Probably not. But it’s still fun to think we can get out of this crappy World Cup they placed in Qatar. The Daily Mail has reported that former FIFA President Sepp Blatter has suggested the 2022 World Cup could be moved to the United States amidst corruption charges in the vote to have the tournament hosted in Qatar.
Pretty ironic that the guy who is currently on a 6-year ban from FIFA for ethics violations is reporting on this, huh? I mean, he was in charge when Qatar was named host. Few countries could pull together a tournament of this magnitude on short notice: United States, England, Germany, France, Japan; to name a few. Sh** would really have to hit the fan for this to happen but it’ll be fun to see if Blatter uses any inside information on FIFA to “out” certain individuals who may have made his life more difficult years ago.
Chances it moves to the States: 15%.
The 2022 World Cup is scheduled to begin November 21st in Qatar.
@ Poglavnik – fully agreed …Beer league shit ahaha ..most including Modric pounding the Ernst happel stadion field after the miss knowing he blew a golden chance as someone in the druga liga woulda buried that no problem -my cousin who played for hrvatski dragovoljac woulda buried that lol shoulda scored that hands down no doubt about it especially after being able to do this …
https://youtu.be/A-8ezI-R3Js
definitely his best goal and prolly furthest out he ever scored one-had some luck on his side I’m sure and we all know he doesn’t produce those types of goals- he’s right place right time 6 yard box Olic and not the most important goal he scored as those are reserved for performances put forth for the Repka.
I see what you mean about mornar leaning off balance when watched a few more times but from that range there’s really no excuse – it was a tad more difficult then our first thoughts/opinions but still no excuse – you can’t miss from that range playing for the national team in a moment like that- perhaps the adrenaline got to him as it’s happened before with bigger stars but he’s a professional and that was house league/beer league as you put it lol material finishing like that or lack there of …
This serie A miss is the worse ….lol
https://vine.co/v/OMI0EgTqdd6
@beetlejuice- I don’t remember that kranjcar miss and not to dredge up bad memories but If you have it please post it as Im just curious how bad it was …(if you posted the mornar one for me and could find this one surely it can’t be much worse lol or could it?!) i was in the fan zone there but half wasted and couldn’t remember that play – I was a fan of niko as a time we had no one really willing to take the shot on from distance besides him ..he had a great shot on him /control and passes /crosses were good but his agility and pace was terrible as we all Know and I’m not surprised if he missed this header you speak of cause I don’t think he ever scored a header – everyone remember when his papa was in charge 06- against Japan before the srna missed pk he rang the crossbar from 25 yards out – jap keeper beaten like a deer in headlights – luck and a game of inches at times as we know – if he scored that we woulda went through- still bad mistake nepotism of zlatko choosing his son over Modric although Luka was young still no excuse he coulda added an extra element – I seen luka play around that time in Toronto (I believe a year earlier) playing friendly dinamo against prso’s rangers and he let a few screamers fly. stood out apart from eveyone at young age
Olic’s attempt looked like some beer league shit. Tried stabbing it with the outside of his favourite foot rather than side footing it with his left. Looks like it comes off his right shin.
Olic’s miss was an attempt that strikers pull off a dozen times a week in training. Hes probably put a thousand balls in the net like that in his life.
Mornars attempt was harder to pull off. The momentum from turning that guy with one touch and then using your other foot to shoot is not as easy as it looks. Hes leaning back and off balance from turning that dude that’s why he skies it. If he wasn’t so off balance he couldve side footed it low just about anywhere.

“Olić missing against Turkey was the worst though. That tournament was ours. We would have been in the Final, and could have won that tournament.”
Maminjo, would like to start by saying that I am a big fan of your posts on this site. 🙂
Mornar’s miss was by far the worst when compared, it defies all logic, there is no question, and we still should have beat the Turks regardless of the Olic miss as we played way to apprehensively in that game because we had quite a few players sitting on cards and they were scared of missing the next game. (I don’t agree to take that approach, but it showed in our play that game.)
