HNL TABLE THROUGH 24 MATCHES
~Denis Svirčić reporting from Lakerville, CA
Agree thats the key thing but the problem is the league is at its worst state since I've been closely following it (10 years now). Maybe I'm biased, but I think its very hard to see future NT players outside of the young Croatians on Dinamo.
There is Vukusic (Hajduk), Pavlovic (Zagreb), Skvorc (Varazdin) and some others I can't think of off the top of my head but in reality it will be a low percentage who actually make it.
Only positive about this league is that so many clubs use players even as young as 18-19, its a good opportunity for these guys to play against older, more physical opposition, no matter what the skill level is
That is old news. If I were a parent from Dalmacija and my kid showed any potential I would push for him to go to dinamo. Only negative with that is signing your life away to Mamic (see the problems the brazilian born hrvat has with Mamic) They have a better track record.
Hajduk has none because everything they (uprava) do is short-term planning to get immediate results and justify their hold on power.
Hajduk is a symbo of everything that is wrong with Croatia right now. If or when the BBB can get Mamic and his influence out of Dinamo, they will have the same problems hajduk does.
The league is crap but as long as individuals can get out of that league, go to a better league and contribute to the repka, then I am Ok with it.
Judging by past history very few of these guys will develop 😉
You know Hajduk are in trouble when Dinamo are starting to take kids from Dalmacija to their youth school. I always laugh when Hajduk get giddy when they 'steal' a talent from Dinamo…well, you can have Maloca
Rukavina stinks you say????? No surpirse.
As for Hajduk………thy are doing the right thing. Play the young kids and find out what they can do. The league was over after week 5, so nothing to lose by playing young kids and getting no results. Now, will any of these kids develop into something. I doubt it, but at least we can find out.
Varaždin have been struggling as of late. The result surprised the hell out of me. However, totally deserving, Hajduk looked like shit. I caught 20 minutes of both halves. The HNL season is over for the most part. Hajduk will get at least third and Cibalia-Varteks-Split-Inter will fight for the other Europa League spot.
@jerseyCro,
Yes, Im a Varaždin fan as well. I dont think Dinamo will rape them of talent. maybe one of two players at the most. Dinamo will be looking to add some more latin flavor to accompany Rukavina.
@Jersey Cro: I agree about Hajduk's performance. Defense on the 1st goal was non existent.
Happy 100th birthday!! Hajduk were awful yesterday, watched the match and don't remember one decent chance until it was 2:0. Hajduk's defense is a joke and even Vukusic is not as great as the media portrays him to be. I'm afraid there isn't a single future NT player on that squad
Dinamo keep their clean sheet streak alive in the league. Good to see Vaha give some of the younger players a run, but Rukavina stinks, he hasn't scored since that Villarreal match back in September. This is still not a good enough team to make an impact in Europe I'm afraid, only difference is Vaha has this team organized defensively which will help in Europe
Good to see a team like Varazdin do well, always respected them, use a lot of young players and mostly local guys too. Too bad for them Dinamo will raid any decent player they have
