Luka Modrić played 95 minutes and assisted (free kick) for his first Serie A win Friday night as AC Milan defeated Lecce 2-0. Modrić also assisted in the 1st half but the goal was disallowed by VAR for a foul leading up to the play. Modrić received a 7.5 MOTM rating from Sempre Milan: “You almost feel sorry for him at times, or at least I did in the first half. Milan didn’t have any confidence in the build-up then and the Croatian was the only one who played vertical passes. In the end, he got a very nice assist (two if you count Gabbia’s disallowed goal) and played an instrumental role overall. A few misplaced passes to note, but insignificant ones.”
Luka Vušković made the bench for Hamburg Friday night but remained an unused sub in a 2-0 loss to St. Pauli. He has been loaned out by Tottenham for the entire season.
Kristijan Jakić had a goal and an assist Saturday for Augsburg in a 3-2 loss to Bayern Munich.
Mario Pašalić scored in Atalanta’s 1-1 draw vs. Parma Saturday.
Lovro Majer assisted in Wolfsburg’s 1-1 draw vs. Mainz.
Newest reports say that Juranovic is out (yet again typical garbage luck with his injuries there) and in comes Ivan Smolcic from Como for the NT. I first assumed that this move was done to offload Stanisic for the right-back role or to put Stani at LB and Smolcic at RB, until I read and found out about JJ out yet again and stuff.
Still, I’d like to see Stanisic at LB and Smolcic at RB against Faroe Islands, even if that won’t happen and Faroe Islands are tough to play against them, esp. at their home soil and all that.
Added to say that Stanisic could do LB and one of Jakic or Smolcic can do RB instead of it likely being Sosa at LB and Stanisic at RB, but I fear Dalic will play it too safe and go for the latter option there.
Petkovic 2 games 2 goals. Crucial equaliser last night. He can provide cruical goals or win fouls at critical stages.
Majer assist. But he is player we need to adapt to his style of play for him to perform. Unlike perisic who can adapt in wadever formation and position.
Pasalic one assist one goal in last 2 games
Jakic: one goal and assist against bayern..bayern website mentioned he is good at breaking up plays, intercepting balls as well, good at playing against stronger oppositions
Maybe can consider stanisic at LB and juranovic at RB..sosa and bradaric can be back up.
More worried abt orsic..his sub jaja has performed much better when subbing in. Not sure if we can see old orsic back.
A nice assist by Majer in that first half. He got the ball, broke down the middle of the field with good speed and hit the Wolfsburg player breaking down the left wing with a good pass. He seemed to be all over the field, in the middle of everything, and the commentators noted that. He made one other great pass but the Wolfsburg player couldn’t finish. If he can stay injury free and have a good season, I think he can be a real impact player for us at World Cup. Generally, an underrated player, maybe very underrated.
Watched Sutalo play yesterday. Only watched the game from the point he came on at the 61st minute. Class. Great passer, anticipates passes well and breaks up plays. Acceleration/speed is excellent. Looks like he is back on track after a minor injury.
Real Sociedad v Real Oviedo: Luka Sucic managed to see the field as a substitute, but only played 12 minutes plus extra time.
The surprise came from Josip Brekalo, who was substituted on for the Real Oviedo side. I had no idea he was playing in La Liga.
At Serie A, I thought Smolcic played alright for Como today. The guy can really throw the ball in a long way, it is almost like giving his team a corner kick. Baturina did not have many touches of the ball during his limited time on the field.
Did anyone see how Covic played for Bremen?
Looking forward to Sucic and Inter tomorrow.
Here comes Baturina.
Jakic scores against Bayern.
No surprise
Lazy bench-warmer Bati on the bench again
Lazy is as lazy does
Also, no surprise
Luka Sucic bench
Ever since Sucic said Real Sociedad is a stepping stone for the next club he’s going too the fans have been booing him every time he touches the ball.
He’s new to the team, just like Alvaro Morata who is riding the pine with him.
Como is more stacked than I thought.
Two young and highly rated Spaniards are starting in his two favored positions. The other deeper role is covered by some French dude, but he’s the team captain (so that’s a challenge on its own).
Just watching Leeds United, and they have some random Bugar playing in the #10 role. Baturina probably would have immediately started for Leeds, but I don’t think Leeds and the EPL is a better place for him longer term anyway.
Sutalo not starting but on the bench for Ajax game this morning. Probably relates to the fact he is coming off that injury.
He was substituted late last game, probably will get some playing time in during the second half.
Covic started for Bremen.
That’s pretty big news.
If Čović and Vušković manage to get regular minutes, then we’ll have the two youngest players in the Bundesliga.
As mentioned before, what a disaster this Milan move is for the nt. These guys are going to work this 40 year old . 95 minutes. And with his mentality, he’ll be out to prove things. He’s going to show up to World Cup in a wheel chair
also Jashari just got injured
Fair point, but where would he have transfered to still play top flight in preparation for the world cup? I think the move isn’t terrible all in all, if he wasn’t playing at all than that would also make him rusty.
I think that the sad part is, all the players are not playing up to his standards, like you say. So maybe some key transfers were needed to fill other gaps.
Whatever happened to Giroud is he still on AC Milan?
Nevermind, I just realized he is with Chelsea. I didn’t realize that transfer happened a while back.
