If you purchased Dinamo, you would be left with nothing. Remember, mamic and his agency own most of the players.
If I were ritch I woud buy Dinamo….how much do you think it would cost ?
I think its time to draw a line under this Rukavina affair. We're gonna have to live with him. I don't believe he is a turncoat. He seems like he'll just go to whoever is the highest bidder. I don't think he is fan of Dinamo or Hajduk. I think he wanted to stay at Pana, but obviously that wage and compensation was too high to refuse.
It will make us better for HNL1 as we were under threat there whilst Dodo was starting matches. Europe… meh.. not too fussed about Europe this year. One good thing about his arrival is it puts an end to the hideous foriegn signings we could have made.
I think we still need a centre back. I know we recieved a lot of money for Mandzo and Lovren, but i don't believe we have any money left to buy many more players. With Biscan, Cufre and Simic's lack of pace we could get ripped in defence. Barbaric is a distinctly average player. Mesaric is a tryer so is okay for defensive cover. We could do with a really good centre back under 25 years of age preferably. Kristjan Ipsa and Renato Kelic will serve us well for a long time if we brought them in. At present there is no stand out centre back left in Croatian league.
And what's truly sad and pathetic is that despite the Sapina bro's being involved in the German match fixing scandal, they're still at it. Wouldn't the German and Croatian police plus Interpol be watching their every move since that happened? It's hard to believe that they'd be so brazen to continue doing it right away. Obviously, they thought they had the right pockets lined in Croatia. Maybe they didn't pay enough.
3 million for a player with only one good season 3 or 4 years ago is ridiculous, especially since no one else was bidding for him. At best, they should have taken him on loan- if Pana didn't like that idea, just ask them how'd they'd like paying Rukavina's wages while he's sitting on the bench/in the reserves. That way, If he flops, Dinamo aren't stuck with the player.
…or in Croatia for that matter.
You're right about Canjuga and Dinamo/CroatiaZG. Add in Franjo's role and it makes sense. At least they didn't push foreign players in like Mamic.
I wonder how Mamic is allowed to run Dinamo (I know his 'title') in lieu of having his own agency. Is that not an overwhelming conflict of interest? Barisic is sketchy despite his impressive resume during the old jugo days running Croatia Osiguranje.
Mamic leaving or being forced out of Dinamo would hurt the club in the short term. Remember, he has his agency and many of the dinamo players that are under contract belong to him.
Canjuga got results for Dinamo, granted it was helped by HDZ dollars flowing into the club and Dinamo/Croatia ZG having sweetheart endorsement deals with state-run firms.
In a nut shell, nothing is operated normally in Croatian sports.
I assumed that everybody followed suit after Eduardo left. Do you remember when they beat Ajax back in 2007 and there were talks about keeping the team together for one more year and originally adding Kovac to the mix? I think that was the point where the massive selling began. As far as I remember, Dudu wanted to stay one more year at Dinamo before being sold to Arsenal. After that Modric, Corluka, Vukojevic and co. all bounced.
I thought Canjuga was bad, Mamic is worse. Who do you think would be a replacement for Mamic? I don't think anybody exists right now sadly.
@ Ante B…….I agree with everything you just posted except blaming Mamic for the departures of Dudu, Modric, Corluka, Pokrivac, Vukojevic, etc and not having a world class team.
I'm no fan of Mamic, but you just cant keep those guys once they reach a certain level and want to leave.
Corluka basically quit on the team and forced Mamic to sell him because he knew Man City wanted him. Mamic had every intention of keeping him for one more year, but Corluka and his dad orchestrated the move to England. Dinamo or any other club will never be able to put together consecutive season of european success. The modern game dictates that players leave for higer salaries and/or better leagues.
Unless Hajduk or Dinamo can find owners that are wealthy, not just rich, but wealthy, there is no chance of consistent european success.
Re Ante BBB
Ante, i was very very very freaked out by ending up with Vennegor of Hesselink or Papadopoulos's sub. This might explain why i'd accept Rukavina. Plus i don't have the energy to give to this. I really do not expect more than Europa Liga group qualification and then elimination at that stage from Dinamo at the moment.
If Kramaric, Ademi, Tomecak develop and Morales stays then i'll be roughly contented. Rukavina's goal versus starts ratio in Greece is okay. In HNL1 i personally think we do need help as Dodo is SHITE. Nothing against him as a person but what'd he do to get that transfer. Yes we could have took a chance on Kramaric, but Velimir Zajec wanted this. It wasn't all Mamic's decision. Zajec is just as responsible.
Mamic wasn't even looking at the guys i wanted at Dinamo. Andrej Keric could have been bought for under 1m Euro and sold for lots and become a Croatia international whilst in Dinamo. I hope Keric still gets the move to a strong team, but i'm disappointed he's not come through Dinamo.
