None of them are actually bad players its just there is a limit of players to what any football team can deal with and Hajduk have gone well well beyond that. Buljat and Rodic have both talked of persecution. If Rodic, Smoje and Jertec were freed up there is HNL1 clubs that want them, but Hajduk clearly have to raise the funds to pay them off as nobody will pay even 200K for these guys.
hajduk are grossly mismanaged. If you have a squad that big surely you should be engaging in something of a fire sale. Ivan Rodic however was stopped from moving to Nalchik despite that they don't want him. In addition they are now getting bids for Jurica Buljat and Ivan Strinic and they are not taking them. I would expect Hajduk to be in serious financial problems next season if they keep this up.
Anas – its too early to judge. They have too many players who play the same position are all of them be it Tomasov, Ticinovic, Oremus, Anas or Ibricic have had to compromise their positioning in the side. A lot more will be expected of Anas next season. This season it was about scrambling into Europe. Next season they'll be expect to challenge Dinamo a lot more strongly.
I don't think Hajduk "persecutes" these players. There's no doubt they may regret signing them but I'm sure they'd much rather get rid of them than hold on to them just for the sake of screwing their careers.
Was Ahmad Sharbini not part of a two-for-one deal? Sign both him and his brother in order to get the player they really wanted, e.g. Anas? Incidentally, what is the verdict on Anas? Has he been a disappointment? Has he fulfilled expectations?
different situation…….the greek was cut loose after Dinamo basically paid of the remainder of his contract. I am sure these players who sit and stagnate on the hajduk bench would like to play, but they are not stupid to give up on the money they are entitled to.
Look at it this way, if you are an average soccer player that will never get anywhere outside of Croatia, what makes more sense to you. Getting paid by hajduk to sit the season or getting paid half the amount to play for a shit team like Istra, Varteks, Zadar, etc…I'll take the money and count it while I sit.
Yep, you've got Smoje, Pelaic, Aracic, Kreso Ljubicic, Jertec, Marijan Buljat, Seric, Vejic, Rodic and soon Ahmad Sharbini. I believe there gonna have them all stuffed and put in a exhibition in Split's most popular art gallery… They don't seem to have much other use for them. It should be a lesson to any player thinking of signing up with Hajduk.
At Dinamo at least we cut a guy loose if he's not performing like Papa or we get them out on loan. Hajduk persecute them..
Dinamofan,
The certainty and stability that comes with a longer term deal would certainly appeal to many players. So, if Hajduk can attract players by offering them longer term deals, good for them.
Having said that, it does seem bizarre for them to sign players only to have them sit inactive and rot.
What ever happened to the defender from Osijek, was it Smoje, they signed last summer?
Hajduk are confusing everyone by buying guys who they don't want 2 months later. There 2 months in long term deal and Hajduk go oh we want to terminate. Its a ridiculous situation. They should offer only what they can afford and then they can terminate and the players can be spread around rather than them just sitting there inactive until their long term deals come to an end. Its catastrophic financial management. Hajduk should just buy what they want, not what they don't want. They even had the chance to offload Goran Rubil who is very average yet they've even given him a long term deal now. In HNL1 it should be 2 year deals maximum. I mean can u believe Jertec is not out of contract til 2013
that is not hajduk's fault. its the other teams in the league who should give more money if they want to sign these players.
Hajduk collect players and put them on long term contracts when they can't pay for them. That is obstructive to the rest of the league at the end of the day.
If Hajduk give up this kind of activity it'll be easier to free up players so they can move around when they fall out of favour. I mean despite have a lorry load of players they don't want there is only Mladen Pelaic, Toni Pezo and Josip Skoko who is out of contract. Surely its a 1 or 2 year contract maximum for some of these players. Looks like Hajduk gave everyone 3 to 6 years!!!!!!
Nobody in istra cares….at best they will be a top five team. Plus, its not hajduk's job to provide players to the league. Players will stay in cro only when they cant make more money in another league.
