Musa is honestly looking real good.
He shows a lot of composure with these goals.
Takes the extra step or touch when needed, and puts it away. He’s been doing this all season.
He’s a top-10 scorer in the Portguese league, and that’s without inflating his numbers with penalty goals. He’s also played far fewer minutes than all other strikers in the league (since he was battling for time earlier in the season). Not surprised Benfica want him, and Boavista and Sparta are fighting over his contract buyout terms.
We need to call him up in June and have him and Budimir battle for time up top.
Club form doesnt mean players will do same on national team.
Its all on dalcic to put everything together.
Which i think he will fuck up unlike 2018 he still doesnt have a starting 11 and formation.
Its great everyone playing and scoring for club 80 perce t of dalcics call ups are having good season exect his favorites vlasic and petkovic.
Again club form never translated to good for national team since ive watched croatia since 1994.
LA knat is that you?
Of course miki
But I was just highlighting back in the day ziva istina would put wagers if a Croat will be able to score outside the box
We live in abundance right now
It’s up to dalic to put it all together and the boys to play with heart but we have most of the pieces
And I agree with pero. I think we would be ok with starting in June
However a few months can help shore up how the defence will line up and maybe enough time to establish the forward situation and most important a keeper
But seeing as there really isn’t a young keeper who will probably appear from no where, we just have to see how ivusic and grbic are doing for club
This June will tell a lot for our keepers
We have so many guys healthy&firing on all cylinders presently… what a shame the World Cup doesn’t start in June!
Might be a blessing.
Guys like Borna Sosa, Josko Gvardiol, Lovro Majer, Josip Juranovic, Luka Sucic, Petar Musa and Roko Simic have really hit their stride this year. None of these guys were really in the picture a year go, and look where they all are now. Giving them another half-year could benefit us greatly.
The additional six months also gives Sime Vrsaljko more time to play first team football and get back to where he was. If we can get 80% of what Vrsaljko was for us back in WC2018, that would be huge.
Our goalkeeper issue is a massive problem right now. Maybe something miraculous happens in six months (maybe Grbic or Ivusic or Kalinic can show us something)…but as of right now, Livakovic would likely be our #1 and would definitely botch a few goals for us if the tournament started next month.
The only risk is the decline in our veteran players…but both Perisic and Modric are fitness freaks and will continue to play at a high level. Brozovic, Krama, and Kovacic are in their prime and won’t be affected.
Veterans who will continue to decline are Lovren and Vida…which is a good thing, and will further justify moving forward with the younger backline.
Of course, injuries and form are a factor…but that can happen at any time to anyone (including during the tournament).
Man can we all just stop and really appreciate the amount of goals we have coming in now
We were competitive when all we had was a couple poacher type strikers
Now we have all sorts of guys that can score
If things align we will be dangerous this year
Sucic and Perisic with goals
https://www.goalstube.online/2022/05/udienese-inter-milan.html?m=m3
Another patented near post header. There isn’t a player in the world that does it better than Perisic. Quite frankly, it’s ridiculous.
That was nasty
I know no super Mario for headers is huge
But I think with CC Perisic and budimir in the box there is enough skill and height to bang one of those sosa corners in
Budimir set another record with Osasuna today. Besides being their most expensive player, he is also the first Osasuna player ever to score in six consecutive matches in Spain’s first division. Who knows what he could have done this year if he hadn’t missed ten matches earlier in the season!
who knows wut he could have done if dalic wasnt an idiot and didnt bench him the entire euros
Agreed… He played so well when he finally got a chance
Kramarić is our right wing, with Budimir as the center forward. The main reason Kramarić doesn’t score more for Hoffenheim now is that the manager has him playing as a midfielder to compensate for the team’s terrible defending. They have too many strikers and not enough possession holders, so Kramarić ends up having to be everywhere.
If krama is wing
Where do you find room for majer? I really want to see what this kid can do for us in June
“Kramarić is our right wing”
^^^Troll Alert^^^
I posted that in all seriousness. Majer should be playing as a midfielder as he does for Rennes. The 4-3-3 would have Brozovic as the defensive mid, then Modric and Majer in the pivot roles. Perisic and Kramaric on opposite sides of the attack because they combine very well when they are on opposite wings. We saw that against Slovakia in the last qualifying campaign, and before that in a match when Krama scored a goal off a Perisic assist and turned to give credit to Ivan before celebrating himself. Budimir has to be the central point man because he is one of the best such players in the game right now (still in all seriousness; no defender wants to deal with that guy). Kovacic can be a sub for Modric or Majer after we score goals, or he can play the days that they need rest. Croatia now has the squad depth of a serious contender, so the manager can start to bench players with impressive resumés. France and Spain have some top players coming off their benches, so there should be no shame in having Kovacic, Pasalic, Vrsaljko, Barisic, Orsic, etc. on the bench.
3 CMs especially against a team like canada/austria is overkill. kramaric is the slowest guy on the field, its idiotic to play him wide. we need an extremely fast player who has good stamina who can whip in crosses and is also willing to track back and help in defense, 31 year old kramaric who has knee problems/fitness issues every other game is NOT that player. Budimir uptop and kramaric behind him is the way to go. After 50 mins u sub out krama and put in majer to play attacking mid, later sub in pasalic for budimir.
2nd goal was a lucky bounce but still had to finish well
1st Goal super high quality
The big boys will be breaking out the wallets for majer very soon
Everyone is looking for the next LM;)
Nice goals by Lovro
Reminds me of a classy player we once had
The great zvone boban
How mych do we care about League of Nations for results vs establishing the ones we want to integrate now and even finding a couple pieces we think are still questionable
Like the other cb
Striker
Rw
Majer has to have a good run out in June
Kid is looking like he will be a stud
https://goals.zone/stade-rennais-saint-etienne-20220430?v=ufk0ia
Majer with 2 goals today. The first is really well struck. I haven’t seen the second as the link seems broken.
Modric: The flute player from Zadar
There have been few seasons where Real Madrid have danced to Luka Modric’s tune more than in 2021/22, as he has once again demonstrated his eternal youth.
Few players, if any, are capable of remaining at the top level of European football at the age of 36 and stand out as much as he has this season.
The Croatian has shone even more than he did in the 2017/18 season, which saw him win the Ballon d’Or.
Not only has Modric shown his sublime ability throughout the campaign, but his commitment is as strong as ever. He is an eternal idol for Real Madrid fans.
June should be “cap the diajspora nogometaši month!”
Qatar locks should not be called up at all.
Luka will win La Liga next year as well.
He hasn’t even been on veteran minutes limits.
He has played like he is 26.
I’d like to see him play his part with the new reinforcements at Real Madrid.
He has had his Real Modrić run.
Let him be Luka at Real Madrid for the next 1-2 years.
Anybody hear news on this prospect named “Arijon Ibrahimovic”? He is currently on the Bayern Munich development youth squad but citizenship says Germany & Kosovo. I’m just assuming he at least has Bosnian descent but no relation to Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The kid is only 16 but has lots of potential. He has 4 goals and 8 assists this season.
He’s not related.
I don’t think he’s part Bosnian Muslim either.
His name is also listed as Arijon Ibrahimi on Transfermarkt…which makes more sense since he’s an Albanian from Kosovo.
It might have been a Yugo thing where the “ić” was added to their family name…or they decided to change it in order to draw attention to himself as a footballer. I’m sure it worked.
Vidovic & Stanisic getting game time with Bayern 🔴⚪️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hopefully Dalic caps Vidovic soon before he gets capped by 🇩🇪
He better cap vidovic asap
He should now in june???