Also, people seem to forget that after Olic hits the post, Niko Kranjčar had a wide-open net with nobody around him and his header went into the stratosphere. (I would post it, but I really don’t feel like watching it again.)
If anyone is to blame for the last loss, it is Bilic for jumping on the field after Klasnic scored, it was more of a negative impact when compared. As soon as I saw Bilic on the field, I had a really bad feeling.
Also, there was no guarantee at all that we would have beaten the Germans in the semi-final game. Not impossible that is for sure, but not a 100% guarantee either.
Marko
It is truly unexplainable how Mornar does not score against France in that situation.
@beetle juice- thanks ! It’s painful to watch but unbelievable still how he missed that- like Beckham or baggio pk he sent that to the moon
https://youtu.be/_FBQetJqAwk
@maminjo- always excellent insight and agree 100% …although I think and this is just my opinion – if we had du du that tourney it was ours hands down no doubt about it ! We lacked the clinical finishing up top when he went down as olic is 6 yard box right place right time like a ruud van nistelrooy or pipo inzaghi but he managed to ring the bar after a sublime pass from Luka prolly 6 yards out in that Turkey game – we still coulda won the tourney though as you said even though our depth then is nothing like now- we rag on bilic a lot but he brought a stability and could possibly be the 3rd best coach we had for the Repka in my opinion after ciro and Dalic – sure he made some errors but he kept games close always minus the 4-1 England loss for WC2010 qualifying – alot of cros are not fans of kranjcar and I understand but minus his agility and speed he was great on the ball and what a rocket of shot he had like jerko leko lol …or to compare to chirpers – Stevie G- I see your point on the rakitic header but disagree as I think he just chose wrong in his direction – shoulda put it down as we all know – but I see your point as he’s made his living and spent majority to all his career in la liga – that euro 2012 team was great though – I think even better then 08 as we had a tad more depth- I left Vienna after the quarter final loss as I was staying in a heavily prominent Turkish populated district and already rubbed there rubarb after that game when the scrap broke out – dropped a few of em like 3rd period French but I didn’t initiate- they did and they felt the wrath of many hrvati that day.
Mornar’s miss was an incredible feat, when you consider his attempt seemed to defy the laws of physics.
However, if he scored, it wouldn’t have changed the outcome. We still finish third and do not progress (we had a mediocre team and an out-of-touch coach that year).
Krpan’s miss against Romania was very bad, but not impactful…same as Vida’s header against Belgium.
Rakitić’s miss at Euro 2012 was bad consider it would have put us through (and we had a great team that year). It could have been a memorable run.
A part of Rakitić wanted to miss that header.
He’s not the type of player to miss like that. Inside, he didn’t want to be the one to end Spain… And it’s likely the reason why it was such a weak attempt.
Olić missing against Turkey was the worst though. That tournament was ours. We would have been in the Final, and could have won that tournament.
