Here are the results for Sept. 11-13…
Inter [0 – 1] Dinamo Zagreb
Dinamo welcomed back Etto and Robert Kovač for the encounter with Zaprešić and successfully recorded a 1-0 victory thanks to Pedro Morales’s first half strike. Dinamo were far from at their best with several players appearing tired after returning from international duty. Chelsea’s representative Frank Arnesen will also be pleased to note the Zaprešić keeper Matej Delač had another impressive game as the clubs appear to be close to agreeing compensation for the young 17 year old to move to Stamford Bridge in January. Zaprešić themselves completed the signing of midfielder Krešimir Brcić on loan from Nacional. Dinamo will play Anderlecht in their first Europa Liga group match on Thursday. The return of Kovać and Luis Ibanez will improve the depth of Dinamo’s squad, however they still wait on the fitness of Igor Biščan, whilst Morales was hurt in this match.
Hajduk moved up to 12th place after defeating Varteks 3-0 on Sunday’s nationally televised match. Despite the absence of first team regulars Senijad Ibričić, Ahmad Sharbini, Srđjan Andrić and Josip Skoko, Hajduk put in a much improved performance. Mirko Oremus opened the scoring in the 30th minute when he shot past Denis Krklec. Ante Serić netted the second, before Anas Sharbini stroked home his first goal in a Hajduk shirt from the penalty spot. Eduardo Reja gave a debut to new signing Duje Čop who was rewarded for his patience as his agent and Hajduk’s board tried to settle a dispute over who recieved what percentage for any future transfer on the player.
Čop, who is believed to be on the lowest wages in the club, meantime impressed in a friendly match during the midseason break to convince Hajduk that he was worth recruiting.
Another excellent win for Osijek has got their season back on track. In form Ivan Miličević opened the scoring in the 6th minute, with young talents Josip Knežević and Vedran Jugović sealing the win in the last 10 minutes of the match. Istra were without key man Kallilou Traore who was given a compassionate leave last week, but did not return back in time. Coach Elvis Scoria was also without Macedonian international Armend Alimi, who is newly signed from Macedonian club Milano. Osijek announced at midweek that former player Goran Ljubojević is training with the club following the termination of his contract with Racing Genk. Osijek have not ruled out signing Ljubojević, but it is believed he is set to transfer to Germinal Beerscot back in Belguim.
NK Rijeka [1 – 1] Karlovac
Karlovac coach Igor Pamić has been in a joyful mood during the international break and the smile is likely to stay on the face of the ex- Croatia striker following another excellant away point. His team fell behind after five minutes due to Mario Tadejević’s goal. Zvonko Pamić, who is son of the Karlovac coach and brother of Rijeka’s Alen, scored an impressive equalizer to tie the game at 1-1. Rijeka gave debuts to Radomir Dalović, Nastja Čeh and Miroslav Karoglan, but they failed to swing the match back in favor of the home side. Rijeka are still waiting for international clearence to sign highly rated Morrocan defender Yassine Lkhal. They have also announced the transfer of defender Dario Dabac and playmaker Igor Novaković to Al Arabi, who both left the club in the summer.
Slaven Belupo [3 – 2 ] Međimurje
Belupo dug deep to gain a much needed victory against in form Međimurje Čakovec. Despite opening the scoring through Elvis Kokalović, Međimurje took control of the match following a Bojan Golubović strike and Ivica Zuljević penalty. Aljoša Vojinović pulled Belupo back level before star performer Matias Delić hit the winner. At midweek, Međimurje recieved the go ahead for defender Igor Lozo to continue playing as he checked out a current heart condition. The club were also in talks to sign former Croatian Under 21 international and NK Zagreb defender Vedran Jese, but were unable to agree personal terms.
NK Zagreb [0 – 1] Cibalia
NK Zagreb coach Luka Pavlović left the club on Friday night following his teams latest defeat which leaves them firmly rooted at the bottom of the table. Ivica Baraban hit the winner for Cibalia late in the game to keep momentum in their good form. It is believed NK Zagreb would like to persuade Nikola Jurčević to become Pavlović’s successor, which would mean sacrificing his role assisting Slaven Bilić in the national team. Zagreb also would be interested in former coach Mile Petković and Dinamo’s title winning coach Branko Ivanković. An announcement is expected to be made sometime later this week.
Lokomotiva continued to settle well to life in HNL1 with a goalless draw against a strong looking Šibenik side. Lokomotiva had numerous chances to win through goalscoring opportunities for Nino Bule, Tomislav Martinac and Matej Bagarić. They failed to take them and both sides will be happy with a point.
Croatia Sesvete’s misery continues despite the appointment of highly rated coach Nenad Gračan to replace Anto Petrović. Zadar were the latest side to overturn last season’s bottom placed club with a comfortable 2-0 win. Ivan Čurjurić and Hajduk loanee Goran Jožinović were the goalscorers. Sesvete announced the signing of defender Tomislav Labudović from NK Zagreb as they aim to improve the side, but did not field him in this match.
Matej Delač, the 17 year old Inter Zaprečić keeper, looks to be headed to Chelsea. Reports all over Europe have said that some kind of deal has already been struck even though Chelsea has been banned from this kind of activity for two transfer windows.
