HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
Here are the results for May 10th…
NK Rijeka [2 – 1] Hajduk Split
DINAMO NEEDS 3 POINTS TO ONCE AGAIN BE CROWNED CHAMPS
HNK Sibenik [0 – 2] Dinamo Zagreb
Croatia Sesvete [0 – 3] Inter Zaprešić
NK Zadar [3 – 1] Cibalia Vinkovci
Slaven Belupo [2 – 1] NK Zagreb
Varteks Varaždin [2 – 3] NK Osijek
Hajduk has completely lost control of their own title hopes as they lost to Rijeka 2-1. After a 0-0 stalemate through 75 minutes, Hrvoje Vejić put Hajduk ahead and most importantly looked to have given the the ‘Bili’ three points. It only took Alen Pamić five minutes to equalize for Rijeka before Sharbini stuck a dagger into Hajduk fans’ hearts with an injury time winner.
Another year, another Dinamo Zagreb title. Way to keep the season interesting Hajduk!
Dinamo Zagreb once again took care of business beating Šibenik away 2-0. Mandžukić put away the first goal for Dinamo as defender Ivan Tomečak added a late insurance goal. Šibenik’s loss badly hurts their chance of playing in Europa League next season as they are four points back of Rijeka with only three games left to play.

I won’t ink any Dinamo championship just yet either because it’s never over until it’s over…but I think my Plavi are going to take it all.
This Wednesday we have a game coming up against our hated rivals from Split which should be an excellent match.
Being a Dinamo fan, I think Dinamo is going to take it but so far Hajduk has the series lead so everything is up in the air. Plus, when Dinamo and Hajduk play eachother, it’s practically always no holds barred and doesn’t matter how your season went.
Maksimir will be banging…finally.

I don’t mind if Kalinic moves to a team in Russia or Hoffenheim or someone and progresses there as things have gone stale for him due to being fasttracked and he now thinks he’s better than he is, so he might not benefit from another season in Croatia. If we kept him in the under 21 and waited he’d be more hungry for success, but he just seems impatient. i don’t think he wants to be at Hajduk next season. Vrucina would benefit from replacing him at Hajduk.
Anas is a dead certainty for playing for Croatia despite his Jordanian and Palestine links – he’s well like in Croatia. Ahmad i think is playing better than Vrucina and Kalinic at the moment and i wouldn’t mind if he went to a lower half Bundesliga club as i think he has proven himself in HNL1 and needs a new challenge.
Mandza should consider staying at Dinamo as i think there the team is more stable defensively now to do something in Europe with a couple of major signings. I think we should go Croatian as well as there are players out there – i.e Ilicevic, Babic and Jerko Leko who we could persuade to come on board. If Mandza is playing with players like that it might be better for him than on the bench at Bremen. After all its only for one more year and then he can move after that.
Anas Sharbini should also move abroad. If Koln bid for him he should go there as it seems they have got money are a progressive club.
@ Anonymous,
I’m at Anfield to look over Pranjic’s new contract with Liverpool should the two sides decide to agree. You know how the Brits are with their contracts and fine print. 🙂
@ Dinamofan :),
I agree with you about the strikers in HNL. They’re all ‘luke warm-cold’ at best. They all need to have a complete and productive season in Croatia next year to leave. Should Kalinic, Mandza, Vrucina or Sharbini leave Croatia this summer; it does no one good. Croatian clubs aren’t getting paid max price for prospects as they should let players grow into full form for max financial gain and clubs around Europe get another bench player. No way they can strike in the top 10 leagues yet. Still immature.
FYI …There are 2 Sharbini’s on Rijeka. Anas is the young gun who scores. His brother, Ahmad, is the captain and the midfielder. Ahmad is 25. Anas is 22. Anas is the Sharbini that will one day play for Croatia- should he get past the whole being half Palestinian screening.
Yay I’m glad we look set for the title again. Rijeka baffles me. They have been on great form but didn’t show up against us and were back to norm against Hajduk. Its Kalinic – he’s stopped scoring – that’s Hajduk’s problem. I suppose another coach will lose his job now just like always happens in HNL.
Kalinic definitely has not done enough to be in Croatia’s squad. Ahmad Sharbini is the most in form out of the HNL strikers so far so i don’t hope to see many in the national side. Vrucina’s also stopped scoring. After all the injury hysteria it prob looks like Petric, Olic, Klasnic will make it. Eduardo will have to keep working to get fit in time and Petric needs to get more in practice as is no good to us when he’s not moving about. Remaining place should go to either in form Mandza, Bilic or Rukavina. Anas Sharbini also has earned a call up in place of Kranjcar.
Regards our decision to offload Sokota, Balaban and Drpic in winter i’m not against it no more. There is some young players who have emerged such as Badelj, Tomecak and Calello to improve the team. Slepicka and Sivonjic are good bench players. Tadic may have to be loaned out – Morales is a great player but we prob gonna have to sell him as Sammir has got his place. It would not be a bad idea to keep Mandza for one more year and sign him a strike partner. Maybe we should have one more go at signing Ilicevic too.
why are u in anfield ante?
Dinamo needs only 3 points in 3 matches to hold onto the title; and that’s saying the Hajduk will win out. The way Hajduk is playing, I’ll be surprised if they get 1 more point the rest of the season!
Hold on one minute here Dinamo isn’t the champion just yet. From My Mouth To God’s Ears, S Moji Usta Do Bozije Usi Dinamo is going to lose to Slaven Belupo, Tie Against Zagreb and Lose To Hajduk I Slavit Cemo Na Poljudu S One Strane Marjana. It sounds like the most ridiculous thing but I believe it will happen it’s football remember ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. VOLIM NOGOMET!!!! TORICDA SPLIT 1950 NAJVJERNIJI.