Ivica Mornar miss against France Euro 2004
https://tinyurl.com/y7mt3vej
Speaking of the mornar miss at dying moments of the France game euro 2004- if anyone can find a video of it (can’t find one ) can you please post it – I tried but it seems Ivica has went to great lengths to wipe it out lol so no one can see it – it’s been years since I seen it but my brother doesn’t believe me how close he was lol and I remember vividly but a refresher would definitely help if anyone can locate it ! – if he bagged that he woulda got signed to a big club lol instead worst miss in Croatian history hands down- we woulda beat the frogs and through to the knockout stages with a sub par team that was in its rebuilding stages with some decent players but alot of journeyman / no real x factor from 2002- 2006 was our rebuilding years from the 98 generation. 2006 was slightly better team but still developing- we couldn’t produce/create/score goals in the major tourneys from 2002-2006 (we scored a few but shitty/lucky ones – minus rapaic vs
Italy 02 and Prso almost taking barthez head off against France 04 after desailly drunk lookin lunge in on him Prso turned on him like bergkamp 98 against Argentina – definitely not as pretty but fooled him good
Guys what’s the deal with Leon kreković? Is he supposed to be a rising star ? Haven’t heard much about him. Olic miss vs Turkey coulda been one of the worse – was outside the stadium and kicked the table over as I knew that was golden opportunity against those dirty Turks – Eduardo woulda destroyed them if that dirty chirper from Birmingham didn’t break his leg – I’d say that’s the 2nd worse other then mornar 6 inches from goal at euro 2004 has to go down as worst miss ever – as i said before my baba from her coffin woulda slotted that in
Yeah the Olic Turkey miss has to be the worst of all time for us surely.. can’t think of anything worse than that, nothing glaring at me like the open goal was for Ivica lmao
I read that dado Prso kid Lorenzo Prso is a prospect and the talk he’s already ahead of his old man in terms of technical ability
But the question is can his this kid turn a game in a moment and smack in goals like his old man did
Was rewatching Croatia v Portugal euro 16 and fuck did vida miss a couple of sitters right in front of goals with his headers
I would start a poll on the worst sitters croatia had missed
My vote would go to Olic missed one v turkey but I am most would go to mornars miss v France but the worst one could be raketa one against Spain because he had time to place it either side of casillas
Oh what could have beens.
Croatian took the land they are living on from other white people, so that’s okay. But whites taking land from non-whites must result in the end of the white race.
02-06 period was because of the war.
Not many 13 year old kids were venturing onto the football fields in the early 90s.
To blame Suba is like to blame baggie for the 94 loss it was time for players to step up which really didn’t happen and an injured Suba played then that’s on dalic because there’s no way a player would give up playing a final especially if he was critical in getting the team there anyway just like baggio
Broz is only in this role because of Rakitic being pushed up further in the pitch which was deemed to be a success after the Kovacic tenure
Even euro 16 was seen as a step forward even under cacic
However further improvements would be made if Raketa stepped aside for Broz to play further up the field as I believe he would be more creative than Ivan
Anyway Ivan’s mind is elsewhere and it’s not on croatia
This would be a new cdm to come in like Ante Palaversa or Nikola Moro or sunjic I fear its sunjic based on the thinking of the hns brains trust
Anyway the future is bright in respect to the goalkeeper and the more defensive roles because he have always had creative midfielders and attacking players with the exception of the 02 – 06 period which I put down to having rubbish coaches
We dominated that game though.
France was in panic mode the entire first half and didn’t even get a shot on goal (yet were awarded two goals).
Things got a bit better for them when Nonzi was subbed in, but they didn’t really do anything.
Their two goals were largely the fault of Subašić, and Lovren/Vida maybe could’ve defended better, but these were cheesy bouncing shots from distance.
The fact that all France could manage was a dive (rewarded with a free kick own goal), then a penalty, then two bouncing shots from distance (that were only goals because of the injured hamstring of Subašić) is pretty damn good.
Our entire midfield controlled possession well and had multiple runs on goal (resulting in a beautiful Perišić goal).
Unfortunately, The referee (and Pussy Riot) did a good job of interrupting all our runs.
Unfortunately I have to agree that Broz is not the best cdm in the world
In my view Broz was part of the reason why we lost the final although I will give him the benefit of the doubt because the cards were so stacked against him as we all know what had transpired
Nevertheless the French were tactically prepared and knew that Broz in the cdm role was a chance to exploit us
But I also know that vida and Lovren were shit on that day too and Luka was quiet but hey we did well to get there in the place
Hopefully moving forward Broz would have learnt valuable lessons in forward which appears to be the case in the way he is playing for inter but say he’s the best just not sold just yet
Does anyone know a site where we could stream full Croatia world cup 2018 matches? Having a tough time finding anything on youtube lately.
Marcelo bozo vic has his moments and has served his purpose in Croatia
Best cdm in the world though? Not a chance
The guy runs more than anyone but largely cause He’s a chicken with his head cut off. Even his coach suggests substitution movement quality for quantity
Bozovic continues to lack offensive creativity and ignition.