RE: Dennis
its the fee which is really stupid. 3m Euro's is stupid money for a Panathanaikos sub. We forced him to come with a deal which wasn't even true to his value. As a player though he'll help us in HNL1. Beyond that he'll do same as Mandzo. Europa liga group stage and no further.
I still put my faith in Pedro. That strike at weekend was rock solid. I'm hoping eventually we'll be talking about Morales, Ademi, Kramaric and Badelj as our leaders and that everything will not depend on Rukavina.
I think theyll be able to sell him at better value a year or two down the road. Im the only one who thinks he will do good! My ass is on the line! hahah!
Dinamo fans will give Rukavina a chance?!?! U ime Oca i Sina…
Dinamofan, did you actually write I have to learn 'to go with these decisions'? Are you serious? Come on, you're better than that. It is an awful move.
Let's look at this objectively–
Rukavina was yesterday's erection in the HNL when he was doing great with Sibenik. He went to Hajduk and did absolutely nothing there. The only positive thing about him is his speed. He then went to Pana and did shit there too. How do I know? Because the guy is going back to HNL. He will probably do something in the Prva Liga but Dinamo doesn't need help there; we need help in Europe and signing Rukavina is not the way to go. Awful, awful move by Zdravko Mamic. His awful decision making has cost of a world class team thus far (Dudu, Modric, Corluka, Pokrivac, Vukojevic, etc.).
On a subjective note, you are all already aware that what I think about any player who goes from Hajduk to Dinamo (and vice versa); you don't do that. Examples? Look at Jelicic, Hrgovic, Kranjcar, Bosnjak, etc. Traitors and turncoats. No respect from me. If you're plavi, stay plavi. If you're bili, stay bili. Svaka cast Pletikosu!
I wonder how the BBB will react.
I'd agree with the last line totally. Gross overpayment of a player who was a sub. But we could have ended up with far worse.
Also i think after months of watching Dodo, Dinamo fans will give Rukavina a chance. His technical ability is not a problem as Morales and Sammir have that in abundance. Slepicka is also technically good. All he needs to do is play on the last defender and put away his chances and Morales, Badelj and Sammir will find him.
I don't like the fee or wage we are paying but its typical Mamic. Plus Velimir Zajec wanted him. We won't make a profit on him as we paid for him at the top of his value.
Keric, Bodul, Vrucina any of them would have done me and we would have still had enough to get a centre back. Now we're out of pocket.
The reason they signed Rukavina is because Mamic feels he will be able to sell him for a profit down the road.
Boy, is he in for a let down. Then again, he might score goals in the HNL and set himself up for a move. Either way, this kid is GARBAGE.
You guys on this website all know I am a Hajduk guy, but I think I call it and see it fair. Rukavina did nothing at Hajduk. He is a fast player and that is it. He has no technical ability. Just wait and see how many balls he will lose with his poor first touch.
If this is what Dinamo is counting on for help in European matches, then they are in trouble. The kid already has serious cnfidence issues. It will be interesting to see how he handles getting booed by the Dinamo crowd after a few bad games.
If you are a Dinamo fan you should be shaking your head at this move. They bid against themselves to get him.
Re: Ante B
You got to learn to go with these decisions.
Rukavina or Mantzios or 28 year old Sato or the unproven montenegrin guy. which is worst?
Rukavina is bloody expensive. I couldn't care less about his Hajduk connections but he's obviously here for the ridiculous wage and Pana sold him cos of the over the top transfer fee.
with consideration to the others we were close to signing i'd accept Rukavina.
Pointless spending time getting worked up about Ante Rukavina.
All my preferred targets went – Andrej Keric, Daniel Cesarec and Sasa Bjelanovic. My next preferred was Darko Bodul or Bojan Vrucina. I'd definitely preferred Vrucina for 500,000 euro transfer fee and little wage then this gross overpayment but what can you do.
Just imagine if we bidded on Keric. It would have cost us far less and we'd have got a better player. also it liberec would have snapped our hand off for even 1m Euro… Also would Keric have asked for 700,000 Euro's – i doubt it
The good thing about this is that he is better than Dodo and Sivonjic. though i'm happy for sivonjic to stay as a sub. Also its good we signed a croatian as otherwise over 50% of the team would have been foriegn and that is not positive or neccessary.
I think Rukavina's pace could work well alongside Morales and Slepicka's technique. Morales and Sammir will play him in. It'll be upto Rukavina to take the chances he is provided.
Our team should therefore be from now on till Tomecak gets well again
Butina, Vrsaljko, Ibanez, Mesaric, Cufre; Calello, Badelj, Sammir; Morales, Slepicka, Rukavina
seems neat enough to me for HNL1 title.
