Here are the results for Mar. 18-19…
Dinamo Zagreb [ 2-0 ] Hajduk Split

Dinamo Zagreb are now eight points clear with only eight games left in the HNL season after their 2-0 victory over Hajduk Split on Saturday at Maksimir. It will be Dinamo’s sixth straight Croatian Prva Liga title. On what seemed to be a burnt pitch at Maksimir Stadion in Zagreb, Dinamo dominated the game and got goals from up and coming Croatian international Milan Badelj in the 23′ and Montenegrin Fatos Bećiraj in the 69′ to seal the game.

Hajduk were out-manned and out-classed against a Dinamo team that made them look like children. Ivan Strinić and Senijad Ibričić were surely missed in this game, as the two former Hajduk players were transfered out in the winter. Croatia third-string goalkeeper Danijel Subašić kept the game in reach for Hajduk, making many difficult saves to keep the Splićani from getting completely embarrassed.

In response to their boycott of Dinamo Zagreb while Zdravko Mamić is in control, the Bad Blue Boys gathered together in front of a large-screen television in Zagreb to catch the Eternal Derby. An exclusive look into this showing will be released on CSR in the next few days.

Hrvatski Dragovoljac remained undefeated in 2011 after registering another win on Friday over Karlovac 1-0. Marcelo Brozović would be the player of the game as his free kick goal in the 80th minute was all Hrvatski Dragovoljac needed for their third victory in four games this year. In the stands the most loyal Karlovac supporters were on hand to demand the departure of Karlovac president Turkovici, who in recent weeks has led the club in a very difficult situation.

Inter Zaprešić picked up a valuable three points on Friday after smashing 3-1 on soon to be relegated NK Istra. Mirko Kramarić, on loan from Dinamo Zagreb, opened up the scoring in only the fourth minute, converting on a beautiful free kick over the NK Istra wall. Just ten minutes later, Milenković would double that by connecting on a cross from the right side with his head. In the 26th minute, Mirko Kramarić would assist to Montenegrin U21 international Saša Balić to make it 3-0. Mirko Plantić would get one back for the visitors in the 84th minute of play, but it was little too late as Istra fell for the fourth consecutive time.
Inter Zaprešić-NK Istra 1961 highlights
NK Istra 1961 manager Zoran Vulić resigned after the match.
“Again, mistakes cost us dearly at the beginning of the match. The team has entered into a crisis of results, and Dragovoljac are now just a point behind. Therefore I have resigned from the club. We have a quality team that can fight to stay in the league. I do not have any more power nor will to continue with this job, but I understand that the best solution is a shock-therapy. Istra had four coaches this season, maybe the fifth will have better luck and success,” said Vulić after the loss.

HNL TABLE THROUGH 22 MATCHES
~Denis Svirčić reporting from Lakerville, CA
I congratulated Ante after week 5 on Dinamo's title.
Forget the rest of the season. If you want entertainment wait for the idiocy that will now start as people battle for hajduk's new president. Over 30 have applied or indicated they plan to go after the position.
Ante, congratulations to you and Dinamo for another title. Period.
We both know Hajduk can't compete so I take solace in the fact that their fans occasionally turn Poljud into one of the most amazing stadiums in Europe.
And hey, I'm stll savouring last year's Croatian Cup win:)
@jerseyCro,
I agree with both statements. Dont worry, Dinamo will pick up a couple more D team Brazilians. 🙂 and a slovak named Slepickica
While that is the case, Dinamo Zagreb has at least contributed I will say 70-80% of Croatia's UEFA coefficient points 😉
Dinamo unfortunately will sell some key pieces in the summer (Sammir, Badelj, Vrsaljko) and it will more than likely be another season in the EL
@jerseyCro,
Yes, good point on Istra going down. It will be dificult to make up an 8 point deficit with only eight games remaining to stay in the league. Istra would have to win five of the final eight to have a chance.
Dont count out Cibalia. They might pip Split and Zapresic for third.
@goldenchild
Cavs being second best? Do you watch the NBA? Even with Lebron, Cavs were never second best, more like a 3 or 4. Clippers? Yes, second best in LA, however, I wouldnt compare Hajduk(second best in the league) to Clippers(second best out of 2 teams in LA).
Dinamo can celebrate the HNL title year after year. As that is all they will get with all the $$$ invested in recycled foreigners. In the end, Hajduk & Dinamo finished in the same round in Europe and Hajduk did it with 90% Croats.
@Ante B
I watched most of the match. Like I said yesterday, Dinamo deserved to win and I congratulate them for another HNL title. Does this come as a shock to me? Did I lose sleep over this? haha.
At the beginning of the year, I thought Hajduk had a mediocre chance to upset Dinamo with Ibricic and Strinic. NO chance with this squad.
However, in the end, Hajduk and Dinamo finished in the same round of Europa League. Hajduk in the group stage of Europa League was a dream. Dinamo losing in the group stage was a wet dream 🙂
Oh spare me. You're playing the world's smallest violin. Any time Dinamo beats Hajduk (vice versa), it's always a good day.
I believe you perverted that quote and spun it for all its worth. If I said BBB was the best, I'd get the tovari screaming at me. I went the easy path and learned the hard way. Never again.
And I apologize, the book is All Quiet on the Southern Front
Ante B…. not much to say. Yes, I'm a hajduk fan but I'm also a realist. So how does it feel to beat a team that has sold it's two best players? Rather shallow, I imagine, no?
Having said that, where were you last week when I commended you for recognizining that Torcida are the best fan club in Croatia? lol
suti, samo suti, suti moj djecace plavi, i nek tvoja kosa plava na jastuku uspomena spava
actually it doesn't feel that bad. It's like triple AAA baseball or one of the smaller leagues in college basketball. Its the equivalent of Alabama St winning their conference tourney and the getting blown out in the opening round of the NCAA tourney By Kansas or Ohio State.
In this case Dinamo = Alabama St.
Hajduk = the team that lost to Alabama St in the conference tourney finals.
In retrospect, Dinamo's shit stinks much less than Hajduk's shit. Don't get me wrong, Dinamo still stinks, but not nearly as bad as Hajduk.
I wonder what it feels like to always know you are going to be second best(a Hajduk fan). I wonder if it's as bad as being a Cleveland Cavaliers fan, or the same as being a LA Clipper fan, or maybe something in between?
Looks like the hajdukovci on CSR are reading All Quiet on the Western Front. Di ste tovari?
DINAMO ZAGREB!!!
SAMPIONI!!!
Shame that Istra look like they are going down, that stadium does not deserve to be in the 2.HNL but Istra have themselves to blame…losing to Dragovoljac and Sibenik at home this month
It looks like it will go down to RNK Split and Inter Zapresic for the second Europa League spot, can't say I'm too confident about either in Europe, hopefully it is Split because they seem to have some sort of financial backing and won't sell half of their squad
I haven’t checked in here for a while because I thought it was getting boring, but the last few posts are great quality so I guess I will add you back to my daily bloglist. You deserve it my friend 🙂