Man I hope to see luka and Broz and whoever else next year
Never give up on a Croat
I remember people saying before Broz was just a guy who can run
Now he is Maturing and the big boys are all calling
Good for him
@ Poglavnik
Exactly!
Liverpool were exposed against Athletico Madrid.
Their team is a donut hole.
When you squeeze them on the periphery, they get real predictable quickly.
Brozovic does that simple redirect with the ball and the field shifts. Not to mention to how he protects the back line. Which would be a much easier job with Van Dijk and then Alison right behind you.
Liverpool maybe too arrogant to realize how important Brozovic could be but Klopp in his heart of hearts knows.
Brozovic runs all day for Conti right now.
Liverpool has every one running.
So I don’t see much difference.
Tell you what, Liverpool make this happen, it will be a Real Madrid type move when Luka “Ballon Dor” Modrić was purchased.
I like him in Italy too but Liverpool’s weakest players are their CM’s. He’d slit in nicely. I dont care what the Jordan Henderson for player of the year people say.
Brozo is the best CDM in the entire world.
He has entered his prime, and I believe he currently makes about 4.7 million Euro per season.
That’s actually high by Serie A standards.
However, the upper tier of players on Liverpool make something like 6 to 10 million POUNDS per season.
Lovren makes 5 million pounds, and he sits on the bench.
Inter will have to offer Brozovic an 8 million Euro per season contract to stay, or he should go to Liverpool or some upper EPL club.
I do like him in Italy though. Hopefully they pay up.
Brozo being linked to Liverpool again. While it would be awesome to see him be the engine that gets a dominant team like Liverpool going I have to say I like him at Inter. I dont think we need him being run down in the PL and by Klopp. He has a good think going in Serie A
If he’s being sold for peanuts, then yea, they’ll probably loan him out and not care.
If they see something special about him, and there are multiple teams looking to buy him, then maybe it drives the price up and they actively look to find him a club where he can start and develop.
The HNL doesn’t really develop goalkeepers, but it’s still better than riding the pine.
Shouldn’t he just stay rather than get loaned out to some crap team in a crap league
Hmmm, it looks like Rijeka’s 20 year-old goalkeeper (Ivor Pandur) may get a transfer to a big club.
Funny we were talking about how crap our keepers were a couple weeks back.
Liverpool, Man City and Juventus are the ones that are interested.
Would be pretty great if he went to Juve.
They would loan him out immediately, but still. The Talijani are the best with developing goalkeepers.
Why would they let him go?
They will never get another coach like that.
https://www.croatiaweek.com/dinamo-zagreb-part-ways-with-coach-nenad-bjelica/
he’s a great coach.. I hope he will be the successor to Dalic.. Not sure how much to read into they were “mutually satisfied” but hopefully didnt ruin any relationships that will keep him from leading NT some day
The tournament will happen in Qatar. Sure it will ruin the summer tradition but we’ll have some Christmas football.
Pu that shit right here in NJ so I can Bop some of you Yugos.
At a young 37, I think Modrić can offer something on the pitch and loads off of it.
Plus he would be surrounded by young studs throughout the squad.
What a way to retire from the Vatreni.
Plus right now his legs are resting.
If he stays at Real Madrid his minutes are going to drop.
He just can’t make a move to a club that would burn him out.
My hats off to the guys writing articles
I always enjoy vukis stuff and ante stuff always good for chuckle
I haven’t been posting much lately as dealing with the corona virus stuff has kept things very busy. Fortunately, being involved in web based things actually makes this time not too bad or maybe even good for business but tough to manage a work force that can’t come in to work. Fortunately we’ve been able to keep everyone on payroll and the govt stimulus program helps make that quite doable
It sucks that wc is in November rather than June. At modric age an extra six months of aging is like three years
Jebes to, we need a World Cup here in Oz!!!
States get the one after that.
Put it back in Germany.
Or Russia again! Crazy country like that suits us fine.