Subs: Sivonjic, Kramaric, Chago, Biscan, Barbaric, Simic, Etto, Ademi, Antolic, Loncaric.
We could still do with a centre back. Simic seems a bit redundant. Cufre could be transferred. I think we should sign Renato Kelic personally or Kristjan Ipsa but they both command fees and we spent a lot on Ruki now. Dino Drpic is the only defensive free agent but we all know he has history.
Jesus H Christ…
Rukavina to Dinamo?
Worst. Move. Ever. Good signing? Ma, my sweet dick.
Zdravko Mamic, GET OUT OF DINAMO! Your job of ruining it is becoming crystal, if it hasn't already.
Rukavina will be a good signing for Dinamo! Im happy! He will score as much of more then Mandzukic!
Welp as i said Rukavina is expensive. 3m Euro's and 700,000 Euro's a year is rumoured to be the agreement. We really gave him no choice but to come.
Consider we was after Papadopoulos's sub, a 28 year old from Japan and a Montenegrin guy who Nony wants to kill then maybe Ruki was the best option.
Mamic doesn't know how to make signings so Ruki will have to do.
If Dinamo signs Rukavina, that would be the biggest mistake they can make this season. He SUCKS.
@ Ante B……..info on the Sapina brothers…..The Sapina brothers are part of a group that has bribed players, coaches, referees in matches around Europe. There are 3 Sapina brothers, with the main person being Ante. They are from the Livno area but have lived in Germany. Ante was convicted of fraud about 5 years ago and sentenced to 3 years in prison for match fixing. His two brothers, Milan and Filip (I think) were given suspended sentences.
Last year, Ante and Milan were arrested with a few others in Germany on match fixing charges of Bundesliga matches (second division and lower). Their arrests led to more arrests throughout Europe and info came in on matches being fixed across Europe. This now leads to the rumors of Zoran Mamic and the Cro Cup final in 2009.
This all needs to play out so the public can find out what has taken place.
This is no surprise to me. Every time I have been in Croatia during the HNL season, it common knowledge that some of the matches have been fixed. There has been no will to act on it. Seems like the Germans are acting on it and drawing in the croatian police to investigate.
I heard that Rukavina is signing with Dinamo today?! Is this true ?
think i said liga 16 was fine as a one off and last season the whole league was tight to prove no drop in quality. tell me how its good for a league when its always one up and one down and your future is never under threat 🙂 that sure improves quality doesn't it. In such a scenario you can give away results..
i must admit i didn't want Zagreb to go down last season and Medimurje and Sesvete have since embarrassed themselves. This season i think RNK Split are fine, but Dragovoljac shouldn't be there and Istra and Zapresic have not put the work in during pre season. Istra have a wealthy owner but he's never seen in Croatia. With that in mind yes a reduction of the league is neccessary. With respect to Lokomotiva, Karlovac though they deserve to be there and have benefitted from liga 16.
With Bodul. Bodul V Simunac. Both got in through doing little so no big deal if Bodul is in.
Ziva,
Could you share please share some insight on the Sapina brothers? I'm sure the majority of people here know little or next to nothing about those guys.
Well the cro league and its garbage play is back in season. Lets see, the two top teams won with a combined 10-2 score, and some people want to still argue the 16-team league was a good idea.
Bodul…..has done noting in well over a year, nothing. all hype to me. Does not deserve a place on the youth squad. He wont be the first or the last player like that.
and now rumbling of Zoran Mamic being involved with the Sapina brothers in fixing matches in croatia. this should get interesting.
Bodul spent last season on loan at Sparta Rotterdam but barely scored a goal and they were relegated. Bodul is still developing, that's why i thought a season at Dinamo might do him good. He's not in Martin Jol's plan. Not sure where he's off to next. Bodul could do with being Nikica Jelavic's replacement at Rapid Vienna i think. Bodul has played with Croatia Under 21's but lost his place. I think he still deserves a place, but you know what HNS are like. They prob don't want to pay his travel tickets.
I reckon Jelavic is due a move. He shouldn't stay in Austria any longer than neccessary. He should hanker for a switch to Bundesliga.
does anyone know anything about Darko Bodul?
He plays for Ajax but isnt even on the u-21 team.
Great win for Hajduk. Nice goals in the Dinamo game. I think Mesaric looks like a good signing. Seems some room for improvement though. Need a striker still to play with Slepicka and Morales. Sivonjic to bench. Dodo OUT!
i think Vranjes will sign with Hajduk this week. Knezevic and Pletikosa also due to make a decision this week.
Anyone know anything about Andrej Keric's deal with Konjaspor. Says he agreed a deal with them but scored for Liberec today. He must have signed a pre-contract for next season as is out of contract next summer unless it was a deal that broke down. If the deals broke down then we should be in for him.
