Captain Miranda Tatari (#2) fought back tears as she saluted the fans with her teammates
- Croatia exited the Women’s handball tournament after losing 25-22 to Spain as they failed to deal with injuries and Spain’s defense. The game was fairly equal through the first 40 minutes with Spain defending very well, as Croatia relied on captain Miranda Tatari and Andrea Penezić to score and create goals. Tatari went down with a knee injury late in the first half but was able to reenter the game after a short rest. Penezić, undeniably the star of the Croatian team, sprained her ankle and was in agonizing pain and was unable to come back on. She made one attempt but couldn’t put enough weight on her leg. Croatia were up two at the time and went cold for the rest of the game. Losing by only three covers the fact that Spain were the much better team without Penezić. Croatia’s wing play was also very disappointing and Dijana Jovetić and Maja Zebić only scored four goals, two from penalties. Tatari led the team with five goals. Croatia will leave London with their heads high, having finished second in their group and made the quarterfinals in their first Olympic appearance. If they can continue to play like they have the past two weeks in the Copper Box, expect to see them contending for medals in Rio de Janeiro.
“The Penezic injury was certainly a decisive factor, we simply didn’t have an equal substitute for her and our game was in disarray.” –Vladimir Canjuga
“We didn’t play very well, neither defence or shooting the ball, It is disappointing.” –Kristina Franić
“We made it one step, we wanted to go to the semi-finals” –Miranda Tatari
- Sailing: Šime Fantela and Igor Marenić finished in 2nd in race 9 of the 470, putting them less than ten points behind third, but then finished in a disastrous 22nd in the tenth race to move them back to 8th and 28 points out of the medals. They will compete in the medal race on Thursday and their highest possible finish is 5th overall. Enia Ninčević and Romana Župan are in 15th in the Women’s 470 with two races left.
@This GUY
No, its like watching a Jerry’s kid. You just have to smile and nod your head.
I just heard a US woman boxer interviewed. Her grammar/ebonics was worse than most immigrants.
He interview was concluded after she gave a shout out to her brother in prison. The NBC commentators were raving how lovable she is. Am I the last sane person in America?
Bravo on both the waterpolo and handball game!
PS- Wow, we actually had someone in Taekwondo?
Bravo Hvratska! While Tunesia was playing rough, Croatia remained calm and did what they had to do. They knew Tunesia couldn’t keep playing on their physical way and that they would fall back. Great job!
I saw that our waterpolo team beat the USA. They’re coming close to a medal.
Lucija Zaninovic won a bronze medal. I’m proud she’s croatian.
Our fourth medal so far. With a bit of luck, we will end with with six medal. That’s great for small county as Croatia.
We never really played well against African teams.
Tunisia is playing hard. One of their guys had a dirty play and he was red carded. Other than that they are playing very well
Only way they can compete against Cro is to slow down the game with fouls. And they are doing that to perfection right now. Sometimes upsets happen. Look at what took place to Iceland today; that was the other 1 v. 4 matchup and they went out.
Still, the homerish calls from the Cro announcer are laughable. This could get really interesting in the 2nd half.
From what i hear, Tunisia is playing DIRTY
Anyone watching the handball game on the croatian feed…..
22 minutes and Tunisia is giving us a very tough time, but listening to the Croatian announcer is classic. He is crying and making escuses for Cro, blaming the refs for our poor play so far. This is comical……the longer this stays close and our guys tighten up and choke, the better this will be to listen.
Zaninovic wins a very, very close fight
does the app have commentary? the website doesnt
The NBC website is terrible. The app they have is much better; HD quality. Use that, takes only a few minutes to register.
hmm, I watch the Olympics on the BBC website but you need a proxy. I dont see any streams online. I’d check here at gametime: http://www.thefirstrow.eu/watch/134495/1/watch-olympic-:-croatia-vs-tunisia,-mens.html<
The water polo match is on NBC on TV right now.
yeah i am but it keeps asking for my user name and password from my cable provider
You can watch on nbcolympics.com if you are from the U.S. Are you?
just to confirm handball is at 430 eastern and does anyone have a link or stream
no doubt hajduk will get a full report before the game, cant even get anything for Dinamo on here. Shame
this game looks done, croatia over usa looks close to done also. 5-0 so far lol
and thats game over, Dinamo will play in Europe
They’ll be a recap, ridiculous goal for Vida, Beciraq misses yet another 1v1. Croatia looking good against the US. NBC is taking commercial breaks in the middle of the game
Damn Team CSR, no Dinamo post for their game vs. Sherrif?
1-0 on a flukey goal from Vida, 25 minutes in, for those that were wondering.
Lucija Zaninovic in bronze medal fight around 4:30 EST
Damn, the serbs woke up and destroyed Australia in the second half and showed why they are the favorites in water polo.
Australia up 7-4 at halftime against Serbia (Ranked #1 in the world). We beat them 11-6
Veljko Rogosic
Hvala za uspomene i pocivao u miru………………………
Bravo cure!!! It was an excellent comeback from the Brazil loss, and you’ve advanced quite well!

Water polo’s live on NBC, handball not on American television
1) Congrats to the women’s handball team for their hard effort, as they certainly overachieved.
2) @Ante
a) Croatia/USA waterpolo quarterfinal game is at 3:00 p.m. EST (Wednesday)
b) Croatia/Tunisia mens handball quarterfinal game is at 4:30 p.m. EST (Wednesday)
Zach,
I think a good idea would be to start adding times for the events. Do any of you know what time the waterpolo and handball games are on tomorrow? PST? eastern?