But Istra will be amongst the fittest. They will beat the relegation line. They have the leagues best coach, the leagues second highest scorer and a wealthy owner so why would we want this team relegated. They can make an impact next season.
I personally do not see them going down on current form. Seriously i'm even having second thoughts on Matias Chago after seeing Istra rocket up the table. At Dinamo we always knew Chago had something otherwise Cameroon would never have called him. He's prob worth hanging onto.
This season Hajduk have not helped the league by hoarding players like whats with the persecution of Ivan Rodic and also there has been a number of players who tried to avoid the inevitable which was a return to HNL1 and couldn't accept the simple facts they are not in demand abroad. Bring all those guys back home and the league should be better. Part of Croatia's problem is there is excess exodus. There is players who deserve to be abroad and other players who do not deserve to be abroad anymore. Goran Ljubojevic understands… All you need to do is go home get your head down, work hard and bids will come back in for you again. Theres plenty of others who've done worse than him abroad who try there best not to come back when its clearly finished regards a foriegn career.
14 teams…….still too many. Who cares if istra goes away, survival of the fittest…..nobody cares in cro, look at the attendance. Remove hajduk's road numbers and its even worse.
I want say Dinamo should sign Alishapic, but this guy won't be in HNL1 next season. He'll move abroad to Turkey or Holland and is Bosnian unfortunately.
I don't agree – it should be top 14. otherwise you lose Istra who could have major investment next season. Also both Dinamo and Hajduk would lose their feeder clubs Zapresic and Zadar.
3 goes down and 1 goes up and it should be left like that. Next season there is a mass of Croats who will be available and spread around the league a lot more. HNS should sit back and let that happen and see if it improves the league. Nobody can question the competitiveness of the division this year cos if it kept going for a couple more weeks i don't even think we'd win the title. The points margin is down and Hajduk also been humbled by half the division.
Look at the massive long list of players available in the summer. http://hrvsoccer.blogspot.com/2010/05/hunt-for-clubs-begins.html
Can you see many of this lot getting offers abroad, yet if you look at who are the best strikers this season i.e Vugrinec and Bule it shows that a bit of experience abroad counts a lot in HNL1. I think HNS should bring it down to 14 sit back and see if the teams can improve their squads for next season and make it even more competitive. I mean if we the Hajduk and Dinamo fans really look at things closely we all know that our sides aren't so great and can easily be shoved over by other HNL1 sides once say Ibricic and Badelj goes.
I think on the whole the league is quite stable. Sesvete and Medimurje had to go down as they belong in HNL2. The other team who i thought would go down is Varteks. The fact they stayed up surprised me. If Zapresic go down we're talking about a team which recieves 2m Euro for Delac and has 30 something players on their books. That is not a small club. i think leave it at 14, that'll be okay. It'll be a shame but it'll prob be Zadar who goes down. I can't see why Loko would want to take apart Zapresic. Loko have nothing to play for. Istra have a tough match at Rijeka. If Istra win that'd be amazing. A draw should be enough to keep them up. Zagreb and Zadar i can see being a draw. Zadar are a bit unlucky as players got injured at the wrong time and Hajduk took players from them in january just to sit on the bench.
The top 10 in the current standings should stay up. The should be the league for next year. 10 teams only.
Sibenik excellent 1st goal

Nice to see Varteks and Zagreb staying up. Varteks have done incredible to stay in the division despite all the serious financial issues and players and their coach walking out on them. As for Davor Vugrinec that guys the best. 18 goals – he puts all the strikers at our club to shame. We wish we still had a striker like Vuga.
If there is corruption then i think if ever there was a time to fix a match Zapresic V Lokomotiva would be it. Do Dinamo really want to see Zapresic go down. I don't think so. Get Hajduk's feeder club Zadar in HNL2 instead.
Although it has to be said ILIJA SIVONJIC > DODO > GUILERMO SUAREZ oof that's bad business all round. We need a new sporting director i think as we ain't half signing some crap..