On 11 September 2009, two days after Croatia’s 1–5 defeat at Wembley, Croatian news reports revealed that Delač had stayed in London for a medical examination and is on the verge of signing a pre-contract with English giants Chelsea. Reports said that Chelsea scouts had been following Delač’s performances in the Croatian championship for months and that their Director of Football Frank Arnesen came to Zagreb earlier to agree terms of the transfer. Since UEFA had given Chelsea a transfer ban on 3 September 2009, Delač is reportedly likely to sign a pre-contract which would let him stay at Zaprešić until January 2011 before joining Chelsea, in a deal worth around 3 million euros. -Wikipedia excerpt
SIDE NOTE: Although the transfer deadline has now passed, it is expected that HNL1 sides will continue to be active in recruitment with a number of free agents still looking for clubs. Such players include defender Darko Miladin, midfielder Marko Marić, goalkeeper Tomislav Vranjić, striker Kruno Lovrek and defender Hrvoje Vuković.

Mamic will get in the double figures for him. A good euro performance and NT performance will increase his value.
I mentioned he's cup tied, so unless a team needs "help" to win their league, he won't go anywhere.
I think Kramaric is already third choice striker and will keep progressing. Jurcic and Mamic are always singing the praises of Papa even though he don't score that much so far. I expect Papa to still be with Dinamo next season. Slepicka has to leave for his own benefit and Dinamo's. He was a bad signing that doesn't fit in Dinamo. He should have stayed at Sparta where he had it good. I think we should start offering him to Czech clubs, Austrian or Bundesliga 2 sides in the winter.
Zec hasb't really done it this season. I thought he may be okay for Dinamo if he scored goals for Sibenik this season, but now i don't really want him. At Dinamo we've been bitten by buying mediocre players from other HNL1 club so we need to be careful on who we recruit. Some are just one season wonders. That's same for Hajduk who bought Smoje and Rodic who just seem to add to the dross rather than improve the side.
I think Mandzo is at highest point of his value at present. I don't think we can ask for any more than £8m. He's also getting a little demotivated in HNL1. Its time for him to move to next level. If we get £8m for him and £2m for Vrdoljak its good business. It helps us to resist bids for Badelj, Lovren, Morales all of whom need to stay for at least one more season. I'm not sure on Vrucina. I think we should look for a better player.
I would keep Mandzukic as his value would increase provided Dinamo do good in Europa league, his performance on the NT and the fact he won't be cup tied to Dinamo Zagreb.
Our next NT coach should be a foreign coach. If we had a foreign coach, there would be a less likely chance of politics and a no nonsense approach.
Zec = I think he's on his way to Germany soon. I don't think he wants to be in Prva HNL anymore.
Vrucina = He would be another Mandzo, but less of a temper and flopping.
Kramaric is going to be a good option when Slepicka, Papa Smurf and Mandzo leave.
In winter or summer we need to take back Antolic as well and start bringing him through. Sammir hasn't lived up to expectations and is blocking Antolic, Tomecak and Ibanez at the moment.
If we don't sign anyone other than Leko in winter i'd not be that fussed. We should look at Vida and Knezevic as signings in summer 2010. Also consider swooping for Jajalo if he's available from Siena. We need a replacement for Mandzo. I think we need to do more watching in winter rather than buying to see who is the best option. At present i'm sceptical players like Zec or Vrucina can fill Mandzo's boots.
I think i'm of the opinion we should sell Mandzo and Vrdoljak in the winter and sign Leko. Consider swapping Slepicka for Keric as well. We prob are also gonna have to spend money paying off Guillermo Suarez as he's been awful back in Argentina on loan. Its clear there is really limited competition we can offer to Mandzo.
I've read some talk today from main people in domestic HNL football saying Stimac was highly likely to be the next Croatia coach. I really wouldn't want this. Croatian football seems destined for a certain path at the moment. Its all going a bit wrong. It seems to be getting monopolised by a certain few.
I'm looking forward to Anderlecht game. Mikulic says Dinamo should not be afraid of Anderlecht as they are very ordinary. Its game like this where we learn if Lovren, Badelj, Vrdoljak and Mandzo are worthy of a international call up. I hope Jurcic gets his tactics right this time. Hopefully no Sammir. Select this..
Butina, Etto, Cufre, Lovren, Kovac; Tomecak, Vrdoljak, Badelj, Morales; Mandzo, Papadopoulos
Subs in from: Calello, Kramaric, Ibanez, Sammir, Barbaric
IGOR STIMAC.. NOOOOO! Zagreb don't have that much of a team. They have some young talents, but they need to make signings. 3 of their ex players Kruno Lovrek, Vedran Jese and Marko Maric are available on frees. Maybe they can also get their former youngsters Kristjan Pavlovic and Lovro Screbec back from Nacional.
It's refreshing to see Hajduk finally put in a good performance. We need more competitive teams in HNL if any of them are to stand a remote chance of European play.
Here is the Stimac article on becoming NK Zagreb's new coach
http://www.sportske.jutarnji.hr/index.php?cmd=show_clanak&clanak_id=13795
I am so far impressed with NK Karlovac's start in 1.HNL
Hopefully Kovac's return can mean some form of improvement in our back 4 for the NT.
